I wrote two weeks ago I expect some sort of conclusion to trade wars, positive development concerning Ukraine war and that the whole thing should be positive to financial markets although short term shakeout is possible. All of this aged well, more or less. But remember: the underlying imbalances and tensions in international relations and in American and European politics are far from any kind of solution. Therefore, we have to expect further ups and downs, and possibly further crises, in the coming year.

Looks like the time is showing us what will be the play during the next year or so. I wrote in one of my previous posts that I expect some sort of crisis of the MAGA movement during the next year and now it is becoming clearer what this crisis could be.... to disturb you right at the beginning I would say it resembles the developments during the French Revolution during its first years.
First, it looks to me Trump is failing, from the MAGA point of view. No Epstein files revealed, no deep state conspiracy revealed and no one arrested. War in Ukraine not stopping. INTEREST RATES not going down. Lots of talk about Powell, but no result. Trump only delivered on tariffs, and lower USD, but these WILL start pushing prices up.
Therefore the pressure will rise from the MAGA movement for more radical policies, for doing the REAL thing. At the start of the French revolution there were also nice guys who wanted to do things in basically soft way, like abbe Sieyes... and how did they end. How this will end this time is impossible to predict. Of course, the worst scenario is that Trump will be removed from power in one way or another to make way for the guys who will start solving the so called real issues.
I would say the most important events are just starting. Have your popcorn and watch.

And here you go.... I wrote in the note concerning the decline of the Roman Republic that the main cause of the decline was the inability to solve difficult social problems, basically conflicts between the main interest groups and that the same inability endangers our present society. A few days past and there are good examples of this.
In all main European countries we hear a similar mainstream narrative about the necessity of sacrifies that are demanded from the middle and lower income classess, not really from the upper classes.
British PM Starmer proposes to cut benefits to disabled people. In France, PM Bayrou presents budget for 2026 with cuts in all possible areas except defence. An in Germany, Chancellor Merz is calling upon Germans to work more. In the meantime the welath of the upper classes grows. The Green Deal policies will be financed by the middle income classes, because the upper class already knows how to benefit from them.
This is the way of the late Roman Republic.

I can't resist writing at least shortly about astrology. The first important astrological event of this summer is TOMORROW - new moon opposition Pluto, trine Neptune and Saturn and at the same time sextile Uranus. This extremely rare configuration is actually the beginning of a longer chain of events that will stay with us till at least 2026..... But no one knows what will happen. If I was to speculate I would expect end of the trade wars (trade deals!) and possibly even some positive development concerning war in Ukraine. Effect on financial markets should be in general positive although short shakeout is not impossible. BUT.... remember, the story is not yet behind us.

Some people say that our times resemble the decline of ancient Rome. Others agree but say that the comparable historical period is not really the decline of the imperial Rome in 5th century CE (the famous “fall of Rome”), but the decline of the Roman republic in the last centuries and decades BC. This topic caught my attention. There was a terrible snowstorm here for a couple of weeks, so I had time to re-read the history of the decline of the Roman republic. What I read was…. somewhat disturbing.
Ancient Roman state was a republic since very old times (510 BC?) till let’s say 31 BC when Octavian became de facto ruler of the Roman state and started to create imperial Rome. In sum the reason why the Roman republic declined was the inability to solve the problems of the day which I would call social-power problems. Problems involving the position, situation and relationships of various interest groups. A Marxist would probably call it class problems or something like this but there was more in it than class.
Example: there was a reformer called Gaius Gracchus who, among other, tried to solve the position of the people of Italy who were not citizens of Rome but often had tremendous merit in fighting for Rome in wars. He was explained by the established classes the this was far too radical and not important anyway and was killed. What ensued was terrible civil war (90-87 BC) that forced the state to solve the problem by offering citizenship to more people in Italy. I am simplifying the rather complex history, but you see the pattern: inability to solve a hard social problem in a peaceful and legal way lead to catastrophic civil war.
Comparison to the contemporary situation is disturbing. Inability to solve hard social issues is something we see all around ourselves. The basically degressive taxation, with billionaires evading taxes by using trusts and other aggressive tax strategies. In Europe, the massive costs of so-called Green Deal that will burden the middle class, with every billionaire already knowing how to make money in the “Green” economy by using subsidies. And you can continue. The feeling of injustice is pervading the Western world with many falling for conspiracy theories or trusting that the best friend of Epstein will release the Epstein files and purify American politics. Some want the rule of strong hand outright, a new Caesar, or Octavian.
If you continue reading my notes, I will explain a possible solution I see. It will involve a certain change of the political system, but a much different from the illusions mentioned above. Stay tuned.
Thank you for your attention to this matter!

