🤷 ATProto como protocolo es federado. Pero está incompleto y no hay incentivos para montar otro nodo, tendrías que estar jugando al gato y al ratón con el nodo central.
ActivityPub no es la panacea. Solo hay que leer a la gente tratando de implementar servicios con él. Y el modelo "Feudalverso" en el que estás a expensas del admin de tu estancia y no se puede mover tu contenido cuando quieres migrar me parece que tiene mucho margen de mejora.

A diferencia de Mastodon, Bluesky tiene identidad nómada para quien quiera alojar su propio PDS.

Does build-less mean "I don't care what the build backend is, since this is pure Python" or skipping parts of the installation process entirely? Where can I read more?

Folks I have something to tell you.
Many of us were using Telegram not because it was secure. We were using it because it was useful, easy to use, feature-rich, and fun. Unlike WhatsApp (I lose my message history in every migration, communities are a nightmare, the desktop app is shit). Unlike Signal (hello? is there anybody here?). Unlike Matrix (a UX nightmare I can't even start describing).
Maybe you could start practicing the art of TALKING TO USERS

I love the @npub1l2k…6m2l, it's consistently well written and packed with insightful bits.
I learned that a few Spaniard influencers joined Bluesky, maybe it's time for me to explore Bsky-Fedi bridges...
For tech stuff and degrowth/sustainability I'm loving it here so I will stay on Mastodon for the time being.
(But considering moving to social.coop or some other instance, ActivityPub clearly doesn't provide a good experience on single-user instances)

The installation instructions only show SSH-enabled VPS and containers https://docs.gotosocial.org/en/latest/getting_started/installation/metal/
So I don't know how to deploy it to a shared hosting (typically no SSH, FTP, PHP, MySQL/PostgreSQL, and not much else)
About snac, I suppose you mean https://codeberg.org/grunfink/snac2 ? I don't see in the docs any deployment manuals for shared hosting. Everything seems to assume SSH.

That issue kind of mixes the computing resources needed to build such wheels with the storage infrastructure required to serve them. AFAIK, for the former conda-forge relies exclusively on free infrastructure (GitHub Actions, Circle CI, AppVeyor back in the day). The hosting is graciously provided by Anaconda Inc at least for now. If PyPI enabled the concept of "channels" or provided an alternate index, very little extra funding would be needed.

Thanks for chiming in Filipe! I fully acknowledge that there might be specific fields in which it's not typical, or possible, to provide wheels. But aren't those more rare these days? Do you have specific examples?
