Honestly the more and more I read into Monero the more I want to build into it. I love Bitcoin and everything's that's been built so far. But there's not enough people focusing on the big important stuff like privacy, and supply being sunk into ETFs/ETNs and "treasury companies" along with people only focusing on NGU.
Lightning is good once you understand it and build upon it. But it is slowly becoming the opposite of what it was meant to do. Over time if people only use LN it makes the main layer less protected by there being less fees for the miners working towards a block and the subsidies running out over time.
Don't get me wrong, I still believe in Bitcoin. But there's a lot of work to do. The best middle ground I found for to support both LN and the main layer is to use submarine swaps on LN/BTC to support both miners and the lightning network.

Honestly @npub1yzv…rf8q has become my go to for Nostr and my LN wallet for everyday payments. It makes things simple, using data only and using Keet as my messenger and calling has changed the game too. I don't use my phone for anything else, desktops are good for those who mainly stay at home or don't need as much hardware.
But if you were to help someone move to using desktop only, what would you recommend them?

Oh they just have to restart the mint. This happens because of how funky Mints are when you pay a HODL invoice. Either you wait for it to settle or have the Mint restart to sync up your proofs with the LN node.

What dot and trigger are you leaning towards. I'm stuck with either going for a new red dot from holosun or keeping my old one.
I get that 100%, that's why I take my time on my mods. I've had a bad issue before with my old gen 3 when I wanted to mod it to oblivion. 😂
Honestly my builds good so far, I just need to find a light and to get a better trigger tbh. So far its as bare bones as a pistol can get. I'm thinking of building one similar to a Roland special for simplicity. My competition days are over and I just need something practical and reliable.

Honestly a good brand of repairable ear buds are from the people who make Fairphones, they're called Fairbuds I think? 🤔
You can repair nearly everything on them including the speakers which is wild. They sound pretty good, I had a pair and I refurbished them and gave them as a parting gift to my friend in China. She loves them too!

Cashu is the worst for self sovereignty. You trust that the mint doesn't make more Ecash than Bitcoin in reserves and that they don't run away with the coins. Lightning takes time to set up and tends to centralize to pools of liquidity.

Honestly I thought Maximalism was the way. But after going through and experience with a friend in need of help. I realized Monero isn't a shitcoin and can be a viable currency. I say research it more thoroughly before sticking your head in the sand. I have a video I shared that really does a good job explaining Monero and its economics.
Also Bitcoin isn't flawless we have a lot to address if we want to make this network of ours the standard for global economic system.

Let me ask you this. Do you use Bitcoin as 1BTC=1BTC or do you price things as BTC/USD?
If you value more the Fiat exchange rate than the actual currency then store value is moot, just go to fiat if it ultimately is value of the Bitcoin. If not then fiat prices shouldn't matter for the currency. Its based on the energy expended to create and maintain it that is the value of the currency. NGU is such a stupid metric to determine the value of a currency. It keeps us stuck relying on Fiat as the currency.

I said the same thing in the past. But there's a lot of resources to learn about Moneros privacy and how it works. There's not another currency like monero that's private like it. There's similar but not the same.
Bad opesec led to users being exposed, not the actual use of the currency itself.
Bitcoin L2s aren't all private and don't have those guarantees. The only one with the best is Lightning which is difficult to set up and centralizes over time and with the possibility of still being doxxed, Liquid network is just you trust them signers not to rug you, Cashu is just a currency backed by Bitcoin and you're hoping that the mint doesn't rug you, Spark can expose you and are very centralized.
You can get to the point of anonymous on Bitcoin. But it requires a lot of work to get it done. I've been doing it for a while and its a lot of work to maintain, which isn't bad. But if we want to claim that Bitcoin is better than Monero we have to realistic and honest.

I'm honestly still going to use Bitcoin along side Monero. Since I don't use any fiat at all because all my Bitcoin is from mining, bartering, or earning it as payment from my neighbors.
I will build up my stash of Monero, but I don't know whats a good hardware wallet that's open source. I love Monerujo so far as a wallet, but I dislike that it only supports ledger as the hardware wallet.

I mean you can build a portable NAS with a PI5. When I was a nomad I was using a portable NAS Pi and it worked super well when I needed to send and pull stuff from it. Its also good on power consumption for those who go on solar and try to be incognito in areas they're camping at.

Honestly its about them bending the knee. We have other manufacturers that provide the same or better quality than Glock. But it sets a precedent that manufacturers will most likely follow.
I love the creation of Glock, but I have my heart with the Ruger RXM as my main platform of choice.
