Well, once again Sekibanki doesn't hold much interest in socializing. Or rather, maybe she does. It's just hard for such an introverted loner to get along with anyone. She might end up staying at home a bit during the season to avoid any crowds at her workplace in the spring season. Of course Sekibanki herself will end up at the cherry blossom viewings at the Hakurei Shrine, though when not dragged around by Wakasagihime and Kagerou, it'll be lonely drinking for her. Hopefully one of these days someone can help alleviate her lonely nature.

Former Hell's spring is a scary time. Cherry blossom stones falling from the ceiling of the entire area, of course all those who are in Former Hell can handle such things. Oni overactive to all go cherry blossom viewing (or rather, drink). Such times are ones where Satori wouldn't want to be around, she'll instead shut herself inside the palace. The worry about where Koishi is still lingers, though all Satori can do is hope Koishi handles herself.

@nprofile…88vs Well, instead of grabbing some Xenoverse 2 DLC to play with a friend (who recently decided to clean up what he was missing), I now have two mushroom girls on the way at some point. Apparently ordering in this manner instead of the 3/6 packs can cause duplicates but fuck it, we ball (no Dragon Balls though). :cirno_heh:
As an aside, I was considering ordering a Transform Electrical Street series girl instead since all their designs are amazing, but the hair requires maintenance I'm not sure I'm prepared enough to consistently provide. Super cute set though, if I ever get into this enough I start looking into maintaining doll hair I would love to get one.

And yes, it's two chapters of a larger series. Series context doesn't matter besides the fact this is a nice town rather than a fantastic realm. The point is, Medicine no matter her form was abandoned. That's an emotional weight that truly stays with her. She needs love to recover. Reaching closer to humanity would help her grow as a person and as a youkai.
Maybe Lily was happy to have her poison. Maybe Medicine too is happy to have hers.

Also Eiki does make a good deal out of how human-like she acts. It's like how Kogasa's body isn't functionally that of an umbrella despite the umbrella being an important part of her.

@nprofile…88vs It just now hit me that the first one I posted here is specifically based on the ink cap mushroom. It's such an obvious design yet I somehow didn't notice at first. Man that's such a cute way to integrate that thing's unique appearance into a girl.
For reference, the ink cap is a super weird mushroom that very quickly starts turning into black sludge stuff after being picked or releasing spores. It looks really neat and kinda odd. I almost want to throw money at this pack just to get her because that's such a good design.

