I hope you didn't close you cashapp account in haste. Normally there is some nuance to this & also I've seen that the account for Chester has already been reinstated.
If you think about it logically, Block started using AI to reduce human capital expenditure. This looks like automated process that obviously makes mistakes. It just took Chester using the bitcoin community to get a human to override the mistake. Bitcoiners have this wild tendency to grant no grace/leeway to bitcoin companies. I get it, but it sure as heck makes the whole industry look bad in the end

2026-04-13 18:38:28 UTC

Had an idea pop into my head on Friday which I've been ruminating on the whole weekend. It's a trivial ideal, yet a gargantuan task for humans to plan & execute. The idea came because I have a bunch of gift cards for places that are not near me any longer or have balances too small for me to warrant buying anything from that designated merchant. I started thinking about, what happens if a merchant goes out of business. What happens to those funds?
TL;DR - Break the boundaries of gift cards; Use ANY gift card the way YOU want to; Disrupt the norm
I could try and build a business around it, then pitch it to Block Inc., in an attempt to get acquired. This would take too long and would take too much human capital to develop (as I only have slight payments experience & very limited software developing skills). It would also assume that I want to profit from this idea, which is not the case. I believe strongly that open source is the way #opensourcedideas #opensourceeverything
Below are a couple physical notes, including some of my thoughts so far

Likewise, I appreciate we could discuss this in a civil manner (quite rare these days)
I find appealing to the text in the white paper, in today's context vs. when it was written, requires also acknowledging that the code pushed on Jan 3 2009 is not the same as it is today. Hell, even the 21M supply cap wasn't coded in the original software release (see https://github.com/bitcoin/bips/blob/master/bip-0042.mediawiki ), nor was the supply cap even mentioned in the white paper. Op_return wasn't added until 2014 (same version release [Bitcoin Core version 0.9.0] that the above BIP was added to consensus). So to appeal to the white paper as the absolute intent of the project would be a little faulty in my opinion

From what I've looked into it, running knots doesn't protect you from other's using the network for their own agenda (I'm not co-signing anyone else's agenda, as I only control what I can control). You can run knots, but know that the node software will still carry (cache) at least 100 non standard transactions in order to help with block reconstruction. I get the fact that no one wants to be associated with things they believe are abhorrent (I don't either), but it simply is not true that these things would be plain text and human readable/discernible without willingly running the bytes through a translator (decryption). *Also, this type of info is being XOR'd (obfuscated) through randomized XOR-key (making it more difficult to simply unscramble, kinda like the idea of a nonce [number once])
*This is assuming you are running Core 28 or newer with initial block download. If running a prior version, there is an XOR tool that does not require you to re-download the entire block history again.
The main goal should be to have honest users making transactions using bitcoin's network to drown out any perceived illicit materials making it's way into blocks (gate-kept by block size and fees), not appeal to authority based on subjective (albeit consensus) morality
I'd push back on point 1.
You want bitcoin to be a monetary network (and by your measure it very well might be). This won't be absolutely true until it is unanimously used as such by all humans on this planet. Until then, the absolute truth is that bitcoin is a messaging system (based on concise design of the code being run)
I agree with point 2. The only problem here is that what is considered 'illicit' or undesirable changes throughout history. This creates a constant power struggle over the narrative of what is subjectively undesirable to the largest cohort of humans
As to point 3., my original post was being facetious, being we are using that platform right now. I'm trying to draw the parallels between both networks. Nostr, at is foundation, is a messaging network (just as bitcoin is). The problem of content (or transaction) curation leads to the issue mentioned above about point 2.
I appreciate your response and respect it. These are ultimately my thoughts and it is not meant to be imposed on you. Please run Knots or whatever software you choose. Ultimately I find we can all be stronger together and will find the way through discourse. Cheers!

