Wonder if that's also partly (or majorly) because the 'playing games mentality' has changed? Back then it was just fiendishly difficult platformers, to repeat over and over again to 'git gud'. Nowadays we have some different ideas of what consists of 'fun gameplay', so games made today, even if it's for older platforms, would fit our current mentality better?

That's what I wanted to ask about. 😂
Maybe some extra clarifying text (I'd find that annoying), or maybe it's just DHOH-extra sound cues or names in front. Or maybe they've found an arcane way of increasing text during dialogues and rest smaller. But that'd be weird for a big corp app. Or maybe, for the hearies, subtitles automatically pop up during dialogue, and then disappears elsewhere.

Omg, it got Donkey Kong II as well! I've still got that thing but lost the battery lid so cannot play it unless I rig up something.
So I played this online version and freed Donkey Kong twice! Just to make sure I still knew how to play it. I guess I do!
Still missing that frog hopping over lilypads in the list though!

How do you decide what game next to play? I have over 4k games and often face choice paralysis. Usually I play my old games that I've played before and are replayable (like deckbuilding games and such).
I know for sure, more than 1000 of those games I will never play. They were bundle trash.

Now I'm imagining some sort of lemmy/piefed platform, except instead of communities that look like users from microblogging platforms, they actually have hashtag groups that you'd use like communities on there now... I'm just randomly brainfarting here. That'd make hashtags more useful if there's a platform which can actually use them like communities.

Totally agree. When I was still on Mastodon, I saw all the useful features getting taken away one by one, until Mastodon wasn't as useful anymore as in the beginning. I am annoyed at them. That was one of the big motivations for me to search for some other platform to have fun with. It went Firefish (Thanks, but also lemme punch you for a bit lol) and then Sharkey. I still like Misskey-based forks more even if Mastodon has a few QoL features I miss a little.

Oh yeah, if you had registered for $12, you could play against a human opponent. Never was worth it for me though, especially as that'd have been an international payment and that was difficult for a kid in the 90's. I was just glad that the shareware versions were already pretty dang good.
I'm now just half wondering why they didn't release the full versions of their games for free a few years ago, when they suddenly stopped selling their games. Though apparently one can find unlock codes somewhere online to register those shareware games. I've not bothered with it so far but there was a whole Reddit thread about it.
Soleau really should refine those games for modern machines and release on Steam. ;)

Oh gods, yeah, I loved Soleau Software. Not just Mice Men, but also Bolo Ball. I wish for remakes of those kind of games, they were fairly simple to play and hard to master! Just very nice for a quicky. Well, relatively a quicky, since the animations were still a bit on the slow side.

Okay, my boss didn't get informed by the Signal app on his iPhone that I've sent a message. Only after he opened the app he got a notification, which is kinda defeating the point as he didn't know he had a message on Signal to begin with and he doesn't use Signal that often.
That seems to be the default behavior of Signal on all iPhones from what I've observed so far. What's going on and what setting needs to be adjusted for Signal to send notifications from the start? Because it's apparently not that intuitive at all.
I don't have an iPhone so I wouldn't know where to look. And apparently all the iPhone-users I know here in my area aren't that familiar with iPhones either. :P

He might have accelerated dementia now, it can come on rather fast. It sucks. People get stubborn and self-defensive when they feel they get attacked due to forgetfulness, it's part of that disease. It's only going to get worse, I feel for his family.
Now look at Trump, he's clearly showing signs of dementia for a long while now and people still worship him. :P
