When I saw this little girl, I could not hold back my tears. I cried with a pain I had never known before. It felt as if something inside me had broken forever, as if my heart had been torn from my chest and split into two by grief.
This is not just a child.
This is the story of an entire people captured in a single image.
She has only just begun to crawl. She should have been crawling across the carpet of her home, surrounded by her toys, her family’s laughter, and the safety of a place that embraced her.
Instead, today she crawls in front of a tent.
Afraid that her daughter might disappear among the thousands of crowded tents, afraid that chaos and overcrowding might swallow her up, afraid of losing sight of her even for a moment, her mother tied her little leg with a rope.
Yes… a rope.
The way animals are tied so they cannot wander away.
My God…
How painful it is to write these words, and how much more painful it must be for a mother to live them with trembling hands and a broken heart.
Can anyone imagine the pain that filled that mother’s heart as she tied her daughter’s leg?
How many times did she stop and cry?
How many times did she feel humiliated and powerless?
How many times did she whisper to herself, “Forgive me, my little one. This is not the life I wanted for you.”
But what choice did she have?
To let her daughter get lost among the tents?
To disappear into the crowds and never be found?
To keep her inside a tent that has become an oven under the summer heat, burning the bodies of children?
What kind of cruel fate forces a mother to choose between restraining her child and losing her?
What kind of world pushes a mother to do something she never imagined she would do?
And the most heartbreaking part is that this mother is not alone.
There are thousands of mothers living this same nightmare every day.
Thousands of children deprived of the most basic rights of childhood.
Thousands of hearts slowly breaking beneath the tents.
We were not born in tents.
We were not beggars waiting for anyone’s pity.
We lived in warm homes. We slept in safety and woke up to simple dreams. We studied, worked, and built our futures just like any other people in the world.
We had our small secrets, family photographs hanging on our walls, children’s toys scattered across rooms, and cups of coffee waiting for us each morning.
Then we lost everything.
The tent became our address.
Suffering became our daily companion.
And the sight of a little girl tied with a rope outside a tent became something the world can see and still continue its day as if nothing happened.
This is not only poverty.
This is not only displacement.
This is not only the loss of a home.
This is the collapse of the very meaning of a life that every human being deserves.
What hurts me even more than the hunger, the fear, the heat, and the cold is that the world sees all of this, hears our cries every day, and then turns away.
As for that little girl…
I will never forget her eyes for as long as I live.
And I will never forget that a mother in this world was forced to tie her daughter’s leg with a rope in order to protect her.
What pain could be greater than this?

May I tell you something that weighs heavily on my heart?
Sometimes I feel that many people who come across our words here simply pass by them in silence, as though our cries for help have become so common that they no longer draw attention, or as though the requests for assistance we write have become a burden to those who read them.
What many people do not know is that I think dozens of times before writing any appeal for support. I try to endure, to stay strong, and to find any other path that allows me to preserve what remains of my dignity. But the painful truth is that most doors have been closed in front of us, and all that remains are those with compassionate hearts and those who believe that the injustice we have endured is beyond description.
Before the war, I had a complete life.
I graduated with honors and distinction and worked as a university teaching assistant for two and a half years. I had a home, land, a car, and savings that I built through years of hard work and dedication. I had a future I was planning for, and ordinary days that I once believed were a simple right that could never be taken away.
Today, however, we live in tents that bear no resemblance to the life we once knew. We have lost safety and stability, and we have lost countless things that can never be replaced.
That is why I kindly ask anyone who is able to help, even in the simplest way, to share my post. Perhaps my story will reach someone who understands the scale of the injustice that has been inflicted upon us and is willing to extend a helping hand during these difficult times.
I have attached one photo showing some of the details of the peaceful life I once lived, and another showing the danger that surrounds us today: a snake found near the tents in the southern areas as temperatures continue to rise.
We are not dying from missiles alone.
Death has many faces and countless forms, and we are forced to live among them every single day.

