We recently visited one of the @GridlessCompute #Bitcoin mining sites in Kenya, which stands as one of the largest mining operations in Africa! It was an incredible experience seeing firsthand how Bitcoin mining can be a force for good.
During the visit, we explored how these mining machines are powered using Sisal Waste (Biomass). The process is a fascinating cycle of sustainability: Sisal Waste → Fire → Steam → Electricity. This proves that 🌍♻️

We recently completed two excellent sessions with our Cohort 9 students focused on the technical side of #Bitcoin, led by
npub1337xxyne0pw52zgd984xqqs2q7qhqpt7phhn7xp6t9yt406vrvescdpkdt .Our students gained a deep understanding #Bitcoin transactions , from broadcasting to checking details on @nprofile…wnpf and finally grasping the mechanics of mining.
The best part was a fun game organized by D++ where students competed to find the nonce for a reward! In total, 18 students walked away with 47,000 sats in rewards. We covered a brief history of the fiat system, detailing the formation of central banks, the Bretton Woods system, and the pivotal "Nixon shock" of 1971. We are happy to continue this important discussion next Tuesday, where we will build on these problems in traditional finance to introduce #Bitcoin as a solution, bringing us one step closer to the main introduction.

We had a great session covering the History of Money!
We discussed the evolution of money—why older forms were left behind for newer ones that better met the needs of the market. It was important that @nprofile…prmc emphasized that money does not originate from governments, but rather arises out of the market process.
We focused on the 'Double Coincidence of Wants' problem during the barter system, which led to the discovery of commodity money.

We covered the essential properties of money, which include durability, portability, fungibility, acceptability, scarcity, and divisibility. We also discussed the different types of money and finished by looking at the psychology of money: scarcity, time preference, and opportunity cost. The session yesterday on the introduction to the technical side of #Bitcoin was great. We appreciate our guest educator,

We learned about public key cryptography and how digital signatures are key to proving ownership on the #Bitcoin network, as well as the role of hashing.

Great final session of the week! We covered Chapter 7, Part 2 of the #Bitcoin Diploma, where we discussed key factors to consider when choosing a Bitcoin wallet, how to set up a self-custodial wallet, and the importance of securely storing recovery phrases.

Yesterday, we successfully completed Chapter 4 Part II of the #Bitcoin Diploma by @nprofile…nmvt
We wrapped up our discussion on the fiat system and who controls it. In addition, we explored fractional reserve banking, its impact on the money supply, and the key players in the fiat system.

Recap: First Session of the Bitcoin Sovereignty Program
Yesterday, we had an amazing first session of BITCOIN SOVEREIGNTY extracurricular program!
The session focused on #Bitcoin transactions and partially covered UTXO management. Attendees downloaded @Bloclstream Green Wallet
,enabled testnet, and conducted multiple transactions. @nprofile…ng5m
demonstrated how to manually select UTXOs for spending using Blockstream Green Wallet and Sparrow Wallet.
It was fascinating to explore how transactions can be signed from Sparrow Wallet and broadcasted across different platforms like
@mempool .or Bitcoin Core. Students shared their testnet receiving addresses, and D++ sent 1,000,000 sTEST to each participant.
