I didn't realize how bad the FOSS funding situation was.
Both the Apache and Python software foundations have standard tiers that top out at 100~150k, which is _maybe_ half the cost of a full time developer (including benefits).
The PSF lists 45 sponsors and 12 staff members.
The ASF lists 39 sponsors and 295 projects.
That's not a lot of money spread realllll thin.