I am just one person living in a small corner of this world, yet what I have endured throughout this war is beyond what the mind can imagine and the heart can bear. The war has stripped me of the most basic foundations of the life I once had and turned my reality upside down. I suddenly found myself responsible for supporting a family of seven after the father of my children was injured in this war, leaving me with immense responsibilities and burdens to carry alone.
My losses have not been merely material. They have been emotional, psychological, and physical as well. I have lost so much of what once gave my life stability, and yet I continue trying to stay strong for the sake of my children and my family despite the pain and exhaustion I carry every day.

In a few hours, I am supposed to go to my doctor for a follow-up on my treatment. But since this morning, I have not been living as a person seeking healing—I have been living as a mother trying to keep her children alive.
One strike follows another. One explosion after another. Fear now reaches our hearts before our breath does. And between every bombardment and the next, I do not think about my illness or my treatment. I think about my children.
How can I leave them behind and go? And how can I take them with me when even the roads are no longer safe? What if they lose me? What if I lose them? How can a mother step out of her home not knowing whether she will return to hold her children again?
These questions have been tearing my heart apart since morning. I try to appear strong, but I break down every time I imagine this war taking one of my children from me—or taking me away from them.
Three years of fear, displacement, loss, and waiting, and still we are forced every day to live suspended between life and death. Even the most basic human rights have become distant dreams. The sense of safety that many people experience without a second thought has become something we can no longer even imagine.
Why this silence? Why are more than two million people left to face terror alone? Why has our death become just another passing headline that awakens no conscience? Does the world still see us as human beings—people who feel pain, love deeply, and fear for our children just like everyone else?
These photos are from today’s attacks on residential apartments and a jeep on Al-Wehda Street. The scenes brought back the terror of the first days of the war, as if everything we have endured never truly ended.
The war never left our hearts. Today, it has returned to remind us that our lives are still hanging between one shell and the next, while the world’s silence grows heavier and more cruel with every passing day.

A Ceasefire?
What ceasefire are we talking about?
For the past month, the missiles have returned with even greater intensity, bringing back the terror that has never truly left our hearts. There is no safety here, no place where a person can close their eyes and feel secure. Even sleep has become a gamble, and every morning no longer comes with the promise of life.
Last night felt endless. The bombardment never stopped, and the sound of explosions followed us every moment. With every missile strike, I felt something inside me breaking. A missile does not only destroy walls or turn homes into rubble; it tears lives apart, wipes out entire families, and leaves behind shattered hearts that may never heal.
This morning, we woke up to the news of an entire family being wiped out. A father, a mother, and their children were all killed together in a single moment inside their apartment in western Gaza City.
But what broke my heart the most was that they left behind a little girl, no older than nine years old.
A child who woke up to find that her entire family had become a memory.
No father to call her name. No mother to hold her. No siblings to share her fear and loneliness.
One small girl facing a world that showed no mercy to her childhood.
In moments like these, I feel a pain beyond words. And I find myself thinking that death, despite its cruelty, may be kinder than a lifetime of this suffering. Death is a journey that happens only once. But for a child to remain alone in Gaza, carrying such loss in her small heart, means living through death thousands of times—every morning, every evening, and with every memory.
How much longer?
How much longer will this silence continue to surround the world?
How much longer will we remain nothing more than numbers in the news?
We are not numbers.
We are human beings.
We have dreams just like yours. We have hearts that love. We have children who once imagined their futures the same way children everywhere do.
We studied, worked, and struggled to build decent lives, only to find ourselves suddenly fighting for the most basic right any human being can have: the right to stay alive.
And it was not only the Labad family that was lost that night.
In other parts of Gaza, inside apartments and makeshift tents, five more people were killed. Each of them had a story, dreams, and loved ones waiting for them to return.
They are gone now, and the people who loved them are left carrying a grief that cannot be seen.
As for Gaza, it continues to bleed.
It bleeds its children, its homes, and its dreams, day after day.
And still, every night, we ask the same questions:
How many more lives must be lost?
How many more children must be left alone?
How much more pain must we endure before the world recognizes that we deserve to live?

Gaza, Our Beating Wound
For three years, wounds have been carved into our hearts, one after another. Not a single day has passed during these three years without our wound continuing to bleed.