Some readers ask me what I think about future. Therefore, I decided to write this post about astrology and probably this will be the only post I write about astrology.
Astrology is a speculative discipline that, in my experience is highly reliable in predicting that SOMETHING will happen, but it is always far more difficult to say WHAT will happen and what to do about it.
Let's dive in. As all astrologers say, the most important event of this and next year is Saturn conjunct Neptune at 1st degree Aries, the beginning of the Zodiac. This is perfect on 20 February 2026, but the effects happen already NOW, in summer 2025. What is fascinating is that this conjunction, significant on its own is joined by Pluto and Uranus to form a magical triange, a pattern that is usually interpreted as positive. Indeed, this pattern on the heaven is extremely rare and implies something like.... a new beginning....
But let's stay more on ground. Historically, at least in 20th century Saturn conjunct Neptune was strongly aligned with the history of communist movement and Russian history. 1917 - Bolshevik revolution. 1952/53 - death of Stalin, end of the revolutionary period. 1989 - end of communist regimes, fall of the Soviet Union. As you see, on these conjunctions something always ENDED (the Russian empire of the Tsars, Stalin's rule, communist rule in Eastern Europe. Therefore, the most natural interpretation of this astrological event is that Putin's regime in Russia will END, probably during 2026. The end will be quite swift and surprising to most. Provided the historical pattern holds.....
I suspect, however, that Saturn/Neptune conjunction may resonate also with the MAGA movement. Neptune symbolizes ideas, ideologies, Saturn (and Aries) require these to be put to practise, meet the reality (political movement, changes implemented, not only discussed). If this is so, the MAGA movement is headed to some sort of climax and probably crisis between summers of 2025 and 2026. How this crisis will unfold I don’t really want to speculate but I think it will have something in common with the ambitions of techno-billionaire group who will come to the point of NOW or NEVER.
Last, it seems Saturn/Neptune has something to do with the Ayatollahs regime in Iran. Neptune = ideas, ideology, religion, Saturn = system, government. When Israel and USA bombed Iran, Jupiter was square Saturn and Neptune. Therefore, I suspect Iran will continue to play some role in the events….
Something special will probably happen in the first half of August.
Anyway, enjoy summer.

If you want to get to power the best strategy is manipulate people into projecting their hopes into you and your movement. I don't quite understand how this is done but clearly it works for some reason. At some point people start projecting their wishes, hopes although it clearly doesn't make sense.
At the beginning of communist regimes some people belived the communists will support small businesses and peasants - they support small hard working people, don't they? The believers finished expropriated, some in jail or with bullet in their head.
Some people hoped Trump will open Epstein files, publish client list. It doesn't really make sense because he is imlicated himself... but nevertheless people believed. Some believed he will get public finances in order. It doesn't really make sense because he and the people around him have interest in assets going up in price.
And when all hope is gone, what will remain is raw power and manipulation. Opportunists and apparatchiks benefit.

Anyway I think the real objective of the technofascists is not to make governance better, or to improve anything. They real objective is to distract the massess from enormous wealth and privileges of the techno-billionaire class. The elites always need some narrative that will distract the normal people and make them look away from these "sensitive" topics. Otherwise, someone might come with the idea that instead of having a CEO-like dictator, Mr. Thiel  Co. should pay higher taxes. And that would be terrible attack on human rights and democratic freedoms!

2025-06-08 09:10:14 UTC

If the technofascist ideas prevail, where will they lead us? How will it all end? These ideas are nothing new, and history tells us how it will end. The primary example of a CEO-like dictator is Caesar, who even had the Senate as kind of Board to which he was presumably accountable. Yes, he was efficient, did many reforms. In the end the republic changed into a one-person tyranny.
Similar examples are Napoleon I as consul and then emperor, Napoleon III as President of second French republic and then emperor, in both cases the result was disastrous. Arguably Hitler, and you find many more or less good examples (Pilsudski, the dictators in Baltic countries before WWII, Pinochet, Porfirio Diaz…..). Arguably such an example is Putin, who lead Russia into a disastrous war against a brotherly nation.
The result is almost always a one-person dictatorship that is either extremely brutal or even less efficient than democracy, or both. Disastrous foreign policy is also common. Examples when authoritarian rule rebooted a system of governance in the right way exist, but they are extremely rare (perhaps Charles de Gaulle in France).

