As an American, I absolutely believe this. China has invested so much more in real industry, energy build out, etc. and they took their medicine with the housing market. They have exponentially more engineers and it's much more of a true meritocracy. In the US we've papered over all of our problems so that the elite can continue to extract more and more from the common man. We don't have "free market capitalism" we have fiat corporatism.

It’s truly an insane time we’re living in. For almost a decade I didn’t vote (and still think voting is minimally impactful) and had almost no role as a citizen because I was so disgusted with it.
Having kids and becoming a Bitcoiner made me a lot more serious and creative about being the best citizen I can be to at least try to create a better world.
Part of being a good citizen is not being passive while we have pedophiles and treasonous plunders robbing up blind for a genocidal ethnostate. Always appreciate your perspective.

I never recommend books before I finish reading them, but I have to make an exception for @nprofile…0w9j and his book Modern Chains. Only through the introduction (!!) and outside the Bible I think will be the most important book I’ve ever read to date. “Number go up” bitcoiners won’t be interested because they overlook the much more important moral and ethical foundations. However, the real ones will be thoroughly enriched through this book.
I’ve never heard anyone make the moral and ethical case against our monetary system in clearer words that resonated in my bones. Couple short excerpts below from just the first 10 pages:
“A person recognizes moral truth long before the mind untangles technical nuance” (!!)
“Calling our system ‘broken’ surrenders moral clarity and obscures the deeper reality: the system functions precisely as designed, to dominate and extract human effort. The only things genuinely broken are the people it consumes and discards”
“The ethics of money is not secondary: it takes precedence. Economics explains the ‘what,’ while morality defines the ‘why.’ Morality is primary: it takes precedence, comes first. Morality is the soil in which economic seeds are planted, and the quality of that soil determines the quality of the fruit”
“We will avoid dense data sets and intricate financial models; instead, we will pull back the curtain on a fundamental issue; if a system forcibly extracts our productivity, then no amount of economic theory can redeem it”
“Superficial analysis of economics alone cannot excavate the deeper moral foundation; for that we need a philosophical shovel”

One of the many signs that western culture is broken is that people equate owning animals with raising children. Dog “moms” and cat “dads” gotta be one of the most backwards things I’ve ever seen.