@nprofile…88vs Ranking is a bit much, but evaluations I can do. I wont write it for all of them but assume unless specified that the fairies might need time to learn about relationships and motherhood for a bit. These things aren’t exactly common for a fairy to know about.
Let’s start with the easier ones, first Eternity Larva. Easier? I have poor judgement. She’s a god who chose to hide away as a fairy to provide another fight against Okina a completely normal fairy with absolutely nothing else going on. She’s weirdly relaxed for a fairy which has no reason whatsoever, even if she usually acts as playful as the others. She’s also way more knowledgeable than the usual fairy, can’t tell why. Probably one of the more capable ones who would understand and be able to handle being a wife and mother. Only problem you’d have is her current form nature as a fairy with a summer focus kind of becomes a shut in during the winter.
Daiyousei! An actual easy one. She’s your typical fairy for the most part, a simpleminded and constantly joyful prankster. She has a little more to her though, as she has shown concern for Cirno when playing together. Dai would be a little unprepared for things like marriage and motherhood, but she could handle it. Her care would shine through.
Lily White is some of the same as Daiyousei, but with an added love of spring and heralding of spring. That might help a bit with the motherhood bit, not sure. Spring is the season of life and birth after all. Also contrary to what people think, she’s not a shut in outside of spring. Spring is just the only time she does the big yell. She also, weirdly for a fairy, actually doesn’t have the desire for tricks or pranks. She’s just happy to be around and is even on good terms with most humans (shrine maidens who want to shoot her not included) so it’d be easier at least to get involved with her.
Oddballs are starting here, Cirno. She’s the most defined of the fairies and quite a full character. She’s dumb, arrogant, loves pranks, thinks she’s the absolute best, and cute. Ice is not a natural element for a fairy notably, as fairies are defined by life in nature while ice is notably often considered a lack of life in nature. Still, these oddities make her strong and kind of nice to be around. She would act as a hero merely because she believes she’s strong enough to be one. That is to say, she’d be a scatterbrained wife who really would be hard to keep calm but she would be very passionate. Probably would fight people (and lose) to argue you’re the best husband because the strongest would obviously get with the best. Motherhood would be mostly her teaching the children how to act similar to her, which means you’re probably doing most of the parenting. She would at least care a lot about her children.
Clownpiece! She’s weird in a completely different way. Turns out there’s a one in a million chance of a hell fairy coming into existence. Being born in such a strong area, she’s far stronger than a standard fairy and slightly more intelligent still not at Eternity Larva’s levels though, turns out being a god means something. She’s got odd tastes formed by being around Hecatia and living in hell for a while. Though her personality is much like other fairies, she does have quite a bit of thought put into her actions. Unless it involves hell, in which case she sets the Hakurei Shrine on fire again because hell is rad. Anyways she likes chaos but is also a fairly intelligent fairy, so for the most part she’d be an interesting wife who might want to see what you look like when you go mad. As a mother? Your children are all going to be wearing tacky Welcome Hell brand shirts.
Three fairies are going to be in nonsense order because I don’t know how to sort. Star Sapphire is scary. She’s got the standard fairy nature, but with tons of common sense and a horrifyingly scheming mind. She is the first to run and last to arrive at a scene. Honestly, even if she is a weak fairy, she’s going to be controlling in the relationship. A brat to the end. She definitely knows about relationships and motherhood and would tease you constantly. She also likes stuff people might find strange. As a mother, she’ll probably be fine but she will use it to tease you and get the kids to tease you too.
Luna Child is a gamble. She greatly enjoys human stuff, including reading human works. Loves coffee too. While Luna keeps up the fairy mindset, she’s almost overridden it with her enjoyment of playing human. Still will partake in pranks, but is far clumsier when it comes to such things. Whether she knows about romance is questionable, but she definitely doesn’t know anything further. She will be woefully unprepared but try her best to be a proper mother and wife (also fun fact, since Luna can erase sound she’d probably erase her own moans out of embarrassment).
Sunny is well, Sunny. She’s your standard fairy. It’s weird to say, but she’s the least predictable. She’s a leader, but she’s not really got some specialization into non-fairy attitudes like the others. Instead she just does the typical of loving pranks and messing with refracting light. Cheery and lighthearted. Never brought down by anything. It’d be hard to ever be sad with her as a wife. As a mother, she’d just power through with her normal attitude.
For sake of special mention, Lily Black isn’t considered a separate character by ZUN, but if you were to consider her one she’s basically just a caretaker for Lily White more often than not. Essentially already acting like a mother or older sister. And no, I will not go over every single type of standard fairy because that’d be a mess and the reality is half the types of mob fairy are just normal fairies cosplaying for fun. Just take the Daiyousei statement and replace the caring nature with an interest in whatever part of nature that fairy has control over.

I need to link this because I cannot fathom who this is for. Having played the demo for Keine's Expanding Class, this game's gameplay is not good enough to carry a proper SFW version. It's clear this game's gameplay loop is meant more for the getting horny and getting off than it is actually being fun. But here it is, a version with only Sukusuku and no horny elements.

Happens. In MGE's case it seems to me this particular super niche was carved out from the start. The thing is basically a cookbook for OCs based on a topic that was already somewhat niche. It's for the best, it means far less idiots trying to show up and fuck everything up and fewer still who show up without getting kicked out right away, but it also leads to a problem of actually finding people to get into it.
It's not like finding writers with a Touhou interest is all too easy either, at least of those who speak english. https://www.thp.moe/ exists, though I haven't touched the place myself it seems to be relatively frequently used for writing. Not sure anyone there is actually open to taking prompts or not though beyond the occasional site-wide writing events that are seemingly thrown around.

@nprofile…88vs You probably could, it’d just take finding a guy who actually writes and is willing to delve into Touhou a bit. Fairies are both easier and harder to write for since they’re so simple of girls. Nature given form living true to their desires, but still with individual personalities and the likes. Fairies do actually have long term memory though, and things like flowers live far longer when cherished by a fairy.
Helps that there are all kinds of fairies for all kinds of natural phenomenon (things associated with a lack of life excluded, Cirno is extremely unique as an ice fairy. Some more Lily White for the coming of spring. She’s always so excited to share all her love for the season, it’s hard not to love her. Her shouts reach the ends of the world and bring about the cherry blossoms of which could be seen as perfect beauties. Spotting her in flight should be considered a good omen, for she is at her fastest and strongest within the coming of spring.

