@nprofile…pfuj Ever since you said this, I've been wishing someone would make a game and call it Ant Rancher. You play an ant who ranches aphids. As you level up, you get other ants, who ranch other livestock or do some other ant agriculture (some raise fungi, yes?) And you can get little hats for your ants to wear. You can find things in the environment like the butterscotch grandma dropped, or the apple core Johnny threw away, and this gives your ant coins (gems?) to buy more ant hats!

My internet provider is having an outage because of the snow, so I'm using my data for no really good reason other than to say:
When I was in 7th grade (1986?), my English class did a module on poetry, where I first read Robert Frost. The teacher had a (vinyl!) recording of him reading "Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening" and I was surprisingly affected listening to him read it, to hear the rhythm in his voice. And I can't help but think about it now, as I look out into the snowy trees.

Just FYI for Android users, I switched from Gemini to Google Assistant just as soon as it was possible to do so several weeks (months? what is time?) ago, and this morning happened to see that Google had "helpfully" switched it back to Gemini for me at some point.

I just learned that I need to put alt text on URLs for more accessible PDFs, but -- what should it say?
I am formatting academic citations that include a URL, so all the information about where that link will take you is in the text. I don't want it to read the URL to you and I don't want to just repeat the same information you just heard. What do you find most helpful in this situation?

Monsterdon tonight is the 80s classic horror movie THE GATE!
It's available to stream free (with ads) on Tubi (no account necessary) and on Amazon Prime. Available elsewhere, too, but not sure about cost.
I've only done a few Monsterdons, but it seems to start at 9pm Eastern (6pm Pacific / 01:00 Monday GMT) and then it's snark-at-your-own-pace -- don't forget hashtags!
I'm excited for this one because I love THE GATE for sentimental, if not cinematic, reasons. 😊

Ooooh, this Sunday's Monsterdon flick is THE GATE, which holds a special place in my heart because it's the first horror movie I ever saw with my dad. I was 10, we were really starting to butt heads, and horror movies ended up being "our thing" after that, a bridge that kept us connected.

@nprofile…8t0c They are all good shawls, but my fave of them is Striped Thundercloud, mostly because I am more of a color block person than a lace person. I like a shawl that's basically a blanket! I would probably switch up the color scheme to some nice mossy forest greens or maybe some painted desert kind of action.

These are rough estimate calculations that I did on no sleep when I saw the electoral vote tracker give it over to Trump this morning, but if someone says that people like Kamala Harris less than Hillary Clinton, she got about 1 mil more votes then Clinton did in 2020. Trump managed to surpass his 2020 numbers by 8 mil more votes. So if you want to dissect something, dissect that. After all he did in office and in the four your since, why did 8 mil estadounidenses like him more?
