How would you define the level of "processed food"?
Some processing is good and necessary. Some processing not so good. The quantification is even more difficult.
In general, I wouldn't rely on any of such scores.
My approach is:
1) I look at the ingredient list, which already tells a lot.
2) I assess the food quality with my own senses, if possible. Although sometimes color can be misleading.
3) The more bullshit bingo is printed on the packaging, the less likely I buy it.
It takes a bit of experience but over time you get the drill.

The Nutri score is a RELATIVE score comparing products from the same category.
There's higher score pizzas and lower score pizzas. But you cannot compare the pizza score to the honey score.
I agree that the scoring system has very limited usefulness.
In the end, your whole diet is what counts, not individual meals.

Sometimes we are being woven into a fabricated narrative without even realizing. It is deliberately being constructed to steer us into some direction. Seemingly small things that can add up to big shifts in societal sentiments if many of us are unaware and pick it up.

A convincing argument against KYC or ID verification is that it creates data that will eventually be hacked and makes everyone a target for targeted scams, social engineering attacks, etc.

I agree that the subsidy provides a first runway for hashpower. Therefore, an attacker cannot simply spin up some hashpower themselves for the attack. OK.
However, I don't agree that this runway provides censorship resistance.
Public pressure might be helpful for now, but I doubt it will be enough long-term.
Even with spacially distributed energy availability and mining: What makes you so sure that nation states will not collaborate and push for censorship? (e.g. "sanctions") I am pretty sure they will some day. They will legally bind the miners to their will. Mining companies will comply, or they go out of business.
In the end, someone has to pay for the resistance. Either by directly mining the illegal/censored transactions or by paying a fee premium. In any case it's only possible with a sustained demand.

For beginners your recommendations probably still leave them with many questions how to do this exactly. I wonder if you did that on purpose, because you want them to take some of the steps themselves. Learning and executing on privacy is serious effort.
Privacy for the lazy could be another article. This is probably the hardest but largest audience.

Not future generations. The devaluation of the currency happens within months to a few years. Equity and real estate get more expensive. Savers, salaries, retirement contracts get devalued.

The term 'inflation' is weakly defined, often contradictory. Even Mises is struggling. I try to avoid it in building my economic theories.

True. If you want to measure Bitcoin as an asset class, you can do that.
My main point with regard to @nprofile…89xw s note is that price-related metrics in general are the wrong focus.
He described Bitcoin as "A leaderless decentralized cypherpunk open source software project that secures property rights and free speech for anyone and destroys central banking and financial censorship". If that's what you care about in Bitcoin you should be looking at other metrics than market cap. IMHO focus on market cap or price and NGU mentality are one of the biggest threats for Bitcoin at the moment. They are delusionary and allure many people to follow the wrong leaders for the wrong reasons.

There are a number of metrics that tell you how well bitcoin is doing.
Market cap reflects only the speculative asset character. And even there it fails. Think of all the lost coins that still count towards market cap.

A couple of points:
- I did not read Saifedean's texts. Cannot comment on that
- A fixed number of units does not lead to a constant supply (considering loss of keys or intentional destruction)
- Fixed supply does not lead to sustained recession.
The last point is often poorly understood. Do you assume that people will rather lock down their capital instead of investing because they expect higher purchasing power due to economic growth? But what if many people do so? Indeed economic decline, which would in turn lead to lower purchasing power instead of higher. So the assumption does not hold for the majority of people.
In the end, the prices will reflect these expectations and the rational decision is to invest if you can produce more value than you consume for production.
If you still think I am wrong, please let me know where. I have already learned something from you today.

What I observe is rather boys struggling with having no clear roles than adhering to outdated/gendered roles. Great article, Lyn! Thanks for the detailed explanations. I've been wondering about your position on the reserve currency status and think I am missing still one piece of the puzzle.
The world needs dollars - ok.
But why can this demand not be filled by printing dollars and buying gold or other assets instead of buying depreciating goods and services? It could counterbalance dollar overvaluation and keep the industrial base competitive.
From my perspective, the root cause of the socio-economic problems is not the trade deficit but the fractional reserve banking and the Cantillon effect, i.e. who profits from the newly created dollars.

What if a 51% pool would censor all blocks that were not mined by that pool? It would boost the profitability of that pool tremendously and create strong incentives to join that pool.
Combine that with legislation and pressure on the exchanges and big economic nodes to play along...

In that case you influence transaction activity of others to be in accordance to the protocol rules of your node.
Your node technically enables you to do that. But in the end, your power to influence others comes from your economic potential, not your node. It doesn't matter if you have 1 or 1000 nodes. Theoretically, you can do this even without node, in which case you cannot completely verify the settlement of the transaction yourself, but you could still exert your influence.
Or in other words, your node has zero influence if you don' t connect any economic activity to it.

A node doesn't have any influence on the network unless it adds blocks or pays fees.
Think of it like this: Your node only has READ access, but cannot write.
You can verify, but you cannot create.
Write access requires hashpower or transaction activity.

I feel with you. Maybe it's because the pioneers are already on the second adoption curve, which is medium of exchange. And that curve is still almost at zero.
However, if bitcoin shall remain free, peer to peer transactions are essential. Hodling is not sufficient. A significant amount of transaction fees must come directly from self-sovereign participants, who value privacy and censorship resistance.

I thought a lot about this during the past few days and it seems to me that we were talking about different things.
I was talking about the spreading of ideas and not the distribution of wealth or power.
And I still think that publishing patents accellerates the global distribution of ideas compared to companies not having this incentive to publish. In most cases it has nothing to do with dopamine but is a rational business decision.
Anyway, thanks for the discussion and sharing your thoughts.

IP protection enforcement shifts the power towards the larger lawyer armies, yes.
However, in terms of spreading ideas and accelerating competitive R&D, patents were clearly beneficial in mutliple cases in my experience. Both as inventor and utlilizing the large corpus of patents to generate new ideas.
And on a longer time horizon the ideas become public good, when the patents expire.

What people regularly dismiss with intellectual property legislation is that it actually promotes innovation and the spreading of ideas.
Patent laws provide a strong incentive to publish ideas instead of hiding or obscuring them. This provides a wealth of information for everyone, boosts competition early on before market penetration is too big, and incentivises faster development.
I see this every day.

Hashers should not be rewarded only per share. Their reward should be connected to an actual block so that they have an incentive to check that the pool operator behaves well.
