what amazes me is how easy it is to manipulate the markets. He only has to say some random garbled nonsense about peace talks and the price of oil goes down.
Nobody waits for proof or validation.
I thought markets were supposed to be rational?

not in my line of work, no, that would be cheap. But I presume museums, arts, public bodies etc would be more price sensitive

It's funny, I grew up in a fishing community and the church was very sea god focussed. We had 'blessing of the fisheries' and incense waving over the dock. So maybe a bit of Poseidon / Neptune / Yam / Aruna / Dylan ail Don lived on....

Reform will likely pick up a lot of the disillusioned votes - the (captive) media portrays them as antiestablishment (which they are not) and downplays their racism (which is systemic). It's very depressing because Starmer is playing right into their hands

I don't know how dodgy it is in terms of "the rules" (as opposed to just morally dodgy) but they have picked up a lot of corporate sponsors.
Wes Streeting (Health Secretary) enjoys a lot of financing from US based private health care companies. As do a lot of the cabinet. Shady af.

Labour have enough seats to push through whatever agenda they choose but Starmer (#cardboarddboy) does not have the political will. Difficult to know what he believes in beyond, presumably, what his paymasters tell him. The government has been a huge disappointment, for those desperate for change, and is playing directly into the hands of Reform who are dragging the main political parties to the right