I got lost in a thread of your studybitcoin posts that were quote-posting prior study material. So that led me to make one comment generally on the AI text (not specific to the post wrt to analyzing P's original post). For clarity, this method of learning is great, but some of the info is missing context or full information. I understand getting the general gist is normally sufficient, but with bitcoin there are so many nuances that are normally missed (evidenced by Grok, for example, having convos with tenured & technical individuals on X needing to be corrected on certain aspects it responded confidently on)

This is the response I would have expected to my first comment, not a chatGPT response bloated with wordy (most likely biased & potentially non factual) “science”. However, grains are not inherently “good” or “bad”. They are naturally occurring in this world and many of our ancestors have sustained themselves on them. I understand being cognizant of what our food eats, but how privileged it is to even have this preference.

Thanks for the chatGPT response, but it literally doesn’t address why grains are bad, as suggested in your OP. I don’t see what is wrong with grains. The beef from my rancher here in Texas is grass fed, grain finished. It’s amazingly tasty, nutritious & contains more fat marbling through the cuts. AnchorWatch raises funds to purchase small regional insurance companies. Take the premiums paid by customers and use that cash to purchase bitcoin. Public & customers don’t even need to know the company holds the bitcoin. AnchorWatch takes loans against the bitcoin in treasury to pay claims. Claims paid out in cash like normal, but the treasury of the company continues to grow in bitcoin. Eventually you can acquire larger insurance companies to employ the same strategy. To your first inquiry, I would answer that it is impossible to deal with absolutes in life. There will always be some authority of one group of humans over another to some extent. In current western society, the church (majorly influenced by Christianity) has no enforcement body that limits women’s agency. It is the State and individuals representing the State that wield this “authority” and enforce it, many times using religious values as justification of action. In other societies, religious patriarchy IS the State & does directly limit women’s agency. A literal execution of the word of their religion in real, everyday life. Arguably, in this framing, Christianity and the Bible serve as moral guidelines, but not forced behavior in real life. Although the biblical scriptures have content that was considered acceptable at the time of its writing, doesn’t mean these texts need to be interpreted and acted upon in the most literal way. Women factually have more agency under Christian influence than some other religions (not all, but I’m also not educated enough on all religions to opine further). This isn’t me justifying or promoting subjugation of females, but it does hold some weight and points to the more important question of: why do we seek agency from religion or government in the first place?
This leads to addressing your second inquiry. There are Christian apologists and others who try to modernize Christianity (as it is practiced). I think you’d enjoy Rev. Timothy Keller’s vast writing on these types of topics where Christianity and its values/traditions are questioned. I personally gained a interest to his teachings through his book “The Reason For God” which explores skeptics’ hesitations toward accepting the Bible and/or Christian beliefs.

2024-09-29 00:42:30 UTC

- reply

Yes these are excerpts from the Bible. Some taken out of context, but I agree these are heavily skewed against women’s agency. I’ve never heard any of these passages used in sermon, nor have I read them as moral guidance. But to denounce the entire Bible as sexist because of these passages and say that all historical patriarchal structures are bad seems to be a stretch to me.
That said, I respectfully remain to disagree with the OP. I truly do appreciate your willingness to share this much. I also respect your contributions to bitcoin/lightning adoption. Have a great rest of your day

So personally (and I’m speaking from my perspective), I consider my dad the patriarch of my family. Him and my mother raised 3 kids and I never experienced any time where he subjugated my mom in any role. Not as a mother. Not in her career. So to me, patriarchy and subjugation are not synonymous, hence the original question. As so, I also don’t read the Bible and interpret it as suppressing women either. Each gender has a role and they are compliments of each other. Counterparts so to say. I was simply trying to gain another perspective as to why the recent movement of anti-patriarchy was showing up in my feeds lately

Ahh ok, maybe I just never noticed this in the past. I do know that my phones battery is pretty shot as well, which can’t help the situation

I guess it’s just my phone. It’s older so maybe that’s why

Primal works better than it was last week, but now it’s making my phone run super hot and drains the battery, even when plugged into the charger. Anyone else experiencing this?

Hit a block with my creative energy. Projects stalled. Trying to get that motivation back. Time for a long walk without the phone

Visas days are numbered. MC, Amex, Discover. All of them. People will take back the transfer of value between us. Swipe fees will be a thing of the past, to be replaced with on-chain or lightning routing fees
