Yes, I have. The merchant was a brewery. They fumbled a bit trying to figure out how to procure a QR lightening invoice. It was a great learning experience for them. Stoked to be able to support and share some sats - however, they are still very uneducated as they began talking about if the terminal would accept xrp 🙄. NGMI lol. Who knows if they even kept the sats, or converted to fiat. At the end of the day, I do appreciate the optionality on both ends of the transaction. But it’s slightly discouraging to send sats to people who DGAF. Nonetheless an interesting experiment. Sent the sats with my primal wallet.

Did some advanced vinyasa yoga tonight with my 5 year old son. Well, actually - I do it, he climbs on my back, or finds a way to position himself on me. Lots of upper body, abs. He’s nearly 40 lbs. It was insanely challenging for me but pushed through. Not just the added weight, but balance and composure is tricky. Solid workout and flow.
It’s a great bonding experience and he knows he’s pushing me to physical/mental limits and sees me pull through. I’m not a perfect dad but trying to show him the way. Maybe he’ll appreciate it someday, and carry these moments forward. #yoga

An interesting jiu jitsu observation: the ego is in a constant cycle - deflating, inflating, then deflating again. It never ends. I enjoy that dichotomy.
Some people can’t handle the deflation part. They struggle with the mental bruising that comes from getting tapped repeatedly along the journey. I welcome it. Training either shows progression or exposes holes. There’s no bullshitting. You get real-time feedback.
I got tapped 5 times in a single 5min roll this past week. The guy was technical and skilled. Respect is due when it’s not just deserved, but earned. Earned through perseverance and grit.

Cash app has this bitcoin map feature - found a brewery near me that accepts BTC over the lightening network. Took my wife and kids there for a couple beers and a snack, paid with bitcoin. I was their first customer that used BTC as payment. The owners were amazed at the simplicity and speed of the transaction and how seamless the Square experience is. I was just on a walk around the neighborhood with my two kids and dog. My son a scooter and myself pushing my daughter in a stroller crossing a 4 way. I arrived ahead of the two oncoming cars. Picked my daughter up from preschool yesterday. The joy and innocence on her face. Her favorite song right now is Semi Charmed Life (she calls it Doo-Doo-Doo). I have a meyer lemon tree and an orange tree which existed when we moved in. So nice to have an endless amount of fruit on deck. Started an avocado tree from a pit a few years ago…just last week I grafted it with a branch from a producing plant. Hoping to have some avos in maybe 5 years haha. Cashless restaurants and bars are peak fiat authoritarianism. Over the weekend, a bartender hesitated to take cash for a beer, saying the place “mostly” operates on cards. They still accept cash but prefer plastic, and apparently struggle to make change.
Government-issued cuckbucks are still legal tender even if they are trash. I should be able to swap a few pieces of paper for a cold pint. The forced cashless approach isn’t convenience. It’s coercion. Freedom means being able to choose how we transact. When the only way to pay is through permissioned rails, you don’t own your money…you are just renting access.
I love how Bitcoin is the big middle finger to all of it. Cash, Cards, etc. Unstoppable,
unconfiscatable, boarderless, permissionless and no gatekeepers. It doesn’t ask permission. It honors the ability to save, spend and transact on your terms. Would I exchange sats for a pint? Yeah, maybe. Maybe not. Maybe GFY.
In a world of plastic obedience and paper IOUs, optionality reins. Fiat or otherwise. Bitcoin doesn’t demand to be used, it’s just waiting for everything else to fail, and for the world to wake up to a better money.
