#WordWeavers 9/22 If you wrote a memoir on your writing journey so far, what would it be called?
"Where Were We, Again?"

2026-09-22 16:41:29 UTC

#WriteraCoffeeClub 9/22 What's the latest in the writing process you've found a mistake?
When I was proofreading the digital file for the book I was actively uploading for publication...
On the second site I uploaded it to 😓
Which means it had already been published in ebook and paperback on D2D WITH THAT TYPO.
Yeah, that was a bad moment for me. I chose to decide I didn't care and the typo remains.
I was able to justify it. I'm okay with that.
Really.
It doesn't haunt me at all.

#ScribesAndMakers 9/19 My mistake was...
Thinking I knew more than I did. They tried to tell me. They tried to warn me. But I wouldn't listen. I knew what I was doing, you see. I was prepared. I was ready.
I was wrong. And now I'm paying for my mistake.
Me, and everyone else.

#ScribesAndMakers 9/17 Link to or summarize yesterday's poll and reveal the answer.
https://mas.to/@amPennyfeather/117282927153513276
The majority of people were correct! As of now I have not featured a mirror in any of my writing.
A shoe: I'm currently drafting a Cinderella retelling, so there's a show involved lol
And a gem is kind of important in my Fires of Faldon duology. It's even on the cover!
The fact that anyone guessed gem probably means I haven't promoted those books enough 😅

#WordWeavers 9/17 By the end of your story, how many injuries has your MC had?
Maybe 6?
I'm currently working on my Cinderella retelling. It's definitely more on the cozy side than anything. So Elliot doesn't get a lot of injuries.
There is some danger toward the end, but even that is relatively minor as far as the physical harm my MC faces. Most of the injuries he gets are scrapes and bruises. Nothing major.

#ScribesAndMakers 9/16. Create a poll listing 2-3 objects that have featured in your work and one that hasn't.
Ask people to pick the one that hasn't.

#ScribesAndMakers 9/7. What 'character' (letter, number, symbol, punctuation, space) would make a great main character?
The Em Dash.
A hero, performing small but mighty acts of goodwill. Beloved by all who know them. Willing to change the world in their quiet way. They receive few accolades, but they are adored all the same.
Until, one day, a villain enters the scene. They wear the face of the Em Dash, but their actions are a poor copy, and they drag the good name of the Em Dash through the mud, causing their place in society to suffer.
Can the Em Dash reclaim their good name? More importantly, can they rely on their true friends - the few who still believe in their mission and will stick their necks out to reclaim the power stolen by the evil copycat?
Or will the Shadow Dash conquer and take their coveted place of power?
Only time will tell.

2026-09-05 15:01:48 UTC

#WordWeavers 9/5. If your antagonist could justify their actions in one sentence, what would they say?
I'm bouncing between a couple books right now, so I'm gonna answer for my Cinderella retelling.
"He's not qualified to be King."

2026-09-05 14:36:57 UTC

#ScribesAndMakers 9/5. From a purely aesthetic standpoint, what is your favorite color of ice cream?
Blue.
If you're asking about aesthetics, my answer is almost always blue.
Unfortunately, blue ice cream is usually either bubblegum (gross) or purely artificial coloring with some random flavor.
I do like blue raspberry and blueberry etc. though, so I will sometimes get those. You know, if I'm not wanting chocolate lol

#ScribesAndMakers 9/4 Reverse of last month's question: if e-books stopped being produced, how much would you miss them?
Quite a lot, actually.
I've come to rely on the existence of e-books. They make it possible for me to read in the times and places that actually work for my life - whether it's in bed while I'm trying not to wake my daughter beside me, in the break room at work during my 30-minute lunch break, or sitting at the table while I finish a meal and my daughter is playing.
And as an author, they're a necessity. I can't imagine self publishing would be nearly as attainable without ebooks.
They're just so accessible. And much easier to carry.
(no shade on physical books, though - they're the best)

2026-09-03 10:05:13 UTC

#ScribesAndMakers 9/3. Which ebook reader do you use?
I have a Kindle. It's not been touched in ages, but I do still have it.
Although, I mostly only use it to read through my own books as part of my editing process these days. I think it's been years since I read a book I didn't write on my actual Kindle.
Most recently when I read it's on my phone. Been doing a lot of Hoopla reading lately.

