I got accusatory and even rude right off the bat when Lanodan came right out the gate with "um we won't touch this until after you totally rewrite it in this completely arbitrary way" and I'm feeling quite vindicated with that disposition now. These people have a need to be oblique about their actual intentions and I've learned, over the years, how to suss out what things are really about.
Muh standard is a pretext at best. Not only does Pleroma not care about the standard, but I bet if I cherry-picked @npub108p…yev6 's commit and tried to submit it to Pleroma with maybe rewriting the commit message to "better ActivityPub spec conformity" or something like that, it wouldn't get accepted. Even if I directly supported it with the spec's actual exact words.
@npub1vwr…fnzd didn't want to merge my commit that includes the url field for scrobbling based on a misreading of the ActivityPub spec. The url field can be any representation of the Audio document, like a page about the document or an audio file, or, yes, a web page that streams the audio file. He insisted on me putting the user-submitted YouTube/SoundCloud/whatever URLs into externalLink for reasons.
It's farcical. I'm unlikely to try to work with these people again.

@npub108p…yev6 Gatsby is a frontend. I've done a little bit of Phoenix work just by dint of fiddling with Pleroma and writing a few MRFs. What's the point of picking up Phoenix really? Does it make you more hireable?
There's another concern that I have with Phoenix and that it is not as mature as Rails, or Ruby, the language it's written in. Whenever I want to do something that is non-trivial, I just type in whatever that thing is and then "Ruby gem" into Google and I almost always get something that works pretty well. It's actually what kept me in Ruby as long as it has, alongside the fact that once you get over Ruby's learning curve the language is quite elegant.
When you combine the maturity of both rails and basically the entire Ruby world with the fact that Ruby code is actually very elegant to read, it does for the most part makeup for its performance flaws. It's why I'm pretty reluctant to accept it face value claims that it's "dead."

Well, “winning.” Most of Christendom is entirely fallen. Catholicism, Lutheranism, they’re all fag churches. LDS hasn’t fallen entirely but it’s flirting with it by trying to appease fags with “we’ll support gay marriage in secular life if you leave us alone.” LDS is the best option in this respect, which is the real moral test of the century, but I’m not entirely satisfied with the answer. @npub1drg…7yxw I think it's important that we have an organized religion, but my devotion to any particular church isn't as slavish as they probably want. I kind of view it this way: it's legitimate, until it isn't.
As for scripture, the canon we now call the "Bible" was cherry picked, reconstructed, edited, and otherwise altered in who knows how many ways. Around 350 AD, not long after the first council was really formed, they banned all "heretical" writings. A lot of scriptures were lost this way, and many more were edited to fit their agenda. The Gnostic texts come to mind, which were lost for nearly two millennia before being rediscovered by a fluke.
Who knows what else is lost.

If you look at the first, second, third councils, most of them were about shutting down "Heresies" (anything disagreeing with the Orthodox Church). But even the first one took centuries. They had to reconstruct and edit all of the New Testament scriptures.

I prefer to view things in a much more situational approach. Or, to put it in zoomer speak, to stay in my lane. What is my lane? My lane is trying to start a family, and to protect the interests of that family. I have a gf who I met and I brought her to Taylor Swift. Things are working out. My lane is preserving and building upon the cultural and religious traditions I’ve been imbued with, some of which were built centuries ago, some built in the mid 20th.
My lane is not writing policy from a mile-high view like a lot of our guys. We don’t control policy. That fact needs to be taken seriously in our thing. We don’t control the government and the greater society, and that government/society is out to get us, for a confluence of reasons. If we ever control things again in that fashion, it will likely be generations from today. Might as well internalize this reality now and learn to engage in some outright grit.
I know you hate this outlook, but to me, it isn’t about saving Christianity or the White race or my stupid hobbies or whatever else. It’s not about saving the world. It’s about saving myself.

I brought up how Pepe/Wojak aren’t appropriate for flags, yeah. It’s just that, every symbol from the past has some flaw, some dumb point of contention. We’re all on the same team, more or less, and there is a certain essence to the movement of today, and all of the past movements fall short. Christianity because it’s purely religious and our thing doesn’t eliminate the irreligious. Nazism doesn’t really cover it for a few reasons like a lot of our guys want to do one-dropism with Ashkenazim and the actual Nazis did not, or they beefed with Slavs and we don’t, that sort of thing. Confederacy doesn’t really work because that was a movement around the South and its right to self-determination with respect to slavery. I can go on but I think you get the point.
I know you’re not a fan of this take but what we might call the “dissident right” isn’t strictly racial, even. There are a lot of Americanized non-Whites in our ranks and frankly they’re not a problem. They’re not a fan of the racial-social dynamic for whatever reason. They just want to abolish this tranny shit or whatever and they’re not out to get whitey. Trying to shoehorn race into it isn’t always appropriate. It’s like when leftists try to say that blacks who oppose some of these things are White supremacists because they don’t want to get involved with Ukraine or get the clot shot. It’s ridiculous when they do it and it’s ridiculous when we do it.
This movement we have now, it’s very real. I think we’re trying to find analogies to past movements and in doing so forgetting that we have our own.
Just my thoughts over the last few years. I got a ticket to see the new Barbie movie. Call me a fag I guess. Why not.

My point is not "Nazis are bad" as much as it is "Nazis are gone" and we're kind of our own thing now, and we should own that. Nazism was a German political movement in the 20th century. Their ideas don't really map 1:1 with our own. It's fun to read about them and I understand exactly why people like to romanticize them, much like the Confederates, I just think we should be our own thing and own it.
Let fallen dogs rest. But that's not going to stop me from siding with people just because they disagree with me on this point. It's kind of a minor point in the grand scheme of things. Once you figure out what your views are you more or less know who your enemies are anyway.