The day after tomorrow, Eid al-Adha will arrive,
yet it no longer resembles the Eids we once knew.
Here, Eid al-Adha carried rituals that felt like old tales passed gently from one generation to another;
the scent of sacrifices rising with the first light of dawn,
crowded markets filled with sweets, new clothes, and children’s toys,
and the joy in little eyes growing long before gifts ever reached their hands.
Our mothers used to bake date-filled cookies days before the feast,
until the homes themselves seemed wrapped in the warmth of flour, butter, and longing,
as though happiness was being baked slowly beside us, piece by piece.
And tomorrow is the Day of Arafah,
the sacred day before Eid,
a day that carried its own unforgettable traditions.
Every Day of Arafah, we would have breakfast outside the house,
a small pause between the exhaustion of work,
the weight of my children’s studies,
and the long-awaited holiday we clung to like salvation.
Then Eid morning would arrive…
beginning with prayer,
followed by the sacrifices,
then sweets shared among children,
and Eid gifts that planted delight inside their small hearts,
along with visits to family and relatives,
and the sound of loved ones knocking on our doors with hearts full of affection.
But today…
no Eid comes anymore,
and life no longer feels like life.
There is no joy worthy of our children,
and no voices of family or loved ones

For nearly two months now, all I have been able to receive each week has been a very small amount, and in many weeks, I received nothing at all.
I fully understand that there are countless people in need, and that every person carries their own pain and heavy circumstances. That is why I have always tried not to make too many appeals or burden anyone with my requests. My name is Nada, and I live in Gaza, where life is still crushed under the weight of war and all the pain and loss it has brought. Anyone who believes the war is over does not understand the suffering we continue to endure every single day.
I lost my home, along with the sense of safety and stability it once gave us. I also lost my job and every saving I had built throughout my life. The loss is no longer just material — it feels like the loss of an entire lifetime and the future we once dreamed of.
Today, I am both a mother and a father to my children after their father suffered a devastating injury that caused him to lose one eye and severely damaged the other, leaving him unable to continue life as he once knew it. While trying to remain the support system for my family, I too went through a serious health condition that exhausted me physically and emotionally, yet I keep fighting so I do not collapse in front of my children.
I try to stay strong, not because I do not feel pain, but because my children need me. They need someone who can still give them hope amid all this destruction. We have lost so much, and perhaps even lost the future we once imagined, but we are still holding on to a small glimmer of hope and faith that there are kind people willing to help us save what remains of a life that has been shattered.
We are not asking for the impossible. We are simply searching for a chance to stand again, to protect our children from further loss, and to regain a small part of the dignity and security that war has taken from us.

On Gaza’s Hospital Beds… A War That Never Ends
When you walk into a hospital in Gaza, you do not only see patients…
You see the faces of a war that is still alive, even if the sound of shelling has faded and the headlines have stopped speaking about it.
Here, within these cold walls, other wars continue to unfold;
silent wars the world cannot hear, yet they are far crueler than the noise of explosions.
It is a war that leaves its scars on bodies and hearts, then walks away, leaving people alone to face their pain.
Today, I saw a mother who lost her three children,
sitting there exhausted, as though life itself had suddenly drained from her face,
carrying in her chest a heart no longer capable of enduring such unbearable loss.
I saw a wife who lost her husband — the love and companion of her life —
struggling with dangerously high blood pressure that doctors could no longer control,
as if grief itself had become a disease flowing slowly through her veins.
There was also a little girl who lost her eye,
and with it, lost countless dreams she once carried;
small toys, a mirror she may fear looking into for too long,
and innocent hopes that were meant to grow with her, not be buried too soon.
And a child whose legs were amputated,
forced into a wheelchair before he could even learn how to run,
before he could know anything about life except pain.
Every time I look around, a crushing headache overwhelms me,
as though I have suddenly stepped into a horror film.
But the only difference is that what happens here is not fiction…
It is a living reality, painfully clear, breathing suffering every single moment.
Malnutrition exhausting fragile bodies,
heart disease and high blood pressure worsening without treatment,
missing limbs,
and injuries doctors can barely manage because of collapsing resources and impossible conditions.
They fought us with everything.
And today…
the war may appear quieter on the surface, but it still continues within;
inside hospitals, inside homes, and inside people’s souls.
There is not enough medicine,
no possibility of travel for critical patients,
and hospitals can barely handle the endless waves of suffering except for those standing closest to death.
Even the simplest medical tests now consume unimaginable amounts of money and time.
So what about those who need complex surgeries, continuous care, or medications that no longer exist at all?
And despite all of this…
many still choose to ignore our suffering,
as though this pain is not real,
or as though Gaza was created to endure sorrow alone..