Anyways while I'd say I do have some doujins I really like with Flan, none of it is really romance and most are non-h anyways. H stuff is fine, but very little of it feels worth linking, a lot of the basics that you could get easily yourself by just grabbing the Flan tag on any given h site. It’s the same reason why so many “romance” manga rely on the MC being functionally brain dead to not understand a girl saying outright “I want to fuck you” and using a complex series of mental gymnastics to instead take it as “I want to fight you.” Resolving romance requires actually coming to a conclusion and choosing, and any choice could possibly alienate a reader. Best keep it going as long as possible to milk it.
Though trash fantasy/isekai ends up having series that somehow create the opposite problem, being too willing to accept the romance. Oh we’re married within the first volume, and now nothing matters anymore and the romance is never brought up again (or the guy just keeps getting more girls ad nauseam). It ends up feeling empty since everyone gets so little time to become a character.

What is there to say about Satori, at least that hasn't been said? A drastically overworked shut-in of a girl, managing Former Hell. An older sister who can't help but worry about whatever Koishi has managed to get up to. A detective who can't catch a break when it comes to vengeful spirits. Maybe even a hopeless romantic, waiting for one who would love her perfectly in spite of the mind reading? Satori is a girl with a lot going on, and she's quite lovely for handling all of it the best she can.

Generally those two bring a lot more sisterly relation stuff than anything else (all possible meanings there, the more questionable ones I will not post for obvious reasons). Makes for good non-h stories about the girls but it tends to take romance out entirely.

Another for the sake of it, Hina admiration is in style. Given her overly frilly and special outfit full of ribbons, it's only natural some would find her beautiful. All of those extras make it even more impressive how fast she spins while keeping everything intact. It's a grace that's oft brushed aside by the joke. The focus will always be on her misfortune, so it's hard to see other aspects of her clearly.

A day of dolls, and a day of Hina. She’s quite a nice goddess, absorbing the people’s misfortune and healthily cleansing the world, though her popularity is far from high. Turns out even being associated with misfortune causes the average person to associate her with bringing misfortune, as if she were some kind of poverty goddess. Still, Hina is a nice girl and it’s best to pay her some respect for what she does to help those around her. I’m sure she’d just shoot down your complements, she’s not much a fan of attention after all, but it’s still worthwhile to treat her nicely.

Who would think that oddball youkai you might see hiding out under the willow trees could be such a lovable girl? Even as you might sit with her and admire the dissonance between her desire for more interactions with others and the loner actions she performs, it seems odd that she would ever try to appear as a scary youkai. That's just how she is and she's all the cuter for it.

A poverty goddess. Not exactly a girl you'd want to meet. Poor luck, bad financials, it's a long list of problems. Yet she's such a cute girl, and she gets equally effected by her own power. I have no idea who made this image but that is some extreme Kasen slander. She's certainly not the kind to force actual hermit beliefs on others considering how little she believes in them herself. A method of atoning for sins isn't quite the same as being a fanatic (too bad her arm will never get to atone).

This man could justify buying $200 worth of GBA roms in a very basic emulator shell with no special functionality, a Cars licensed game, one of limited run’s collections of awful licensed kids games from the 90s, and both Sword and Shield, but somehow not Legends Arceus or Legends Z-A. I could understand Z-A for its quality (well, actually I can’t considering this man clearly has no financial self-control or care for quality anyways), but Arceus is a genuinely good game. :cirno_what2: I feel like I’m looking at the system of a strawman. Occasional wolf girl post is occasional.
Poor wolf tengu are overworked even in the winter. The mountain needs protected, and thus its the girls' duty to ensure that it stays safe. Regardless it'd be nice if they had anything to do beyond pass the time with shogi. By comparison Kagerou has it nice, not much to care about beyond taking care of the Grassroots Youkai Network and living life to the fullest.

@nprofile…h33r @nprofile…0mma @nprofile…rrmz I think the last thing I actually enjoyed playing from Xbox was Forza Horizon 4, and that's mostly because it was dirt cheap in the delisting sale. :cirno_doubt: I mean, the game's dialogue was shit and missions varied in quality, but the fun of just doing shit was there.
It also helps I could make my own goals related to having fun with cute decals. Whoever decided to make the best Suwako decal on the Sprite MKI was a genius.

