a Facebook marketplace would be really cool. With enough users in your local area there’s always the possibly of using hashtags to meet this goal such as my local area being Southampton I could use #southamptonmarketplace or something. But would be amazing to see an app especially one that connects to mastodon logins to allow you to find local marketplace stuff without having to use Facebook.
Quality of life things like marketplace would go a long way into getting people to at minimum try out the fediverse.

Just found the book on apple books and it's £34 what is kind of pricey. So probably not going to read that sadly.

Yeah like here on my Sharkey Instance we are open to people talking about things like that, we don't ban that sort of talk.
We can advise if things get to heated and maybe a mute if it becomes to much but we much prefer people to speak there mind.

Thanks, Yeah I knew about this system actually forgot you could just mention someone at the end instead of the start. Hopefully there will be better systems for this in the future as I love interacting with people on Lemmy as well as the look but I see no need for another account in my life just to post once in a while.

I've got a few options to go for after everything today;
1. Ignore everything and keep trying to do what I'm trying to do but probably will let everything eat me from the inside.
2. Take a break, see how I feel in a week or so time on the project.
3. Work on a new project to distract myself and maybe return to the other one at some point.
4. Push my NSFW stuff more on @npub1gh3…kuw2 and push myself into sex work life a good little bitch.

Worse bit was my whole system was manual, so it wasn't automated an had to reviewed.
I love this system but I think I'm going to have to start just focusing on instance stuff and block those assholes from my instance as it's just not worth it anymore. I love the Fediverse but it does test me some days.

I think it's because those people don't want the Fediverse to grow. In the end of the day all I was doing was putting out PUBLIC INSTANCES and PUBLIC PROFILES into an easy place for people to find. LIKE WTF, I could do the same by just following everyone. It just looked better on an actual website.
Maybe I just need to ditch the idea of creating something like that and just build my information center for the Fediverse Info like I was going to do as the next part of the site or just forget the whole idea. These people aren't worth creating a good place for.

Yeah, people hate what i'm trying to build with Fedicate, Just makes me want to leave everything. Like what's the point. Trying and do something positive, make it easier for people on the Fediverse to report super bad actors, but also make it easier for new people to the fediverse to find instances or information (what I was going to work on next) and people just hate you for it.
Like I just want to log out of everything including life at this point.

I've been hard at work making the users section look that little bit more pleasing for Fedicate.
I will be looking further into automating the process to update minor things such as profile pictures and other things on the database but for now the manual way is plenty fine.

Glad to say after 3 days of struggling I've been able to get up https://Fedicate.org my website for a fediverse database along with information that I will expand on over time.
Give me feedback as well as use the cyrptpad forms on the site to suggest new information including FediBlock reports to the site.

For anyone asking about why I use the Fediverse over Bluesky.
I use the Fediverse because of a few reasons;
1. The people and software are more customizable and can be self hosted.
2. Bluesky was originally the idea of making Twitter more decentralized but turned into it's own project after lots of money from big tech (and is still getting lots of money put into it)
3. AT Protocol vs ActivityPub Protocol. Personally I don't really care either way but when ActivityPub is built as a standard by the same organization for HTML & CSS then yeah ActivityPub it is.
4. The usernames, The usernames on Bluesky is cool till you think oh, I have a few people that I want using the same Instance / domain making you have to make new subdomains for the usernames, Just go with the email like layout Fedi software has, it's simple and it just like email.
5. Instances, The fediverse allows anyone to set up there own server with whatever Fediverse software and still connect with others. Bluesky is one software and most people are on one instance making it another centralized platform that just wants to look decentralized.
6. Ownership of followers, due to point number 5 if you get banned or want to move away from Bluesky you can't. With the Fediverse you own your following allowing you to move your followers to your own instance or just another one if you wanted a change.
Even with all of this I still cross-post my posts via @npub1pqr…2sck as it gives me no disadvantage.

With central social media falling, I see Reddit, Tumblr and other central socials falling alongside the others.
People should be saving themselves with the Fediverse but some just don't care / don't want to leave because they are comfy or there friends are on the platforms.
It sucks and I hope it gets better over time.

So I love using my Sharkey instance but the problem is there’s not many user friendly apps for us to use with it, I started learning react for my website a few months back but I don’t think it’s going to be enough for react native and learning how to connect to things via apis and stuff… it’s a stage I want to get to but who knows if I can learn that much…

Out now... for all those who want to use a Instagram converter to Fediverse stuff i've created https://insta.vex.blue just for that.
Just simply put in the Username of the posters account (Instagram Account Username).
Then put in the Instagram Post (Reels don't work) and click generate URL.

Would there ever be a way of putting the original link in a .markup system and it to "auto-convert" to the other url so you can paste it into your Instance?
This could be a really helpful thing to have for the Fediverse and could solve if people want to continue to see old posts or even to say something about a really old post no one on there instance viewed or followed at the time.

I can't 100% remember but it's got to be about or at least a month back, when it was mentioned that an email will be coming. I, as I think most people thought it would be the information about login in instead of a thank you. I understand @npub1xsv…q6he is doing his best but I wish to experience my disappointment in being told that we'd receive an email to login and then receiving a different email.

is the email only meant to be a 'welcome' one.... this is kind of not what I was expecting. Seems like on-boarding has been very much slow and broken.
I'm hoping the next email isn't far behind as waiting another day after the already delayed release and email has kind of gotten me annoyed about this whole thing and was really excited to see Loops in action but now it's coming up to 24hrs since I was expecting to be using Loops and now it could be even another day according to this email.