This is not an ordinary place…
It is a prison I was forced to remain in,

Is death to become corpses beneath the earth?
Since this mad war erupted, I feel as though we have died countless times, even before the earth finally closed its last doors over us. Death has never been confined to a body pierced by a bullet, nor to a soul swallowed by a shell, nor to a house collapsing and burying its inhabitants alive… it has always been far wider than that, and far more invisible.
Death has been slipping in quietly, without noise, when safety evaporates from around us, and when the faces that once resembled us and completed us begin to fall away. We lose them as we lose ourselves, little by little. They are not buried by soil alone; sorrow takes part in burying us all, until we become strangers to our own earliest features.
We have become bodies walking on the earth, carrying paths our limbs remember, while our souls lag behind somewhere we can no longer see. We wither in silence, and fade slowly, without even noticing the moment absence began to creep inside us.
I have lost so much… of my life, my spirit, my certainty that I am still me. I have become a being that continues to pass through days without truly touching life, as though I were only the remnants of someone who was once here.
And today, I feel that what remains of the fragile threads that hold me to this world is silently unraveling… as if everything inside me is approaching an edge that has no name.

The Silent War
War has left no corner within us untouched, yet despite its prolonged brutality, it has failed to extinguish what remains in our hearts of determination to live. War is not always the loud destruction wrought by cannons and missiles; it can be another, more hidden and bitter face—an everyday battle we fight simply to survive, to continue, and to grant our children a chance at a more merciful tomorrow.
In this silent confrontation with reality, we stumble and collapse at times, only to rise again as though we are reinventing ourselves each time. We try to become stronger than we are, to cling to what remains of our capacity to endure, fighting for details that may seem small to others, yet have become in our lives matters of survival: medicine, food, and a drop of water obtained with great hardship.
We strive to secure for our children their right to education, even when schools have vanished and roads have turned into temporary tents, and even when the costs—though seemingly symbolic—press upon our souls beyond what we can bear. And what is most painful is when the one expected to carry the burden of this war and lead the path of resilience becomes, themselves, in need of support.
Illness has exhausted the body, but it has not been able to strip away what remains within of strength. I am still standing, still resisting, still believing that within this harsh expanse of war there is room for life, no matter how much the world around us tightens..

Between “I’m Fine” and the Truth of What’s Breaking Inside
The phrase that unsettles those around me the most, that weighs heavily on their ears, is my saying: I’m fine.
A sentence that seems fleeting, yet convinces no one… not even me. As if it were a linguistic mask I wear whenever I fail to explain what is breaking inside me.
In this war, the blows were not rare; they were continuous and harsh, striking the soul before the body.
We lost so much… in fact, we lost something deeper than loss itself. Our shock in some people was greater than what the mind can comprehend; we saw faces fall away from their masks, and others reshape themselves into strange versions, even to their own owners.
We lived through famine, displacement, and deprivation, until pain was no longer an exception but a daily companion, part of our smallest details.
And amid all this, traits we never knew in people awakened: greed spread, betrayal was exposed, and selfishness grew—not as passing traits, but as deep wounds that silently tore our social fabric apart.
I have endured many breakdowns, and crises have become entangled around me until my possibilities were suffocated.
And yet… I kept trying.
Not for myself alone, but for my children, for those under my care, for eyes that depend on me for stability and safety. I resisted my weakness, because my weakness is not a personal matter; when I bend, the small world I carry on my shoulders loses its balance.
Gaza was not destroyed only in its buildings and infrastructure, and the loss was not merely material—something deeper was broken: our bonds, our trust, and the warmth of our relationships that used to mend us whenever we fractured.
At the heart of this chaos:
the strong is not the one who does not feel pain,
but the one who can hold himself together in the storm and manage his losses as best as he can.
Weakness, on the other hand, is not a tear or a pain—it is losing one’s compass and harming oneself and those around them.
That is why…
when I say “I’m fine,” those around me are disturbed.
Because they see what I cannot say, and feel what I hide behind my silence.
But the truth I cannot afford to deny is:

Absent Meanings
In recent days, a bitter certainty has taken root within me: that those who survive genocide do not emerge from it as they once were; survival itself leaves behind a hidden void in the soul—one that cannot be seen, yet is deeply felt.
I survived genocide, yet my survival was not complete. I found myself facing an illness with no clear origin, as if it were an extension of what has accumulated within—of the weight of experience and the harshness of what we have endured.
Last night was so painful that I believed its end might be my own end as well. I went through a severe relapse, during which I felt, for moments, as if my soul was being silently pulled away, as if life were gently and painfully slipping from me, beyond resistance.
I fell asleep, and the last thing on my mind was my loved ones, and how I might leave them behind in this world. I fell asleep believing it might be my final sleep.
Today, I realize that simply remaining until this moment is not something ordinary, but closer to a quiet, inexplicable miracle.
I write these words not in search of pity, but in search of sincere support, warm solidarity, and a humane word that might help me continue on this path..

Memories are a burning fire… they do not provide warmth, but rather consume what remains inside in a slow, unbearable silence.
During the last bombardment that struck our homes, I reached my hand through the rubble, and the first thing I unconsciously grasped was my mobile phone, as if I were saving something ordinary… unaware that I was pulling from beneath the ruins a small curse that would stay with me for a long time, multiplying within me over the days until it became an invisible pain.
When I opened my photo gallery, my eyes fell specifically on this image… and it felt as though it had never been taken at all, but rather born from ashes to reignite everything I thought had already faded.
By nature, I was calm, concealing the turbulence of my soul behind a carefully crafted stillness. And whenever anger intensified within me or tension grew heavy, I did not face the world—I withdrew into my scribbles… into drawing. I used to love sketching cartoon characters with charcoal, letting my lines speak what my tongue could not endure. But this particular image… was the only one I drew with markers, as if I wanted it to be more present, more intense… or perhaps more honest than I could admit.
In the past, I used to think I was suffocating under great matters, carrying burdens beyond my capacity. But today, I realize those “great matters” were nothing but passing details… details that were once called luxury, and later became a luxury even to remember.
Only now have I understood the meaning of stress when it loses its name. It is no longer an emotion released onto paper, nor a black line that calms the heart afterward. It has become a pain that quietly seeps into the body, gnawing at it from within without noise, leaving us exhausted… long before we appear so.

Today I was at the hospital, and it was an unbearably heavy day. There, it becomes clear that war does not reach people only through missiles and bullets, but slips into them in a far quieter and more merciless way; in bodies exhausted by fear even before illness, in blood pressure rising like an echo of anxiety, and in strokes arriving as the silent ending of stories still left untold.
Every corner there held a suspended story, and every bed carried a pain too heavy to be spoken. As if loss had not been content with what it took, but had returned to root itself within us in the form of illnesses silently consuming us from the inside.

So you won’t be deceived.

Do not take a smile as proof of contentment, nor silence as acceptance… for we are still there, suspended in the very first moment when everything began to collapse. We are still standing at that heavy beginning, where falls followed one another—relentless, merciless, without pause.
Since our souls began to fracture even before our hearts, and since breaking became our constant companion, until we were filled beyond what can be endured… beyond what can be told or survived.

