I’m pretty sure broader social and political effects (as 2nd order) was unpredictable for the engineers building these technologies as well. Even the visionary ones. (Steve Jobs - App Store is one example). Ain’t it all come down to the problem of affecting human behaviour at any sizeable scale? Wether it’s political, social etc. it seems hard to predict.

When I heard there are full-time careers in venture capital, I checked the meaning of the word “career”.

6 years ago while I was in collage determining my career path I read Mastering Bitcoin and I thought about technological trend; VR, AI and blockchain.

It is for a good reason though. It’s the ability to do it otherwise will make custodial services act good. Including law makers.