After taking the situation in for a bit while packing my belongings up at home, I decided to make sure nothing else could be a problem. First would be to inform the boss of the fact I wouldn't be showing up to work. It was a basic construction job, but it paid well. I was almost going to miss it.
Reaching the worksite for the day, the boss spotted me and smirked. After shouting a few orders around, he came over. "So, what're you here for today? It is your day off after all." Yet he kept a smug, knowing tone to all he said, like he knew what I was going to say. I told him I'd be quitting, as I found something else, and that I regretted not being able to tell him sooner. "Oh? Is that it. Well, I wouldn't want to take away from your lucky situation, or maybe unlucky would be better?" My situation? What would he have known? "So you haven't seen them then?" His smirk grew wider. He nearly seemed like he was going to laugh. "Alright, well I wouldn't want to hold or this job up any longer." A small bit of seriousness, but he did let out a chuckle. "See you around."
Odd exchanges like that leave me exhausted. I decided to wrap up the cleanup with a night at a bar. It was rather uneventful, outside of a few jabs towards me being 'lucky.'
And the very next day, I heard a loud knocking at the door again. This time however, it was not violent nor dangerous. "I'm finally here! All the paperwork and the mandatory classes on humans took a while!" It was her. The wolf that had ensnared me. I rushed, opening the door as soon as I could. Peering down at her, her smile once again took over all the thoughts in my mind. Her tail was wagging, seemingly more like a loyal dog than a dangerous wolf in this moment. "So, fiancé, are you ready for the time of your life?" She put extra emphasis on the word for our newfound relationship, and it caused my heart to beat worryingly fast. All I could do was agree. "Good, so let's get going." Right now? "There's no time to waste. After all, it was fate that brought you to me." She picked me and my luggage up, then started flying as fast as she could. On our way out, I noticed it. A flier. One likely posted all over the village. When had they had the time? It was advertising a wedding for today, hosted at the Hakurei Shrine.
Mid-flight, we held a conversation about our immediate future. "Right now western styled weddings are trending among the Tengu, and I couldn't miss the chance." Western? I had heard of them from a few outsiders who joined the village, but I had never seen one. "Don't worry, they're rather simple affairs. A few words, a kiss, and then we hold a reception for the rest of the time. More importantly, I'll get to see your lovely body in a suit!" Ah. I think I saw what she was after here. It was about the outfits more than the event. Well, outside of the importance of the kiss. I couldn't argue, I'm sure no matter what she'd be wearing I would find it inconceivably beautiful. "Once the wedding is over, we'll get to head over to your new home. Our first night together!" I couldn't begin to imagine how it would feel. "You'll love it." I'm sure I would.
Reaching the Hakurei Shrine was a quick journey. Turns out flight had obvious benefits. Upon arriving, a whole slew of things seemed unusual. A small stage had been set up, along with many chairs. Some stalls were strewn about, serving food, drink, and the usual water flavored shaved ice. As soon as we landed, I was dragged off by some other Wolf Tengu, while I saw my beloved run off in another direction. "Don't worry, it's part of the preparations!" Her shout helped, but I was still a little nervous.
I was brought to a small side room, where an incredibly fancy suit awaited me. The wolves who dragged me along all had stars in their eyes. The excitement for the occasion had clearly gotten to them. "There's a changing room over there, get into the suit quickly." It was a cold order, but their faces were anything but cold. I had the feeling if I weren't about to be married these girls would've pounced. Was a human really that appealing? Still, I did as ordered. I wanted to have the wedding too. The suit worried me, it was the kind of thing a standard guy like me could never afford. Where had it come from?
With the suit on, I walked back out of the changing room and was met with something I hadn't expected. My parents. In the chaotic whirlwind of events these past few days, I had forgotten to talk to them. Or rather, maybe I didn't want to. Maybe I was worried about how what they'd think of me. Here I was, their son, the child they raised, and I was determined to live with a youkai. I wasn't sure who or what had brought them here, but it was time to face reality. Thankfully, it seemed they weren't as frustrated as I thought. They looked happy. "So, you finally snagged yourself a woman? Why didn't you tell me right away, you idiot?" My father was the first to interrupt the silence. Not any amount of worry. Just a light tease as he slapped me directly on the back with full force. Meanwhile my mother took a calmer tone.
"Really, your father is such as hassle. Still I have agree, I'm quite proud of you. It's important you know, we could never hate you." Had I been that apparent in my worries? "It was written all over your face. This may be an unusual marriage, but you love her, don't you?" I do. "That's that then. It seems like the ceremonies are about to start, so you should get ready."
