I can’t sleep because I’m still overcome with anger, mostly at myseld, because I KNEW BETTER, and I allowed guilt and sentimentality get the better of me… and then I was just proves right, over and over again.
I was stupid to comply, I was stupid to let my guard down, I hate myself for being so stupid, and I will be paying the price tomorrow. Lack of sleep and stress are rhe biggest triggers of seizures, and I am ripe for one now, with all this anger, frustration, sadness and self-loathing swirling around.
“… and that’s what Christmas means to me!”

Let's be honest; the past 20 years have been hard. But it amped up to 11 these past few months!
But all I care about is being creative, curious, communicating and making as much art as I can, while I can!

That’s another aspect of it all: they’re so casual about it, it makes me think, “Am I faking? Am I overreacting?”
And then the drs and therapists tell me I’m not taking it seriously *enough*…
Oh that is another thing I think I forgot to tell you: Occupational Therapist brought me a walker and told me I need to practice; I start physical and cognitive therapy in January. She said I may not need the walker now, but I will soon.
I will have to part ways with my Speech and Occupational therapists, and I will be lost without them! They and Josie are the only ones looking out for me on a day-to-day basis! They have gone above and beyond!

I’m so gratified that the therapists reported it to the drs on their own, without me saying anything, because the whole situation makes me feel crazy.
Or even crazier.
I just thought, “Oh, this is her main character syndrome” and I don’t think it’s malicious, but it IS controlling. And I can see how she BELIEVES by ruling with an iron fist, she’s keeping me safe, but maybe that’s me making excuses, and anyway, even if she really does think she’s doing a good job, they say she isn’t.

I texted my Occupational Therapist everything that happened today. She is going to look into a home health aide to take me to the store and stay with me while I shop, so I won’t have to be so dependent on my sister.
Which reminds me: My primary told me yesterday that she is changing all my prescriptions to mail order, because the therapists have reported to her that my sister has been withholding medications from me. I hadn’t thought of it in those terms.. i just thought of it as her “being mean”. She doesn’t, like, hide my medicine or anything like that. But she *does* use whether or not she’ll pick up my prescriptions as a punishment/reward thing: “Maybe I will, maybe I won’t, OH I’m too tired…”
They don’t even know that she does that with groceries as well!
But the dr knew all about it, and I hadn’t even told her.
So that is one - and maybe two - less things that I have to depnd on my sister for and that she can control me with.
I feel better about that.

My heart and breathing are still going a mile-a-minute.
If I’d lost the use of my legs, would they be saying I just need to get up and walk?
And if I didn’t, too bad, I’ll be left behind?
Sadly, I think the answer is yes!
I think they would have *more patience* with a visible disability, but they’d be looking for a way to wash their hands of me sooner or later.
They resent the inconvenience.
And maybe that’s fair, with American healthcare!
But please don’t take out your anger and frustrations on ME!

My sister sent me into the grocery store by myself. Keep in mind, I am not supposed to be left alone at any time, even at home.
I navigated the store (I have the layout memorized), got my stuff, did self check-out… and then forgot where I was, what I was doing… people were looking at me funny, so I must have been doing something or making some noise… i grabbed my groceries and walked out as quickly as I could (I’d already paid before this episode) and I was in such a panic, I left a whole bag of groceries there. I am beating myself up about it now, especially because that bag had my Sleeptime Extra tea and I really need it right now!!!
When I got out to rhe car, i told my sister that I can’t do that anymore, that SHE can’t do that anymore, I am in cognitive decline and it’s expected to get worse, I can’t be sent out in public alone anymore, and she was just like, “You’ve got to believe in yourself!”

I am watching the #Moominvalley series from 2019 and it’s SOOO WONDERFUL!!
I will have more to say when I finish the first season, but I had to pause after S1 Ep12 THE INVISIBLE CHILD because it is High Art, so deeply meaningful, and the way it’s expressed…
I am a little surprised that people who aren’t already #Moomin fans haven’t discovered them through this show. I can’t wait to talk about it!

I've brought my pencil sketch into Illustrator. It's on it's own locked-down layer, while I am building my lines and shapes on their own separate layer.