Our Experiences in War – From the Heart💔💔
Before the war, I dreamed of a simple moment… drinking tea over a wood fire, the smell of cheese-toast baking over flames, the warmth of the fire that comforts the soul.
I heard about it often and imagined how it would taste, and how it would fill the house with warmth and comfort.
But after the war, with the gas cut off, everything changed. Everything related to fire and wood became a source of hatred and fear.
The task of lighting the fire fell on the women. You start as if it’s a normal task, and it ends with a wave of coughing that pierces your chest, leaving you covered in soot, as if you were a person in an explosion.
You’re forced to use whatever comes to hand: paper, empty bottles, cardboard… anything except wood, because of its high price.
Your hands, your face—everything is blackened, and even the mirror reflects only a stranger you don’t recognize
Often, a wave of laughter overtakes me… at my soot-stained appearance… and then it turns into deep crying. I sit on the floor of my tent, crying, looking around, asking myself: Where am I? Who am I now? How did all this happen?
I once had a home, an electric stove, a microwave, an ordinary life full of safety…
Now I have returned to the primitive age. I have lost everything: my home, my work, my car, my savings. I try to breathe… I try to find food that resembles food, a drink that resembles a drink, a life that resembles life… but the truth is bitter, the reality is painful
And so, this harsh reality was imposed on us.
But the question that always haunts me: Why didn’t it come with a complete erasure of our memories?
All this pain, all this loss, all this devastation… and why have our memories remained trapped between destruction and ashes?

How do we receive the news of the martyrdom of our beloved ones!!💔💔
Let me tell you today about the first blow life dealt me… or let me describe it more precisely, the first stab: the martyrdom of my brothers.
For two and a half years, my heart has refused to move past that moment. I was displaced in Rafah, renting a house with a group of friends. It was the best option, considering that my husband spent more than 22 hours in the hospital, and on some days he was forced to be away for several days.
I stood on the balcony overlooking a border area, staring at our stolen land, now covered with settlements, while we, unfortunately, lived in utter darkness, and the settlements were lit at night.
That day, I felt an intense pain in my chest. My children had gone to sleep, and it was 7:00 PM, while my husband was in the hospital. It was December 2nd, the second month of the war.
The pain overwhelmed me without warning, and I began to cry uncontrollably, missing my brothers deeply. Memories of the afternoon came back to me; my daughter was telling me that if the war ended and we returned north, she would go stay with her grandmother for two weeks, longing for her maternal uncles.
My brothers were very close to me; the elder was like a second father, and the younger was my closest friend. I prayed and asked God to reunite me with them safely, but the crying continued—perhaps caused by my longing for them. I washed my face over and over, but I could not stop the torrent of tears. I tried calling my mother, but the line was cut off and there was no network. In the end, I surrendered to sleep.
I awoke to movement, grabbed my phone, and saw it was 6:30 AM. I got up to find my husband entering from the hospital. I asked if he wanted a cup of coffee; he said yes, he would take a quick shower and return to the hospital, and the car would come back in half an hour.
I lit a small fire on the balcony and started preparing a cup of coffee that resembled everything but coffee. I looked at the area before me—ominous black clouds sent shivers through my body.
I heard my husband’s phone ring. I thought they had rushed him; often he was forced to return after a few minutes. I carried the cup, and he was speaking strangely, lifting his gaze and turning the phone away from me. I put down the cup after feeling a tremor… his face looked like the Angel of Death, the spirit being taken from him.
I heard him say to the person on the line: “Go down, I’ll talk to you.” I could feel his hands trembling, and his words were broken as he spoke. He hung up. I asked him: “What happened?”
He deliberately avoided looking at my face and said: “I’m hungry, help me get something to eat together.” Even though neither of us eats at this hour.
With words full of fear, I asked: “Is my family okay?” He, avoiding my gaze, replied: “What does your family have to do with this?” Then he added: “A friend of mine from the Gaza hospital, how does he know your family?” He tapped my shoulder and said: “Quickly.”
I was wearing my jacket, my hair loose, and went to the room with my children. I grabbed my phone like a robot and called my mother. I felt my heartbeat race a million times faster. When the line connected, I breathed a sigh of relief… but it wasn’t my mother’s voice. I asked: “Where’s Mama?” Our neighbor answered: “Here, Nada, don’t worry, your mother is fine.” I breathed more easily and felt temporary relief.
I asked: “Is everyone okay?” She said: “I don’t know how to tell you…” I felt as if death had stolen my soul when I heard her words: “Your brothers have been martyred, and your father and mother went to say their farewell.” I hung up without responding and sat on the floor, feeling my legs give way and my soul withdraw from my body.
My husband came to hurry me to prepare food, but he stopped speaking when he saw me like this with the phone in my hand. He asked: “Did you call anyone?” I raised my eyes barely able to see him, held up two fingers, and said: “Both of them, both.” He came closer quickly, held my shoulders, and said: “Nothing for sure, be strong.”
I said: “My mom and dad went to say their farewells to them.” I felt him crying, and I felt that I had lost the ability to see.
He said: “Say, may God accept them, patience comes at the first shock.” Seconds passed, and everyone in the house gathered. I kept telling myself: So it’s true, my brothers have left this life… how is this possible? I didn’t say goodbye, didn’t hold them, didn’t ask them to stay by my side. I just cried… my daughters collapsed after hearing this news. I remained silent except for my tears and memories, like a knife killing inside.
Everyone was around me, and I was in another world, hearing the ache of the soul, but I didn’t know this would truly happen. I truly felt fires that would not extinguish in my chest.
My mother called my husband, and when she spoke, she was firm: “Be strong.” This is what she had written for them since they were fetuses in my womb—that they would die at this moment.
I asked her: “And the only words you spoke, were their bodies whole or dismembered?” She answered: “Whole, Mama, they kissed and said goodbye, they were like the moon.” I felt my mother choking despite wearing her robe of strength. My beloveds were buried in each other’s embrace. I felt I was losing consciousness.
Later, I learned that she had collapsed while speaking to those around her, instructing them about me: “Don’t leave Nada alone, stay with her.” I was denied a proper farewell. I requested photos after their martyrdom, but they refused.
I later learned that the person who called my husband was indeed a friend who had seen the news on television. My younger brother was a university lecturer, and I learned from those at home that they found out the same way. Even now, I feel the burn of that moment and the pain; it refuses to leave me, and I feel the injustice of not having said goodbye.