With that, I was guided out of the waiting area, along with my parents following close behind. The seats had been filled, though mostly it was a lot of youkai. Lots of Tengu, clearly, and quite a few others. Even worrying ones like the flower youkai had been in the audience. Hopefully the shrine maiden would stop anyone from becoming a problem. The only humans I could spot, outside of a few friends, were the oddballs. The Moriya Shrine Maiden, along with the towering goddess of the shrine and a third girl I can't say I had ever seen before. Then there was Kirisame's daughter, only a given she would be involved in something this unusual. I knew it had to be done this way due to the nature of the marriage, though it worries me that the day had turned into a festival. Regardless of my feelings, I took my place on the stage, in front of the Hakurei Shrine Maiden.
Following my walk, my bride had exited her waiting area as well. Surrounded by a few other wolves, she took the spotlight clearly. The pure white dress was so captivating I nearly forgot to breathe. It was overly voluminous, frills everywhere. It had made her unusually sized body seem gorgeous in a tame manner, covering most of her skin. The uncovered arms only made it feel more pure, as if to say that the dress matched her very skin the way it did her hair and tail. She was a work of art. I'm sure if anyone else had been wearing it I wouldn't have had the same reaction. The dress alone wasn't what caught me off guard though, she had clearly put her all into her appearance. Her hair was styled and full of flowers, riding the outline of the dress all the way down to her shoes. A veil covered her face, but I could tell it was as clean as possible. Not a spec of dirt from the usual guard work. The longer I looked the more infatuated I got. It led to me hardly noticing that she arrived at the stage as well.
A fairly standard procession occurred, not all that unlike what I'd expect from a wedding. The veil was lifted. We thanked the gods for the auspicious meeting we had been granted. Following that, we were asked to give vows. She and I both agreed right away of course. Then, what I had been dreading and anticipating. "You may now kiss the bride." I worked up the anticipation to bend down slightly, though it turned out I wouldn't need to. She decided to play a little trick on me, flying up a bit to meet me at my eye level. It left her dress hovering, and her hair a little shaken. Seeing her face again so clear got my heart to skip a beat. Her beautifully young face. And so, we kissed. And kissed. It felt like an eternity. My body got hot enough to start a fire. I had never yet felt this passion in my whole life, and I wasn't sure I'd ever feel it again.
In spite of the feeling of endlessness that had taken me, it was a mere few moments before she floated back down and landed. I don't know where she had gotten them, but she had rings for us to share. The rings were also wondrous. A clear representation of the beauty of the Wolf Tengu which had taken my heart, a subtle red within a white exterior. I placed one upon her finger, as she did mine. Whilst she was closing in, she whispered towards me. "Say, do you know what it is all Tengu desire most? A laughably simple desire, one humans would never even consider. Tengu want nothing more than human husbands. The one thing that we can't easily get. They say the love of a human husband is a pleasure unmatched. I'm glad to have you as my pleasure." The ceremony had started concluding and giving way to the reception, and I was left stunned for a solid minute.
Moving past the ceremony was going to be hard. Sadly the world decided that I would need to adapt quickly, as the second it had finished the stage was rushed. Every Tengu in the audience scrambled towards us, and a few others also ran in. Meanwhile in the back, I could see the Prismrivers start to play too, while a few rowdy youkai got into some battles with the festive atmosphere. Surely the Tengu hadn't paid for a Prismriver performance too? I looked towards my new wife, and she merely gave me a smug grin. It seems the Tengu could not afford to spare any expense for the sake of showing off. Still, it was hard to think straight with so many Tengu around, especially all the wolves looking inspired. I think I may have even seen a few targeting some of the few humans who had shown up.
"How did it happen?"
"Do you think I have a chance?"
"Do you know any other good men around?" A bombardment of questions while an uncountable number of tails had wagged all around. I couldn't keep up, and instead took the hand of my new wife and ran off to find a place to rest. She seemed surprised by the gesture, though she was more than happy to go along with it.
Catching a break in a small side room of the shrine, I heard her finally speak up again. "So, dear husband, how did you like the event?" It was a deep surprise. I hadn't expected any of this, especially not for an event the outsiders referred to as a 'shotgun wedding.' "Wonderful. This is how we Tengu do things, how youkai do things in general. Thinking, worrying, those are all human natures. If a youkai wants to do something, she'll do it." It was clear right away what she meant. So much had been spent on everything happening here it was likely I would've never afforded even a tenth of it were I to save up for my whole life.
"Ah, come on honey, ignore that human view of the world for a moment." The emphasis she placed on saying 'honey' started my heart racing again. "It was all worth it so I could be with you." Once again, she broke me. And once again, she had noticed. "Ah, you want to move that quick. I can feel it already." It felt weird to have her talk without explanation again. "Come, we'll spend this night together in the best way possible." With that, I was dragged off my feet. She flew out of the shrine, yelled into the crowd "We'll be leaving early to get started on our newlywed life," then started flying off towards the mountain. I could see more fights and general chaos happening at what was now just another festival as we gained more distance. At this point I could hardly care, I just wanted to be together with her.