NOSTR CIRCULAR ECONOMY EXAMPLE #7692: My wife and I recently sold our house to cash out because of concerns about the housing market in the near-term (before they run the printers and inflate everything away again in the medium-term after the dip). We're renting for the next year and working with @nprofile…mmzl and his team at HODL House (www.hodl-house.com) on the most personalized, low time preference home design process imaginable.
These guys are phenomenal architects in their own right but because they are Bitcoiners they also don't think like fiat-shaped model home builders who are throwing up thick cardboard walls from 1 of 6 soulless model home options that they selected from. Just go to their site and look at his essays on his architecture and Bitcoin journey and tell me that you can find an architect that is more passionate about their work!! Their deliverables are beautiful and their process is so unique and human-focused.
But more than highlighting the great work of HODL House, this is an example of the power of nostr in building free, circular economies. Let me walk you through what I mean. I found these guys once I got on nostr and was listening to an interview on the Bitcoin Business podcast with the guys @nprofile…4wzq, while getting paid by @nprofile…cgkr 1 sat for every 10 mins of listening. Bryan and I both happened to live in ATL so I found him on @nprofile…nzvk and we connected from there with him and his team. When it was time to pay the invoice I of course paid him directly in Bitcoin from my phone as I was cooling down after a run. Could not have been easier. No credit card fees, no inputting bank information or having to ask him the last four digits of his phone number so that I could send him a payment over Venmo (so invasive and retarded lol). No reporting anything to my bank. Just direct peer to peer exchange of value.
These are the EXACT TYPE OF USE CASES WE NEED TO TELL PEOPLE ABOUT. I've tried, with much less success than I expected, to sell people on Bitcoin over the years. This is probably a combination of me being way too overwhlemingly passionate about it and just poorly explaining what are some very hard concepts to grasp especially for technically low IQ people like myself. BUT PEOPLE DO NOT NEED TO UNDERSTAND BITCOIN TO SEE IT'S POWER. And there has never been a better place to demonstrate the power of Bitcoin than on nostr. For a majority of people, we need to shift so much more of our attention to nostr adoption and retention than we do on Bitcoin philosophy, at least as a starting point.
Similar to @nprofile…uh5m I came to Bitcoin from a purely theological and philosophical perspective and it is the much better foundation to become a Bitcoin maxi (not interested in retarded debates about how we define that). But most people aren't interested in that. But now BECAUSE OF NOSTR we don't need to choose between either appealing to NGU or appealing to the ethical / philosophical side. We can instead just provide INSANELY powerful use cases for Bitcoin adoption as a medium of exchange. And once you do that, it's game over.
Really thankful to @nprofile…zx3h @nprofile…l2yj @nprofile…8m4j @nprofile…hs8c @nprofile…zj6n @nprofile…6dtc @nprofile…yza6 @nprofile…x8mg @nprofile…dzev @nprofile…uzxr and so many others that reinforced this into my brain over and over on podcasts. The first time I came to nostr I flamed out in about two days. It was only because you guys relentlessly pushed nostr on Bitcoin podcasts that I was already listening to that I came back with a totally different understanding. With that understanding I was able to put in enough effort to persevere through some of the difficulties to get to a place where I could see the power. Now, because I definitely can't contribute as a developer, I want to contribute to nostr adoption and retention in any way I can. To somehow channel the lessons learned to get plebs foot in the door here.
Even in the last month I've seen more traction with family and friends on nostr as I've clumsily fumbled through explaining it, than I saw in the last three years of excellent, reasonable arguments about Bitcoin lol. So please feel free to add any ideas for how best to do that in the comments. A substack or something? I don't know. Trying to crowdsource for the nostr revolution tho so please help out with any ideas that might spark something for me!
SIDENOTE: So tired of how much I see petty spats between gold bugs / NGU Bitcoin maxis when we really need to focus way more on broadening the SOUND MONEY umbrella. I got into Bitcoin primarily because I hate the government and the fiat system that supports it. I hate the wars and I hate the overwhelming brokenness that we're inheriting that has caused so many of my friends to kill themselves or overdose.
I care WAY MORE about destroying fiat than I do about whatever dollar value is tied to BTC or about some philosophical allegiance I'm supposed to have about what percentage of Bitcoin I need to hold to be considered a maxi. I love Bitcoin. I believe BTC will become the largest asset in the world by a long shot, long-term. It has properties that gold cannot match. But that doesn't mean that there is no place for precious metals or that precious metals and especially precious metals derivatives won't outperform in the short run. It also doesn't mean that there aren't productive businesses in which we part with our Bitcoin as an investment in that business (should go without saying).
That said, I think the best businesses to invest in the next couple years will be gold and silver miners. Nothing to sell and I don't gain anything by anyone investing in these companies as I'm just a normal shareholder. But I WANT ALL THE HOMIES TO GET RICH. And I especially want people who love freedom to take advantage of asymmetric opportunities so that we can then take those returns and funnel them back into Bitcoin and the nostr ecosystem. Same with all my fam. I literally bought some of my extended family members shares in these companies, told them about it and said I'm not giving this to you for 18 months, but watch what this does in the meantime.
I'm investing a majority of the excess cash from the sale of our home for the next year in companies like Americas Gold & Silver ($USAS), Santacruz Silver Mining ($SCZMF) and 1911 Gold ($AUMBF). Do your own research and do your own math. I'm a business owner, so I watch margins closely. Watch these Q3 earnings and look at the macro picture of where gold and silver are going and use common sense on what that means for these mining stocks that are being valued as if gold is going to collapse back to $2000 and silver to $25.
To anyone who understands elementary school level business basics - think about a company like Americas Gold and Silver. Their market cap is $1.2B but they are a currently operating mines in Idaho and Mexico with great existing infrastructure sitting on 226 MILLION OUNCES OF SILVER. They announced this week that as a zero-cost by product of their mining operations they are the ONLY ANTIMONY (ESSENTIAL CRITICAL MINERAL) PRODUCER IN THE US. They also produce copper as a byproduct and other very valuable metals. Long story, but had the most amazing conversation with a boomer last night. He’s a conservationist (in the healthy sense, not a purple haired environmentalist) who is helping to bring back mining to a beat up former logging and mining town called Libby, MT where I’ve got some family.
For over an hour he talked about how much his generation had destroyed this country and how he wanted to make things right for his grandkids. He was the most alpha, masculine man, yet was almost in tears talking about how much hope he sees in young people who aren’t willing to repeat all these same mistakes that his generation made.
I slam American boomers a lot because they have to be one of the most selfish, propagandized generations in the history of the world. Yet, it should go without saying that doesn’t mean every single one of them. I want to do a better job highlighting these exceptions because the connection we made was so energizing and filled me with so much hope.
One general takeaway is that I love people who aren’t afraid to criticize their own tribe (and themselves). When I meet a boomer who can’t stand what boomers have done, or a Jew who hates Zionism, etc. those are people who I have THE MOST respect for.
Life is so beautiful but I know Satan wants me to constantly focus on exclusively criticizing, tearing down, etc. There is a need for that when it comes to fighting the powers and authorities and not being indifferent to evil. However, there is even more of a need for that sharp resistance to be supported at a foundational level by a relentless and faithful hope for the future.

