A grain elevator at Oelrichs, #SouthDakota. The rail here was laid in 1899. It’s 90 pound #rail, which is considerably lighter than the 141 pound rail used today. The old #steel wears better than the newer steel made today, which is a comment on the quality of steel made today versus that of yesteryear.