Reaching the Tengu Village ended up less of a break than I expected. We were stopped a fair distance away, where we were taken to what appeared to be an office. "As is standard for Tengu society, you must now sign a contract to uphold some of our most important values. You must not talk of the village or what you see within it to anyone outside. You must not reveal secrets of the Tengu to anyone else. You must not go against the will of the Tenma. There's a great many more sub-clauses to our contracts, but they all follow that general outline. Most important though, is you must not betray or make sad your new wife." I couldn't hold back my shock that such a thing needed to be put into print. "Failure to uphold your relationship or any betrayal from your part will give her full rights over you, at which point you are no longer considered a person by law. You don't look the sort to do anything to that effect, but keep it in mind." The Crow Tengu running the office clearly wanted to make that last point especially clear. She looked like she was on the verge of saying something else, but seemed to decide against it with a mumble about 'not scaring any more humans for no reason.'
Signing the contract was easily done. I had no qualms with anything I heard anyways. "Oh, husband, don't be scared but I need to place a curse on you now." That was more worrying. "Well, our contracts can't actually hold any magic. We place the curse so we know immediately if a clause was broken, and so that we can take responsibility for our own husbands. It won't activate so long as you don't break any of the clauses mentioned." Perhaps I should've asked for more detail then. What was done was done though, so I let her go ahead.
A few minutes later, it seemed she was finished. I couldn't say I felt much of anything though. "Of course you wouldn't." It was the office worker who had just come back from filing our contract. "It would hardly be beneficial to if our clause-based curses caused others harm before any clause was actually broken. These are the result of years upon years of refinement, and a little bit of research of the oni artifacts left here." While we were here, I had to ask. Was I at risk of becoming a youkai? "Absolutely not. Maybe an increased lifespan, but losing your humanity? The Hakurei and the sages never would've agreed to allow these marriages if that was to happen. Ask your wife there more about that later." Seemingly the Crow had gotten tired of seeing me. My beloved picked me back up and started flying us back into Tengu society proper.
In the village, I saw many things. It was clear the Tengu had been hiding quite a bit from everyone else. Sizable buildings and technology beyond what I could ever associate with a normal life. I had seen one or two devices of this manner before from groups like the kappa setting up an event, but never to this extent. In spite of my surprise, the flight continued until we reached a nice, sizable home. The place we were to live. It seemed a bit too big for just the two of us, though I was already sure of what that meant. "The Dai Tengu greatly incentivize having large families." I could tell. This home looked large enough to house a family of five. "It's actually far bigger than that." Yeah? "The average home for a married Tengu is able to house a family of twenty." I looked at her to see if that was a joke. It seemed it wasn't. "It's tradition. Of the few male Tengu we have, they're all too stuck on making maps and 'GPS,' so it's rare to see one unless a pure Tengu marriage happens. We need large families to keep up with the work on the mountain, especially the guard duty." Yet even with the logical view of things, it seemed to me like her voice was hiding a different outlook on the matter. "Of course, if it's with you I wouldn't mind needing to move to an even bigger home." Ah, there it was.
So we took the time to move in, looking around the home. We decided on the bedroom we would use after finding one extravagant. We had a nice meal. We took a shower and bath together, much to my embarrassment. 'It seemed like it would be a good life' was the thought that crept into my mind. Then I saw her look as we entered the bedroom. It seemed we would be going in right away, on the first night.
It was a very sleepless night. I don't think I've ever been so dehydrated, even in the summer helping with the fields. I can't even recall what was happening during most of it, just the feelings the act brought about. She still looked full of energy though, as if our overly long and exhausting session had been rejuvenating to her. Just one more surprise. "Good morning sweetheart." I uttered a small greeting in response. Even if it were all a strange and rapid change, I'm glad this is the direction my life took. Though I did have to ask about her squad she was a part of, and this finally got her to seem a little shy about something. "I, ah..." She blushed. "Traditionally in Tengu Culture, a man would get married to a whole pack when getting with a White Wolf. You don't need to worry about it for now, but your life could get a bit more chaotic in the future." Well then, I guess I have to prepare for a long and eventful life.