I haven’t laughed out loud in a movie in years!
Some of the “comedic” set pieces are a drag (too many food fights) but the cultural satire is *STILL* up-to-the-minute and relevant!
It’s a silly movie; what makes it stand out is:
• #RitaTushingham & #LynnRedgrave , in the midst of all this silliness, really invest in Brenda & Yvonne’s friendship. As a viewer, you really believe that Brenda would go to these ridiculous lengths for her friend!
They couldn’t sell that ending if we didn’t really believe in their friendship, and it’s their dramatic backgrounds that grounds it.
• The cultural satire: music industry, art world, media, even reality tv gets a poke!
Plus other references that went over my head!
• A time capsule of 60s London, including incredible over-the-top fashions!

I just tried to walk the dogs up the mountain to my house, so I could begin the digital part of this process, but it was so cold and damp, it seemed more responsible to turn around and come back home. At first, I was determined to do it, to prove I could do it, but when I got about a 1/3 of the way, I realized that EVEN IF I *COULD* DO IT (which I couldn’t), I most *certainly* wouldn’t be able to get us back *down* the mountain!
This is why I need a laptop or ipad; even if I did get back up to my desktop, I would be so exhausted that I wouldn’t be able to get things done.
I need to figure out a way to have a computer handy so that I can make the most of my time.

I’m figuring out what I like so much about his face and how to communicate it.
Also I just realized how this is such an example of my #ActuallyAutistic traits…
Neurotypical people don’t think about things this much (unless they are making money from it) and *certainly* not enough to do something creative with those thoughts…
And if they did, would it feel physically painful for them not to ACT upon that creative thoughts?
Some people might call it “inspiration”.

At the beginning of the movie, Reggie comes across as a joke, a cartoon - his hair is a character unto itself! - but as his character gains gravity, he becomes more handsome and dashing.
I noticed right away, without knowing where the film was going, that he was filmed in the sexualized way that women are traditionally shot: his pants are waAaayyyy too tight, and he’s constantly bending over, displaying his butt for the camera.
His pivotal moment is when he stands up for his Grandmother… and he’s the only person in his family to do so.
This is when we see that he is a quality person, and that differentiates him from Dot, who is bound to repeat the same destructive patterns of her mother.

Everyone involved with this film is firing on all cylinders: the direction, the cinematography, writing, cast, all perfection.
#RitaTushingham is so fun to watch; she is ALL OVER the frame, back and forth in the foreground and background; she makes you feel you’re in a cage with her. She’s constantly mugging into the camera in a way that makes it seem like she’s going to become a full-on comic character at any moment, but Tush doesn’t go there. Dot is ridiculous, but she’s never a joke.
… or if she is, she’s a sad one.

I was thinking about this movie all night.
I feel differently about the characters now than when I went to sleep. I have all kinds of thoughts about this movie. I learned so much about psychology and the human condition from #TheLeatherBoys … and it didn’t cost 1.6 million dollars!!!!

I envy these characters, how they have no care for tomorrow or consequences; everything is in the moment and reactionary.

I had the appointment with my neurologist today. I didn’t like it.
I’ve been taking notes on the issues I’ve noticed, and I compiled them into a tidy list, thinking that I was PARTICIPATING in my recovery.
I started reading from the list, she stopped me at #4, dismissed my concerns, wouldn’t let me finish the list, wouldn’t look at the list herself… It really made me feel crummy. And I liked and trusted her. Now I feel like, “Don’t look to her for answers.”
She asked, “Why are you so stressed? Why do you have so much stress? You shouldn’t be so stressed!”
OMG have you seen reality?!?!
Have you seen MY reality?!?!?
And this is even worse: When I tried to talk about Helene, and how my recovery, rehabilitation and benefits have been delayed due to Helene, she started going on about how OTHER of her patients DIED, and I should feel LUCKY that I am alive.
That just doesn’t seem… healing? Nurturing? Am I supposed to feel ashamed?
She also told me I was “thinking about #epilepsy too much”!?!?!
I pushed back on that! “I was just diagnosed in September! Shouldn’t I be learning as much as I can about epilepsy?!?!?”
I don’t remember her response.
She did prescribe some new anxiety medication. She wants me tested for ADHD in the new year, and start cognitive & vestibular (?) therapy
I guess I feel so dumb because I’ve been telling everyone how great she is, how I trust her so much…. and now, I just feel sad and gross. I thought I was gonna be walking out of there with some real concrete answers.

Are there any communities for #Epilepsy like #ActuallyAutistic ?
I’m not looking for facts or statistics (yet), but lived experience.
That’s what’s been so valuable about @npub10v4…s27h ; recognizing MY story in so many others and for the first time not feeling like an alien.
When I search “epilepsy”, I mostly find news about epilepsy, rather than the experiences of epileptics.
