Something that listeners may not know about the world of audiobooks:
Authors choose which platforms to sell their audiobooks on. Narrators don't!
Narrators are guns for hire. We show up and do the work, but authors control the business decision.
Listeners sometimes tell me that they wish the books I narrate were available on a particular platform, or that they *weren't* on particular big monopoly sites.Me too, friends! But as a narrator I don't call those shots.

This is why I go out of my way to make my friends feel valued, accepted and appreciated.
Because I have no idea how vulnerable or secure anyone is feeling in a given moment.
I adore my friends. And when they most need to know that, they are typically least able to ask.

More people are indicating that they listen to scifi audiobooks than I expected!
I'll point out that I have narrated one science fiction audiobook, which is hard to find in my catalogue: The Giantess Slave, by Amber Collins.
It's super short, low spice, campy, and fun! I had a blast performing the Mad Lady Scientist Voice, too.
(It's also a book that multiple listeners have told me that they like to play to help them fall asleep -- it's an odd kind of back-handed compliment, but if it's helping people fall asleep I'm happy about that!)

A little poll about audiobooks for people who follow me!
I'm curious how many of my followers listen to audiobooks. I'm guessing that a lot of you do and that's why/how you found me, but also that not all of you do -- and some of you probably don't know I'm an audiobook narrator.
I didn't have enough poll options to include non-fiction, but if you like non-fic audiobooks, I'd love to know that, too.
If I'd had more poll options, I would have also included the chance to indicate that you didn't know I narrate audiobooks -- I'm also really curious about that.

I used to ask, when a guy was getting out of line with me: "How would you feel if someone treated your mom / sister / daughter this way?" or "How would you want your mom / sister / daughter to respond in this kind of situation?"
It's a way to reframe me, even though I'm a woman, as a human being who deserves respect and decency, not an object or an NPC.
But I think all these years I've been doing it wrong.
Instead, I now ask: "Would you treat your (male) boss or another high status man this way?" or "Would you behave this way in front of your boss or another man who wields power in your life?"
Because it was never about me at all. It's about whether they'll face consequences for their actions.

I used to do a post for National Redhead Day to promote my audibooks with redheads -- but I changed instances (when Smutlandia went offline), and I no longer remember which books they are. 😅
If you've listened to any of my books that include redheads, can you let me know which ones?

I was talking with a friend about dating apps, privacy, security and safety.
They are using Feeld, which lets you tag specific kinks -- and which changed their TOS about 2 years ago (IIRC) to specify that they sell user data. (In a massive betrayal of the trust and safety of their user base.)
My friend's response was that they aren't ashamed of who they are and if an app wants to sell their data, no big deal.
My position was that in a time of rising fascism, it's really worth thinking about how in the 1930's, IBM set up the systems to tag and sort people by "undesirable" qualities. In Germany.
I fear for people with all my heart.
For the reading comprehension impaired, let me be clear: I'm not telling anyone not to live their life. I'm saying be smart, raise your game on privacy and security, and keep yourself and your people as safe as you can in a brutal world.

Lockdown and Dirty is a high heat/slow-burn friends-to-lovers story about roommates too shy to make the first move. It's an erotic romance on the theme of active, enthusiastic consent. It's extremely hot, it's one of my most popular audibooks, and Guy and I won an audiobook award for it.