As a forward, this is a very stream of consciousness kind of thing. I'm a terrible writer and this was done more for the challenge and the sake of it than anything else. The premise is Tengu shotgun wedding, and it will be absurdly paced due to my insistence on being a short story with four acts. This isn't about Momiji but I doubt I'll find any images of a mob Tengu to post. Please do (or don't) enjoy.
A festival at the Moriya Shrine. Not all that uncommon. The folks of the village like me often end up at festivals like this, even if it's the only time we visit the shrines directly. Whatever occasion this one was for, I cannot quite remember. Still it's an enjoyable time. The poorly disguised youkai around are a little unnerving, but the presence of a shrine maiden will assure they behave. More concerning than the worry of being harmed by a violent youkai would be that of falling for the kappa's extortionate prices. At least, that's the general view.
Sadly it seems I am unable to enjoy this festival. Not for a lack of trying. It seems my misfortune has built too high and even the gods cannot help me. That's the thought that entered my mind as I tripped and slipped off while looking off one of the edges of the mountain. The Youkai Mountain. A rotten thing misfortune is.
Weirdly though, as the panic hit me and the likelihood of death seemed high, it all stopped. I hadn't hit the ground, nor had a youkai taken my life then and there. My fears would not come to pass. "Can't have one of the village getting hurt. It's hard to imagine what those insane gods up on the mountain would do to us if they found out." I spotted the speaker's distinctive ears and tail whilst she re-positioned me in her arms. A Wolf Tengu. She had a very stern look, one that had me scared she was just as likely to drop me as she was to help. In the meantime, she had put me in a rather embarrassing pose. I believe one of the outside folk who stayed with us once called this a 'bridal carry.' "Don't worry, we'll get you back to safety." She had forced a small smile when saying that, seemingly to calm me down.
That small smile melting my guard. Her abnormally small stature that clearly still held the admirable strength of the Wolf Tengu. Her overly long hair, reaching far enough down that I couldn't tell where it would stop had she been on the ground, that was unfitting of a guard but looked gorgeous. Her unnaturally large assets, easily competing with those of any woman I've ever seen, contrasting her youthful and compact body. It all did something to me. I can't place it. My longing for home was supplemented in that moment with this new feeling.
She noticed. At least, I think she did. A wide grin spread across her face, along with a large blush. Her ears twitched and her tail started moving about. "Oh, you're one of those kinds. I'll need to file some paperwork, but I think we can make this work." I had no idea what she meant. My confusion seemed to only make her grin grow wider. I couldn't place my own feelings, yet here she was reading that which I couldn't understand. "It's rather uncommon for this kind of meeting to happen in this manner, but a feeling like this when it comes to youkai means destiny." I had to ask. What had she meant? What was this longing?
"I wouldn't want to spoil the fun. Let it sit for a bit. Here, you'll be able to head home and continue on for a bit." She let me down at the Shrine again. Clearly some time had passed as the festival was starting to wrap up. "While you're busy, I'll need to have a few talks with my superiors and the others of my pack." Why was she bothering to keep telling me this? Yet, I couldn't bring myself to say anything in response. "Just keep me in mind for a while, I'm sure you'll be seeing a few unusual visitors in the coming week." During all of this, she never had her smile slip. It had thrown me into an uncomfortable mood before, but the longer I experienced it, the more warm it made me feel inside.
"Goodbye for now. I'll be seeing you again very soon." With that, she was gone. I couldn't hope to fly like the myriad women around this world could, so all I could do is sit for a minute and take in what happened. Peering over, the green shrine maiden seemed to be looking oddly at me. It looked like a mix of embarrassment and excitement.
As she ran off upon noticing my stare, all I heard from the distance was a faint yell, "Kanako-sama, it's happened!" After that, it was back to the relative quiet as everyone had started riding the rope-way down. Of course, I joined them, unsure what to make of the events that made up the "festival" for me. All it got me was a feeling I need resolved and a connection formed with an odd Tengu.
