@nprofile…8zmm Just curious, does #SlackwareARM 15.0 have any support for UEFI? I was hoping to try getting it installed on an old NVIDIA Tegra device that uses UEFI (on ARMv7 no less!!!), and while I'm sure the process would be a bit involved, having UEFI able to be configured out of the box would make things a little easier. Worst case scenario, minirootfs install it'll be! :)

@nprofile…qxrs @nprofile…cd2u ksh is my favorite shell for no real reason other than that it just feels right to me. Maybe it was because my first attempts at learning how to use any shell came from the O'Reilly book "Learning the Korn Shell."
As a bit of bonus fun, the Korn shell website has a section with photos of creator David Korn meeting the band KoЯn.

@nprofile…nlgf I excitedly await the results of your work on this RiscPC. It'd be very interesting to see how well ARMedslack 11 runs on the hardware. I've been non-seriously window-shopping for Iyonix hardware, so maybe I can play with Slackware a little bit (and RISC OS of course :) ).

In a bizarre trip down memory lane for the history of #Slackware, I've successfully installed #SlackwareARM 14.2 on my #RaspberryPi 1B.
It's painfully slow, and not particularly practical, as I can only connect online (probably a bad idea) using ethernet tethering from my #ThinkPad, also running Slackware. But it's pretty nice, and it was a hell of a lot of fun getting it running from the guide on the #SlackDocs wiki.

@nprofile…yjzh Oh yeah, it's really stable for a dev branch. The one thing you'll wanna look out for, is that if you use SlackBuild scripts from slackbuilds.org, you should use Ponce's fork of the repo, as it's more tailored to current.
I'd argue that Slackware current might even be more stable than some other distros' stable releases, like Debian.

I've been using current the whole time I've been using Slackware, and I couldn't be happier with it :-)

Today, Slackware Linux is 32 years old. As such, I love Slackware in all of 4,294,967,295 ways.

Just watched A New Hope for the first time in 6 years. Started with the special edition, this time I watched the Harmy remaster. Not as bad as I remember. Ofc, I initially went into it with a bad mind after seeing the dumpster fire that was the prequels first. But now it's quite nice. Original trilogy (in the original cut) is all I care to watch, so don't bother telling me to watch the others.
Tron is still better imo :3

Internally debating whether I should pick up a #ThinkPad T43 and using it as my main #NetBSD machine. Currently I have an X260 running #Slackware and an X1 Carbon 6th gen running #CRUX and #Debian but I don't have a machine I can dedicate solely to NetBSD. I also got my Raspberry Pi 4 running #SlackwareARM. I've always just had to run NetBSD in a VM, but I don't wish to anymore. Is it a worthwhile endeavor?

@nprofile…mg0e So now that #SlackwareARM is running on Apple silicon via paravirtualization, is there any sort of roadmap towards getting it to run on bare metal? With all the work the Asahi project has put into Linux's M-series Mac support, it shouldn't be too terrible to implement. If Slackware ARM did ever end up supporting bare metal Macs, I might be inclined to pick up a MacBook Pro and be a guinea pig tester ;)

Calling all oldheads who worked with UUCP. I was flipping through an old O'Reilly book of mine and found this. Being younger, I never used UUCP, so forgive me if I understand poorly, but basically UUNET, as an ISP, had publicly accessible UUCP servers that they treated like FTP, correct?
That's cool and all, but what I wanna know is if there's any more such services available these days. I'm fascinated by UUCP and need an excuse to try it.
