Sadly it is generally so for a lot more in medicine and medical care, where the balance is way to tilted to mens problems in regards to both research and development of treatments.
For bionic limbs specifically, a reason - but not an excuse - is probably war and crime though. Where for both men are over represented both as cause and consequence.

I started the hard way too, trying to config my own. But when I stumbled on LazyVim I stopped, quickly realizing it is the GOAT.

My work is full of those, not just for AI.
Been thinking a lot about that, since way before the AI craze, and the trait most of them are severely missing is empathy. And it hits double:
1 - They are unable to understand from the perspective of others.
2 - From 1 they are unable to understand how things they are responsible for affect others.
This is a since long growing trend in organization culture, pretty much everywhere.

I don't trust anything that #OpenAI say or promise. Now they're buying #Astral https://openai.com/index/openai-to-acquire-astral/ - and gains control over #Ruff, #uv and #ty.
That the "Astral team will join the Codex team at OpenAI and over time, we’ll explore deeper integrations" - makes me wonder how well these really great tools will keep functioning stand alone in the future.
Can I keep being depended on them for managing my :python: projects?

In Sweden we call it "signalpolitik" - "Signal politics'" in English.
Basically it means:
"Policies aimed at influencing and consolidating a certain position or giving the impression of determination instead of solving a particular political problem."
Pretty much always it is a tell about how little they actually know/understand the problem. Such as this one, clearly not knowing what an OS is, how they work and how one get one - except it came with their own devices.

Vertical tabs, pinned and tabgroups have revolutionised my workflow in Firefox.

I see a quite similar challenge to understand the differences as it is for UI vs UX, as well as de difference between sympathy and empathy.
One important aspect that privacy, UX and empathy shares - is they are highly invisible. As in you have to understand and visualize cause and effect mentally how it is for both oneself and others.
And in an all-the-more complex web of pieces that affect each other more or less, and in combinations. That is hard!

Among the most important things to understand, is that most of those are just wanting a computer that does what they need, or must do, in everyday life.

If you do a poll to the exact same users who answered that on would be asked about their relation to #OpenSource, you would likely get a similar high result as #Linux got.
Everybody knows about Windows and Apple. Many have probably heard about Linux, but for very different things and not got a mainstream feeling for it. Thus, giving a feeling mora that "you're on your own if you want to try Linux."
It is that "on your own" framing I am trying to find solutions for!

If Split View UX-improves like Tab Groups did, from when I about:config turned them on, then I'm not worried at all.
Only thing I really miss in Tab Groups is the ability to copy and paste, and it then also be possible to do to/from other browsers like LibreWolf.

Played a bit with it, and it is almost usable. If the tab I right-klick and do "Add Split View" would open in the split, it would be useful already.
It don't, it just creates a new tab.
Now I dream of it ready and with a shortcut open https://fosstodon.org/publish in a 1/3 split on the right. Or other common web apps to make notes or other relevant stuff from the page I'm on.
That would make a sweet UX in my book.

The other thing I will do it to use both #Vim and #Neovim.
:vim: for local system admin
:neovim: with #LazyVim for dev and other use
The idea here is to create my own custom .vimrc tuned for local system admin stuff, that can me reused everywhere so it is the same on all machines. Including when I log in remote.

21 episodes in, I am gloriously overwhelmed about everything Marco in them shown :vim: gives me to learn using.
While I can easily see how incredible powerful and efficient it definitely can be - The hard part will be to learn good enough to not have to break focus on what I want to use it for. Having to constantly look at cheat-sheets or :h pages.
I think a strategy that allows me to create efficient task workflows, identifying sequences of #VimMotion that I commonly will use.

Trying :GrapheneOS: was the main reason I gave myself for getting the Pixel 9a, and that on BF it was on sale for <$400.
But first I use it with default :android: to check out the Google spin of Android 16 before nuking.
My daily driver with the the Fairphone 6, while the 4 will be repurposed to how alternative OS too.
It will be interesting to experience how good options are for escaping the all-the-more intrusive surveillance economy.

:zorin: installed on #mindy and thus far I am very pleased with both look and feel on this #AcerSwift3 with #Ryzen4700u laptop.
Only thing I couldn't quickly sort out is the Fingerprint Password Settings app in the #zorinOS repo.
Other than that I have no problem seeing why it has become a popular choice for those with #Win10 that Microsoft gave a 🖕 to about upgrading to #Win11.

So I now have a spare laptop with Ryzen 5700u 16Gb RAM 1TB m.2 to install a using focus :linux: distros on.
I have :arch: on my other laptop and workstation for tinkering and dev.
For this one the idea is to try out #Linux distros for beginners, such as coming from Win10, that just want to use for everyday tasks in life, school and so on.
I have noted :zorin: #zorinOS gain popularity recently.
Which else can be interesting to try out?

The Amiga will probably forever be the best computer I've hade the pleasure of using. When factoring in what it could do 30+ years ago, with the tech available then, nothing comes even close to it.
