One of the main things keeping me from switching fully to @npub1v5u…n0v5 is the lack of desktop or web support. I’m not going to pretend that adding a new platform to support would be easy, but so many other podcast apps have a desktop equivalent and the lack of one messes with my existing flow. I still want to support the app though and continue to boost through it.

Wanted to give you another resource to get some info on Spark. Instead of issuing a separate BTC-based coin, the whole system is built on pre-signed exit transactions that get updated for every Spark transaction. This allows users to unilaterally exit from the base chain at any time. I know you consume a lot of content though, so no worries if you can’t get to it, but I do truly believe this might be one of the best scaling solutions that stays true to the Bitcoin ethos.

Hey Chris, I’m curious if you’ve looked into the Spark layer 2 solution from LightSpark. Seems really promising and that it would be a good compliment to Lightning. Question for @nprofile…rlgn or anyone else who knows on how the @nprofile…nja8 app calculates taxes. If I send or receive USD over lightning/onchain, does this result in a taxable event? In the Strike transaction history a send of let’s say $5 over lightning shows up as a single transaction. However, in the background that $5 had to be used to buy BTC to be sent over the lightning network. Or would this be considered more like a fiat withdrawal. Thanks in advance!

I’ve been following Bitcoin since 2013, and while I empathize with the current debate around OP_RETURN, I do wish there was more of a focus on solutions to a specific problem. I’ve never been a huge fan of the idea of the lightning network being the be all end all solution for scaling, and the Bitcoin community could benefit from all the research from other ecosystems. I currently think a decentralized, trust minimized, censorship resistant rollup style “layer 2” would be great for Bitcoin, and I hope the community starts working backwards from the end goal to find the optimal solution for this kind of technology. This is how the forks that allowed the lightning network to operate were accomplished, so I’m sure we can do the same once again. As always, love the show!

I honestly believe that JP Morgan is still spouting the same FUD so that they can eventually offer a Bitcoin based alternative, probably on their internal blockchain that will operate like a centralized L2, that solves the issues he complains about. @npub1cn4…3vle question about the 1099-B forms provided by @npub1ex7…vyt9. Let’s say I’ve bought Bitcoin elsewhere and transfer some funds to Strike to use with Bill Pay. The 1099-B form won’t accurately be able to calculate the capital gains since the Bitcoin wasn’t purchased on the platform, correct? In that case I’m guessing you’d want to use the transaction statements across Strike and your other exchanges and skip the 1099, or buy enough Bitcoin on Strike to match the bill pay in order to get a correct 1099?

I ended up getting mild fluorosis early on in life and my childhood dentist had no idea. Once I lived on my own I did my own research and stopped using fluoride, and my next dentist was in full agreement with me. Find yourself a dentist that doesn’t peddle flourish products unnecessarily.

I don't think I ever made an #introductions post, but since I'm doing a rebrand, now seems like as good of time as ever.
I've been a professional software engineer for 10 years, and I have been doing it as a hobby for 16 years total. I got into #Bitcoin in 2013 and have my share of stories where I should be retired 100x over by now, but we live and learn. Hopefully I can share some of those stories at some point.
These days, I'm starting to experience engineering burnout. While I'm grateful for having this as my career, spending day and night coding for this long takes its toll. A while back a coworker convinced me start learning how to produce #music, and it has been a game changer for me.
Today I'm happy to share one of my tracks I'm working on to the public for the first time. I've shared my music with friends, but never to a wide audience. This is a dubstep/tearout/trench type of track so it's a pretty heavy headbanger, and I would love feedback on it from those who appreciate this kind of music.
I'm excited to continue my musical journey, and to spread awareness of Bitcoin at the same time.

This podcast is pretty high level, but worth listening to. I’m not sure if it’s 100% legit or not, but if it is, I think it could be great for Bitcoin. If we can use this technology to secure other PoS chains, then Bitcoin becomes the ultimate settlement layer, and other chains become pure execution environments.

Anyone else having issues with the latest @npub1v5u…n0v5 release? I didn’t have any crashes yesterday, but this morning I can’t get through a few minutes of a podcast without the app crashing while the app is in the background or my phone is locked. Very weird as I used the app for hours yesterday without this issue.

#Coinbase (not Coinbase Advanced) fees are insane, and I can’t believe they still get away with it. A $50 #Bitcoin purchase has a $1.99 fee, but flipping the “advanced” toggle and making a market order of $50 results in $0.37 of fees. That’s nearly a 4% fee versus a 0.74% fee for knowing to flip a toggle and know what a “market” order even is.

You should really be using nvm to manage your Node installs instead of a package manager. It also lets you install multiple versions of Node and you can easily switch between them.