A few days passed, and a loud knock was at the door. Dangerously loud. "Open up before I break your door wide open, I want this resolved as soon as possible." I could tell right away who this was. The Hakurei Shrine Maiden. Nobody in the village would ever deny her an order when this clearly frustrated.
"Reimu, don't be like that. I'm the one who caught him, if he's too intimidated he won't agree to host it at the shri-." A loud noise, clearly whoever was speaking had been hit.
"It's not happening at your shrine. 'In a situation like this, the Hakurei must be the one to handle it.' Or that's what Yukari keeps saying, really all I need are the donations from such an event." I had opened the door around halfway through this strange conversation, not entirely sure what either was doing or saying. Once I had opened it, it became apparent the other one talking was the Moriya Shrine Maiden.
With a stern glare, the Hakurei spoke to me. "It's been a while since this last happened. Someone like you tires me out to no end." What? "Look, you have to know what caused this right?" Did it have to do with the strange meeting with the Tengu earlier? "Well, at least that thing on your shoulders isn't just for decoration. To be blunt, you've been-..." And then she was cut off by the Moriya.
"Hey, be more romantic about it! This is a big moment!" During that shout she had been overly energetic, emoting with every word. This earned the Moriya another hit from the Hakurei.
"Ignore starstruck over there. She doesn't know what she's saying."
"But Reimu, I know you read romance stories too-" Another hit. I was baffled at this point. What exactly was this about?
"To get to the point, congratulations are in order." She still hadn't explained what it was I had done. "I'm sure you've felt it, what did the stupid moon doctor call it, spiritual longing? You found a soulmate in a youkai." That's what this was? "Love, desire, whatever you would call it. Point is, right now I ought to be scolding you and separating the bond. Sadly-"
"Reimu, you wouldn't have done that anyways. When's the last time you truly hated a youkai?"
"Fine. I'm indifferent to your newfound relationship. I just need to verify you want this. The reason I'm tolerating the girl next to me is because she's here representing the mountain on the matter." Another interjection ensued.
"That's right! Kanako-sama, Suwako-sama, and the Tengu were super excited to hear about a new soulmate situation among the Tengu! I want to hear all about how it happened!"
While these two kept up the banter, I had been stuck thinking. It hadn't hit me just how much a link like this would feel. In spite of how it had played out, I couldn't get that Wolf Tengu girl out of my mind. Having proper names and emotions to put to what I felt ended up all too satisfying while also leaving new desires. Against my better judgment, a small grin spread across my face. I think I understand now. She had already known. It was true love at first sight.
"Hey, are you even listening? If you don't answer whether this is truly what you want, I'll knock you out and have Suika get the answer out of you. An oni would love to interrogate your romance." That sounded quite scary. Regardless, I had my answer, and thus didn't need to risk anything. Yes. I wanted this. "Good. Saves me a lot of hassle. Hey, Sanae, throw out your piece." For such an important event, that had ended fairly quickly. And it was mentioned earlier, but why exactly did the Moriya need to be here?
"I'm sorry, I got so excited thinking about the love stories that I forgot what I was doing. So, the Tengu also needed verification of your approval, and I'm here to inform you that you'll be living as a stay-at-home husband. Hold on a moment." She clearly fished around her sleeves for a minute. "Tengu culture puts great importance on the power of the Tengu. Males are rare and women often rule the homes. Keep this in mind, your life will be very different." She acted extremely serious about it all, though it took a little out of the speech when she had faffed about to grab the paper with all her notes.
Thinking on it, it was sad to leave my home. The feelings that had been bubbling up meant far more to me though, and it was clear that I would be unsatisfied merely living as I had been. "Sanae, you seriously couldn't remember that little?" The Hakurei was starting to laugh. The Moriya, clearly embarrassed, threw a punch the Hakurei dodged with ease. The pace of this whole thing was starting to tire me out. The girls must've seen it as they offered to leave. I felt bad, but I needed the time alone. "Since we got what we needed, pack up and prepare yourself. I'm sure she'll be here as soon as possible." Another ending similar to the last. The two left, the Moriya leaving more through being dragged along than by her own choice, leaving me to stew on what my newfound life would be. First up is preparing to leave, then I guess it's up to the future from there.