Grew up completely non-religious in Seattle like everyone around me. Getting baptized into Christ and trying to faithfully walk with him was by far the most radical and rebellious thing I’ve ever done.
So many friends walked away, but also quickly found out who the real ones were. No way I would’ve become a Bitcoiner if I wasn’t a Christian first. Learned to think for myself and seek truth regardless of what was happening around me.

100%. The best thing for the average American (not the elites), is a more multipolar world. Our government and its leaders have grown way too strong and they clearly believe that we serve them, not the other way around.
I realize this comes with a lot of short-term pain, but pushing it off and letting US hegemony march on will only make the price we pay that much heavier down the road.

Yeah I’ve tried so unsuccessfully to orange pill people on bitcoin (had a couple family / friends I’ve won over). But realized that a lot of people are just not that interested in the philosophical stuff, they need just simple use cases to get their foot in the door. Once they experience a couple powerful uses cases then they really are open to exploring more of the foundational concepts.
This is probably a testament to the fact that I’m low IQ and so are many of my family and friends 😂😂. But wanna do whatever I can to help those I love get free. Have won more people over to Bitcoin through nostr in two months, then I did in 3+ years of trying to talk to people directly about bitcoin.

Couldn’t agree more. NGU honestly piss me off and hurt long-term adoption. Nostr is so key to allowing people to see what something closer to a Bitcoin standard looks like. I made a handful of Lightning transactions before I came on here, but now I’m making hundreds of transactions a week. Mostly zaps, but I also pay for multiple monthly expenses (like VPN service) and have made a bunch of one off purchases.
Makes me feel so confident in long-term future of Bitcoin seeing the circular economies start to form. Care less and less about the current price with each day that passes. Whatever focus I did have on NGU has completely shifted to Nostr evangelism and trying to get the whole squad on here.

Another big blow to USD reserve status and the power to manipulate that comes with it. Also always good to see banks getting crushed. Moving toward a more multipolar world where hard assets matter and currencies will be at least loosely backed by something.
Any world where we move more towards sound money, more towards actual free markets, etc. is a much better world. It’s not the ideal Bitcoin standard, but it moves in that direction.

All Bitcoiners should be paying attention to what is happening in the silver market right now. It is literally history in the making.
For decades banks have manipulated the silver market and they are on their very last leg throwing absolutely everything they can to keep the price down. Silver will break out and crush these manipulators and that is a massive victory for reality and a major L for the banks.

Great post. Theology and philosophy were considered the king and queen of learning and building a solid foundation for a good life for thousands of years.
How far we have fallen in our modern world. Thankfully, there is an amazing resurgence happening that is only beginning. Neglect of both of these subjects is highly tied to being shaped by fiat. With the slow death of the current rendition of fiat upon us, we will get back to the real.

Totally agree. First month or so I would get discouraged, but I actually love the quietness on Nostr at times. Think people on here disproportionately have meaningful lives outside the internet, which is also a great sign.
Some of my favorite follows go a week between posting. Also not having bots blow up all the comments is such a blessing, for now at least.

Beautiful conversation @npub1dtg…up6m and @npub1cj8…rz4u Everything about this conversation resonated. Especially loved that idea of the SOVEREIGN COLLECTIVE. Never heard this term but man did it hit.
Realized as I listened that having kids AND becoming a Bitcoiner at the same time really shifted my perspective in profound ways. I went from largely wanting to help individuals in my circle flourish (still true) to truly wanting the entire world to flourish. I also had a lot of shifts to a more holistic eschatology at the same time, which was a major contributor as well.
Sometimes a new term or concept can make feelings that are deeply held, but hard to articulate a lot more concise and concrete. That’s exactly what the term sovereign collective did for me.
Love that this pod is hilarious and yet still able to dive into some of the deepest, most important topics in generative ways. That’s a great combination to set you up for living life the fullest.
