A predictable scenario tomorrow is that Trump will repeat Putin’s “offer” which is unacceptable for Ukraine as everybody knows beforehand, but what is then the next step? Diplomats from the EU are no doubt frantically preparing next steps. The worst thing that can happen is that Trump starts distancing himself from Ukraine and Europe with regard to this war. That is simply too early, Europe is not ready for that, it will be interesting to see how everything develops…

The courts are not going to stop Musk / DOGE / Trump breaking down government. Things have to get much worse before there is a chance that they get better I am afraid. From a technology perspective things will get messy in Europe, Vance has confirmed the US will go in full attack against our regulations (AI Act, DSA , DMA etc), how will we react, will we compromise or not? Big risks are involved because we are extremely dependent on US tech. The US could "shut us down" if they like...(Cloud, services etc). We need Generative AI that is optimized to keep humans critical of the results it's producing, to get the best result of the combination of human+AI , there is a lot to win. First in the behaviour of humans and that we learn how to use AI to augment are capabilities, how we adopt a way of working that tackles the intrinsic unreliablity of AI (although that is decreasing). The design of the user experience and interaction needs more attention in relation to these points.

The difference between how good NotebookLM is and how terrible Gemini Pro sometimes can be, illustrates the importance of everything around models like Gemini,ChatGPT, Claude etc. Supporting algorithms, contextwindows, chain-of-tought, RAG, tuning, grounding, interface etcetera, are just as important for the perfomance of the actual application or service. Therefore the chance of real "AI winter" is small in my view, even if the models themselves don't improve that much

Nog maar een keer delen omdat het zo slecht is. Motie Bente Becker van de VVD om de overheid culturele en religieuze normen en waarden van nederlanders met een migratieachtergrond te laten bij houden. Zo kwalijk en slecht dit, discriminerend, stigmatiserend, risicovol qua registratie etc.

Discovered I can play my Ubisoft games I purchased while I had #GoogleStadia , I can now play them for free on Amazon Luna because I have a Prime account and it's able to connect to Ubisoft. Nice to have AC Odyssey and AC Origins back , great games.

@npub146t…cfpw Bluesky heeft veel aantrekkelijke kanten ( @erikjonker.bsky.social ) maar Mastodon vind ik zelf toch fijner werken, ook is volstrekt onduidelijk hoe het verder met Bluesky gaat qua bedrijsmodel en je "vertrekt"/wisselt niet zo eenvoudig als Mastodon (je bent zo naar een andere instance vertrokken met al je volgers).

I am wondering about Bluesky , Mastodon and Threads. After Mastodon I am now also trying Bluesky which "feels" nice , also the atmosphere is positive. But on a technical level I think Bluesky may be a dead end. When threads gets serious with federating/connecting to the Fediverse, together with Mastodon, Fediverse/activitypub will have more mass. Bluesky has chosen a different protocol sadly.
Any thoughts or opinions?

Ofcourse @npub15dw…kg2d was right when he predicted that the top foundation models would encounter diminishing returns and could be in some ways in a dead-end street on the road to "AGI". However current models with current capabilities will still cause a big revolution/disruption. NotebookLM is a good example, that works on basis of Gemini 1.5, not the best model, still the implementation/application made the difference.
