The Kia Soul adventure build is finished! The final touch was wrapping it with some carpeting.
What I love about this setup is the drop screws connecting the two platforms. It's a piece of cake to just lift them out and move the top platform to the back, allowing me to use the back seats.
Today I'll be trimming the "mattress" to size - a 1.5 inch piece of gel infused memory foam, and a 3 inch piece of high density foam.
After that: ADVENTURE!

To give this some context: since October of last year I've been fantasizing about a nomadic lifestyle.
Not necessarily "van life", but not chained to one place either. All the things I want and need in my car. Able to travel to a new destination and explore it on a whim.
I backed off, believing it was a bipolar impulse. Or at the least, a very foolish idea. It isn't either of those. It's just scary, and inertia is comforting...

Today's nature share: an absolutely wild photo from The Mist Trail at Yosemite last year. There's so much going on in this photo! And the amount of mist and water droplets in the air appears to paint stars in the daytime sky.

She fell in love with Yosemite. It was so awesome being her personal tour guide in a place I absolutely adore. A terrific day we'll both remember forever.
(Also? Her 14-year old dog Zoey, who barely moves around the house and stopped wanting to go for walks, couldn't stop walking and exploring out there. Like she was 7 years younger. Nature doesn't just heal people...)

The wonderful woman who brought me into this world has not been to Yosemite in two decades. She lives 2 hour away. Today, I'm changing that!
We only have the day, and she's not super mobile, so I'm thinking Tunnel View on the way in, plus a trio of waterfalls: Bridalveil Fall, Lower Yosemite Fall, and Cascade Fall. Plus whatever catches her eye around the Valley.

If you've been enjoying The Pitt but never watched ER, go track it down. I caught a few episodes here and there when it originally aired more than 30 years ago, but I'm finally watching it all.
Despite the pilot being a masterclass in character development and world-building, holy crap this show pulled no punches (at least so far) when it came to social commentary and complex moral dilemmas.

Think I’m going to head up to Yosemite and hike the Stanford Point trail. About 8 miles, mostly in the snow.
Which will be about double the length I’ve ever hiked in snow! But even if I can’t finish, the focus is on fun and nature.

I think I have my camera setup dialed in for over-the-shoulder Steam Deck/Legion Go S shots. Does it look ok to you?
What I'm picturing is starting with this angle, then wiping or transitioning smoothly to the same gameplay but fullscreen.
(Oh, I'm starting a monthly "handheld gaming gems" video, highlight 3 awesome indie games released that month. First three games are picked, recorded, and written up already!)

I haven't had that kind of issue again in at least the last 3 or 4 years.

It is the year 2026, and a Windows 11 installer can’t detect the WiFi adapter in this mini PC I’m reviewing.
And get this: it’s not accepting wired keyboard input to run OOBE\BYPASSNRO even though it accepts the shift+F10 to open command prompt!
But a live session of @nprofile…n7x6
has no problem with either device.

Friendly reminder to not give a single shit what any critics think about Star Trek: Starfleet Academy. I'm not here to inject my opinion about the show, but I AM here to remind you:
1) The initial backlash to Star Trek: The Next Generation (obviously a legendary series) was INTENSE.
2) Critics frequently complained about DS9 being "too slow" and "too character focused."
3) EVERY new Star Trek series (except maybe SNW) gets accused of being "too different."

NAS experts (or opinionated beginners!): Do I NEED a Thunderbolt drive enclosure if my main purposes for a #NAS are things like backups, self-hosted photos (Immich), a Plex media server, etc?
Bonus question: Do I need Thunderbolt if I decide to use my NAS for video editing?

This weekend, I'm going to switch my Seasons of Jason hiking blog BACK to
#Ghost. Yes, I foolishly switched FROM Ghost to Wordpress a few months
ago...
But I've been so impressed with Ghost's #Fediverse integration and speed,
that I'm happy to sacrifice a little functionality (and lose a lot of
bloat).
Also, this serves as notice that I haven't abandoned that project. I just struggle
with balance :/

The more I tune into the state of the world, the more I feel my positive attitude eroding. It's getting difficult. And this is day 17 of not seeing the sun, as this Tule fog suffocates the valley.
So today it's going to be my favorite records, my favorite games, working on more Linux For Everyone stuff, and maybe chatting with you awesome people.

Holy crap, the Lossless Scaling port on Linux (lsfg-vk) is AWESOME!
The games that were borderline unplayable during my budget gaming video (with the RX 570) like Dirt 5 and Spider-Man Remasterd are smooth as butter now, with nearly double the framerate!
I tried it with Bazzite's Steam Gaming Mode, and it just worked. So impressive! Now I have to try it on ALL THE THINGS.

For those of you well-versed in running droplets / virtual servers: Is it advisable to host several different services on a single Digital Ocean droplet? For example a ClassicPress or Ghost installation, a PeerTube instance, and maybe a Mastodon instance.
I assume it's possible given enough resources and tools like nginx, but is it RECOMMENDED?
This would be a Linux for Everyone adventure. I'm trying to save on money spent, but I also don't want it to be a massive headache to manage.

I'm rather amazed that this mastodon client supports scheduling, even when your PC is off! This is a service that literally costs money from places like Buffer, etc.
I wonder how it's being accomplished? Do all instances support it? At any rate, completely awesome client!