Being a mother in war is not just a challenge… it is a nightmare that drains your soul every moment. Every passing day feels like an endless test, and every choice seems impossible. Being a mother means carrying everything on your shoulders, protecting your children from a world falling apart around them, even while feeling completely powerless.
I remember days when we had to force ourselves to divide a single loaf of bread into tiny pieces to distribute to our children, trying to trick hunger even for a moment. Sometimes we had to reheat those pieces over and over to prevent them from spoiling, until they turned dark and almost black, and we served them to our hungry children… while we cried in despair and helplessness. But there was no choice; the child needed to eat, no matter how painful the circumstances.
Even worse, we cannot sleep—not just because of the rockets or the buzzing of planes, but from the deep fear that your child might sleep and not wake up because of what they ate. You know it usually doesn’t kill, but your thoughts gnaw at your heart, and despair presses on your chest, leaving you feeling completely helpless

I have often told you about my husband’s injury, but I never shared the details of what happened on April 6th last year. We still owned two houses at the time, and we were sitting in one of them, while my parents had taken refuge with us after being forced to leave their home.
Around four in the afternoon, my husband came to change his clothes before returning to the hospital, and the ambulance was still waiting. He asked me if I needed anything, and I said no. Then he said, “Samer, go to the supermarket and get a few things.” We still had some savings.
My child heard this and shouted, “I’ll come with you to the supermarket!” My husband laughed and said, “I’ll wait for you downstairs.” My child took a little longer, busy putting on his shoes. Seconds later, a massive explosion rocked the area. The smell of gunpowder spread, and I heard the sound of glass shattering inside the house before I regained consciousness.
My daughter screamed “Daddy,” as if something demonic had struck her. I couldn’t understand what was happening. My feet carried me to the room where my daughter stood near the balcony, her face lifeless. My other daughter stood frozen, speechless.
I held my daughter, who could only cry out, “Daddy… Daddy.” In that moment, I realized the magnitude of the disaster. I pulled my hijab, and before I could reach my husband, my son came running in crying. I felt every cell in my body shudder at his fragmented words and sobs: “Daddy… they took him in the ambulance.” I sank into the nearest chair. Moments later, the neighbors filled the place, and the future seemed uncertain.
I left my children and rushed to the hospital, where the tragedy unfolded in all its details: the smell of blood was everywhere, and everyone was in shock. My mother and I asked about my husband’s whereabouts and found his colleagues at work. One of them shouted, “We need blood donors; he’s bleeding!” I felt like I was living in a dream, everything around me invisible. My mother grabbed my hand and said, “Be strong.”
Unfortunately, my husband was hit by shrapnel in his lung and head, and the most tragic was the shrapnel that struck his eye, causing severe bleeding. The bleeding was controlled with great difficulty, and after a few days, an urgent medical transfer abroad was arranged.
Sadly, my husband lost his eye and needs to travel to have the shrapnel removed, relieve the pain, and have a prosthetic eye fitted. His other eye was also severely affected. This marked a turning point in our lives, from bad to worse, and I became a mother and responsible for a family of seven.
Let me tell you: throughout the war, my husband worked tirelessly in the hospital, day and night, and now he suffers excruciating pain amid scarce painkillers and restricted access to treatment. I never imagined that someone who dedicated himself to serving others could be injured and denied care.
This is not an isolated problem—it is the tragedy of thousands of injured people living the same harsh reality. In the incident that injured my husband, 22 people lost their lives, leaving behind indescribable pain and shattered families.

