@nprofile…l70y Talarico at least has spoken directly about the separation of church and state, and how Christian Nationalism threatens that, and recognizes that we live in a pluralistic society of different religions and pracitces. He sees that breaking down that wall is a threat to people like himself as much as anybody. Did this guy complain when GA sent a Black minister to the Senate?

@nprofile…tkx6 @nprofile…lj5l @nprofile…cutx It does, in a sense. What we supply to Amazon for distribution is a regular epub file. Amazon does some proprietary processing of the file before it delivers it to the customer. But the source file is the same file we send to everyone else.

Whether or not this is actually supported in the reader may vary. The Kindle, for instance, tends to lag behind.

@nprofile…l70y I think the MAGA cult is smaller than the polling would suggest. A giant asteroid could land in the middle of the continent and 20% of Americans would tell a pollster it was all good. And I don't think you need to change them all. If you drag ten or twenty percent of them back to reality, support for the program starts to get pretty thin. And often, the folks who will work hardest to destroy a cult are ex-cultists who realize they've been burned.

But you're not going to get that by, you know, just googling. It means doing real research--digging through archives, primary sources, etc. There will be endnotes.

And they'd probabl view that as a contract violation, since you need to pinky swear it's your own work. Amazon, on the other hand, does not care very much about that stuff. So you get what you pay for.

@npub1zyl…t54n given that they already had a problem with not-AI junk ebooks, and counterfeit physical books, and they weren’t doing much about that either, this is the logical next step. It is not surprising in the least. Fortunately it is still possible to avoid buying from Amazon.