I published through D2D and used their free ISBNs.
Honestly, if I could have afforded it, I would have liked to buy my own, but I had no extra funds for doing so. I am extremely grateful that I was still able to publish when I did and do not begrudge D2D at all.
However - because I have a D2D ISBN, there are places I would have liked to have my books that I can't, because they don't have a partnership with D2D. If I had my own ISBN, I would have been able to publish wider than I do currently.
This is something I can and possibly will change in the future. But my book is offered by quite a few retailers, including library options. So if funds are an obstacle, a D2D ISBN is a good solution.
But if you have the funds and want no restrictions on where you can put your book, my advice is to buy your own.

I want to as well. I saw it so long ago, but it stuck in my mind.

2026-02-05 10:09:11 UTC

#WordWeavers 2/5. If you found out that someone had to live your MC's life (like in the "Stranger than Fiction" movie), would you change the story?
Oh man, nobody ever knows this movie. But it was so good! And as a writer, so gripping!
If you are one of those who doesn't know it, watch it! Seriously, so intriguing.
Anyway, to the actual question...No. Partially because I always give my MCs happy endings, anyway, so I wouldn't have to worry too much.
But also *spoilers for the movie ahead* :

2026-01-05 10:08:33 UTC

#WritersCoffeeClub 1/5 How do you choose the POV for a new story?
The story comes to me with this more or less decided.
I see everything through my character's eyes...although, even that's not quite right.
It's like the character is telling me their story. Sometimes a secondary character becomes more important that I originally realized and I have to adjust things, but still.
I just write down the story as my characters open up to me. Who and how they choose to tell it is up to them.

2025-12-15 10:13:37 UTC

#WordWeavers 12/15 How much profanity do you include in your stories, and why?
Earth profanity - none.
I do, however, enjoy making up curses that are connected to a world's lore for my characters to use. And they do use them to varying degrees based on the character (Winlow is a potty mouth lol)
Why? Mainly because I don't really curse. Occasionally one will slip out, but I work with kids. It's just easier to not have certain words in my vocabulary so I don't say them around a child.

#WritersCoffeeClub 6/11. Who sees your WIP before it's done?
My husband. He gets a finished first draft, but that's the earliest point I let any other eyes on the whole thing.
I might share a snippet here or there while drafting with one of my writing groups. But no more than a chapter if I'm having trouble and want their help with something.
But if you mean done-done, then my beta readers would count.

That's spectacular! Congratulations 🎉
I hope to one day be able to read your book. That review certainly makes me want to check it out 😘

#WritersCoffeeClub 11/24. What's the most challenging part of the writing process for you?
Probably world building.
My stories are intensely character driven, so they're my whole focus the first couple drafts, and I build their story without much concern for the setting of their story. So they usually end up in a very flat world. I have to put a lot of effort into making the setting for my story feel real, interesting and diverse.
I think I do a good job once I put in the effort, though.

#WordWeavers 11/10. If your MC were an animal, which one?
Beckett would be a dog. But very specifically one like my dog.
Friendly, fun, smart, loyal.
But with trauma from his past that comes out at unexpected times, causing him to react with fear at things that may make people think he's a coward or broken.
But with love and compassion, he can learn that those things that once hurt him can be safe. He just needs to trust the hand that wields the stick.
(picture, because my dog's cute lol)

Ugh. The server I was on went down without warning. I'm back!
But I lost all my follows 😭
I need to build it back up, starting with my #WritersCoffeeClub and #WordWeavers peeps.
Hopefully no one will think I'm suspicious for following a bunch of people all at once. I promise I'm not a spam bot or something...I just want my feed back 🥺