Recently, the issue of private mentions has emerged, causing the suspension of many accounts. In addition, general mentions—combined with some bad luck I encountered—also led to the suspension of my account. I had to look for a safe refuge until I moved my account to Fabio’s server, who kindly hosted me.
My question is: why do donors often respond to private messages more than others, even though the content of private messages is usually similar to that of public messages?
To be honest with myself and with others, there was a period when I sent private messages to those we follow, but in a very cautious and simple way. I am not an angel; I am a human being full of flaws like everyone else, and I make mistakes like anyone else.
My other question is: why aren’t private messages and their senders ignored until they give up sending them? This way, everyone is not disturbed, and donations can be distributed fairly according to what the donor deems appropriate, without any pressure.
The problem is not in giving… but in the lack of fairness in directing it.
What truly hurts is that there are those who suffer in silence and receive nothing, while support keeps going repeatedly to the same people.
This is a painful reality. It may be misunderstood if spoken about openly, but ignoring it is no less cruel than its existence.
All I hope for… is that help reaches those who truly deserve it, fairly, and that there is a better way to ensure donations are distributed justly—so that good intentions are not lost along the way.
I am merely raising inquiries, but I see that the main reason is the response to private messages. This creates a clear imbalance in distribution; some people earn more than $1,500 weekly, while others’ balances remain at zero.
I hope this topic can be an opportunity for open and constructive discussion so that we can all understand the situation and find fairer and more transparent solutions

I was visiting Mama in the southern part of the Gaza Strip after our house was demolished. My family in the north had to leave and move south.
And when I returned to the north, I no longer returned to a familiar place, but like someone coming back burdened by a long path of pain—a path that brought me back to the last vivid memory I had with my siblings.

I miss my siblings so much… they were not just brothers, but my true support in this life.

I remember the details of that trip as if it were happening now…
They were tired from work, yet they asked me to accompany them.
They didn’t know that until five in the evening, I had been immersed in preparing the graduation ceremony for the high-achieving students…
Yet I did not hesitate. I drove them myself, because they didn’t want to drive while exhausted.
I remember…
I had taken off my shoes while driving, and my brother lightly tapped my head as he laughed:
“Foolish girl, are you driving without shoes? Let me take a picture for your manager who’s so proud of you!”
Then he continued joking:
“Who’s the idiot that let you teach university students while you’re just a little fool?”
I smiled… and didn’t tell him I had been on my feet since morning.
As for my younger brother… he came closer, put his hand on my shoulder, and said with unforgettable tenderness:
“My sister… the most beautiful and smartest fool in the world.”
Oh God… how much comfort I felt with them around.
I wasn’t afraid of the days, as long as they were by my side.
But, even if this painful reality was forced upon us…
why can’t the memories be erased too?
Why do they remain alive with such depth, bringing us back to loss every time, as if the wound is never satisfied with us just once?
I cried a lot… I miss them to the point of pain.
My siblings were martyred… on the same day.
On that trip… I told them it was my first time visiting Rafah.
And Gaza… was stunningly beautiful.
I was proud of belonging to this piece of land.
I did not know… that one day I would arrive in the southern Gaza Strip as a displaced person, homeless…