2025-06-08 08:52:59 UTC

Some readers asked me who the "technofascists" are…. Well, read something about Curtis Yarvin or Peter Thiel. Both with connections to the Trump administration. Summarized in short, these people lost trust in democracy, because it is inefficient and manipulated by elites they call “Catedral”. Their “solution”? Give all power to a CEO-like dictator, who will be accountable to some sort of board of stakeholders. Take power from the courts, decisions of Supreme Court will be advisory. The goal is efficient decision-making that increases the value of the state, somehow defined. They reject the idea of equality, a hierarchy is necessary, natural in their view. Thiel is a fan of techniques that prolong life, presumably of those higher in the hierarchy. In other words, classic fascist ideas packaged as something “modern” or “cool”.

Current tensions between Trump and Musk support my view that there are similarities, parallels between MAGA movement and the communist regime in Russia in its early stages. This sort of regimes are machines designed to crash the naïve and overly ambitious, maybe this is their deeper meaning.
There is also another possibility: Musk attacking Trump is a deliberate attempt by the billionaire fascists (or technofasists) behind MAGA movement to have Trump removed from power. This way, JD Vance would become President, starting the real, radical fascist phase of the regime. It is logical they do this well before the midterm election.
Maybe Trump proved to be a bit soft for them. Trump’s tariffs proved to be only negotiating tactics and not a very effective one. Maybe they view Trump as an elevator to power but not the real leader.
In any case it all resembles the conflicts in the early stages of Soviet regime, let’s say Trotsky trying to remove Stalin to start a World Worker’s revolution. If we could watch it from another planet it would be quite entertaining.

The idea that Putin's Russia is Christian and somehow friend of America is DISASTROUS delusion. Study the history of Russia, especially who was Ivan the Terrible and how he created Russia, who really was Catherine so called the Great and how she came to power, how Peter so called the Great did his reforms, what was the ideology of Alexander III, Stalin, Brezhnev. THE GREATNESS OF THE STATE, THE POWER OF THE RULER are the dark deities the Russians really worship and serve. Other ideologies/religions serve as legitimizing narratives. Marxism and scientific atheism worked at some point of time. When they failed, a version of Orthodox Christianity and a specific interpretation of history is used to fool naïve intelectuals around the world.

As far I understand, there are 3 basic classes or castes in the US: (A) the ultra rich, (B) those who have net worth - savings, investments in stock market, real estate, (C) the others. The MAGA movement is revolution of the (C) against the other two, with a part of (A) thinking they can get advantage or at least survive by supporting the revolution. There were such revolutions in France in the late 18th century, in Russia in 1917, in Eastern Europe after WW II etc. In this kind of revolutions there are always many victims and many, many supporters disappointed. Naive supporters with ambition are almost always disappointed, and often become victims. The revolution is eating its children, morons and apparatchiks rise to the top. It is quite amusing to watch the disappointment of Musk, Ackman and others. Maybe they could read who was Philip Egalité and how he ended.

2025-04-09 08:09:00 UTC

If you don't agree with my hypothesis that MAGA is essentially a class revolution of the proletariat with ultra-rich trying to manipulate and use it (see previous post) consider the following. Like in natural sciences, we should look if the hypothesis explains the facts. And in this light it makes perfect sense that (1) MAGA doesn't care for stock market (why should you care if you own no stocks or if to the contrary you own billions) - on X I see posts from MAGA supporters that nobody elected stock market etc., (2) MAGA doesn't care for bond market (bankruptcy is way of life), (3) MAGA doesn't care for falling dollar (if you don't spend vacations abroad why should you care). And if prices rise, well, tell them its because China is ripping us off and doesn't make a deal. External enemy is essential for this sort of regimes!

On X (Twitter) there are many reasonable, well meaning people who write the following (in various variations): Trump does not want the legacy of crashing markets and causing recession. Therefore, he will soon do something to save the day, you will see! What is disquieting is the influence of Bitcoin billionaires. What if they mean what they say and they want to make Bitcoin the reserve currency SOON? What if the plan is: (i) crash markets totally, (ii) Powel has to start MASSIVE QE, (iii) USD crashes totally, Bitcoin at 10 M USD, (iv) Bitcoin bilionaires become trillionaires, (iv) Trump declares himself Emperor of the United States, King of Kanada and Greenland, Protector of Mexico and Best Friend of Mr. Putin ever, (v) MAGA voters get the right to factory job paid by devalued dollars.........
