Yes, but at least for now, Reticulum is much more difficult to use and has very limited support for LoRa hardware. I can hand my mom a mesh core node and teach her how to use it quickly. You cannot do that with reticulum. At least, not yet. And that is even if you have the LoRa hardware to support it.

I need to vent a little bit.
It makes me so irritated that the #MeshCore team promotes and recommends a proprietary application as the default for people to use. I do not have a problem with Liam Cottle, but I do have a problem with the fact that his application is the one that the mesh core developers are suggesting that people use by default. This means, for example, that if we want the default preset for the US, for example, to change to a compliant 500 kHz bandwidth setting, that we must use a proprietary platform such as Discord and can't talk about the settings in an open GitHub issue.
The developer of mesh core 1 is like, oh well, we'll just wait for Liam to say what to do.
Absolutely fucking great. Let's beg. Oh, please, please, please daddy Liam. Please do this for us.
He wants to have a proprietary application for an open source project. He should have absolutely no fucking say. Fuck off.

I'd say the most major problem I've found so far is that the body text of posts isn't read aloud at all. The TalkBack screen reader can focus on the item, but nothing at all is spoken.
Considering that I use a screen reader to read anything of any significant length, that's a major issue for me

It sounds like the MINIMUM bandwidth may be 500khz. MeshCore uses 62.5 as default and Meshtastic uses 250 as its default.
If the bandwidth must be raised in order to comply with the law, then the mesh will not go as far, because wider bandwidth equals more noise from the universe, which means lower signal range.

This is a perfect example of why I still have a CEX account. Last FCA I put up a buy offer on #RetoSwap and it was taken in less than 12 hours. So far its been 48. Will keep waiting. I think the variance is truly the biggest problem. Just from my two samples so far, the average has been 30 hours to get a trade accepted.

A team wants to spend 40,540 #Monero to send a probe off to Alpha Centauri that would arrive in 75,000 years. Before I read the article, I was like, there's no way that any of our technology would ever last long enough, and we would need redundancies on top of redundancies on top of redundancies, and then it still wouldn't get there in an operating condition. After reading the article, it seems to me as though the point isn't to get it there in operating condition, but to send out a probe to knock off one of the filters of the Fermi Paradox about intelligent species not sending probes before going extinct.

Its a fairly good time to take some profits in #Monero off the table by buying a service. Currently, Monero is trading 30% above its one-year simple moving average. It will not achieve and maintain that average for a minimum of at least a year and possibly as long as two. So you could pay for many months of a Monero bill like phone service and then Fiat cost average what you would pay back into Monero over time and likely end up with more Monero than you otherwise would have.

Well, the ability to route through SOCS 5 proxy was just added, and it works great.
I've got it monitoring my #Monero node at http://LongV3.onion:18089/get_info.
I did mention to the developer that on step 2 of the configuration, there's an option to test and see if you get a response back, but there's no ability to turn on a proxy until step 4, and they are going to fix that in the next release.

Well, that was strange as hell. I updated #LineageOS to the latest Aug 21 2026 build and #Molly started crashing. I tried clearing the local cache with no success and then cleared the entire storage and set it up from a backup and that did fine
What I found out as the problem is when I went to send molly over tor again when I set the socks 5 proxy and the port and clicked on check it fails and crashes

Oh, this looks incredibly interesting to me. It's called Nightbell, and it's an uptime monitor that runs directly from your phone, and I guess it can do anything with an HTTP endpoint. Rereading Broken Money by @nprofile…ad8w and am at the part where she is discussing how developing nations basically can't issue debt in their own currencies and must issue debt in a stronger currency such as the dollar or euro. When the dollar strengthens, for example, that developing country has more trouble paying their debts. Maybe they need a #Monero since it has way lower inflation than the dollar and the developing countries reserves would strengthen against the dollar constantly.

I notice something about Monerospace.org, the block fill capacity does not seem to be scaled to Monero. Even with a 300 kilobyte block, which is about the maximum we get currently, the little picture of the block only shows it like halfway filled or whatever.

I need to actually at some point get my very first dedicated GPU so that I can run an AI model locally.
I'm blind, so I've always just been like, I don't give a shit what GPU is in my computer. I can just use the integrated graphics on the CPU. But that's not the case with AI.
With that said, I will only use fully open source AI models, and as far as I'm aware of, the only fully open source AI model is OLMO, which comes in a 7 billion parameter variant and a 32 billion parameter variant.
I don't think I will need to spend a bunch of Monero on GPUs to run those.

Once the user experience on reticulum improves I agree. Also, it needs to support more LORA radios because with meshtastic and meshcore you can just buy a device and both of those systems will as a general rule work. Whereas with reticulum you need very specific hardware.

I also realized that I've been wrong. I thought 3-byte paths only got you 16 hops, but it turns out I was wrong and it gets you 21 hops instead.

The new LoRa 4th gen chips increase the data rate by like 3x from 42kbps up to 125kbps. So you will be able topush like 7KB/s instead of the current 2KB/s

Yeah, you have good points. You will need a denser mesh at 2.4GHz than you would need at 900MHz for certain. And there is a lot more devices in the spectrum range.
That doesn't mean you can't get good distance out of it though. LoRa is really amazing due to its ability to hear signals below the noise floor so you can still get some crazy distances that you wouldn't think you'd be able to get on 2.4 GHz using LoRa.

You know, i think something like the #Lilygo T-Watch could work really well on a 2.4GHz mesh rather than 900MHz.
The T-Watch had 3 big issues
1. The antenna was too long to fit in the device itself, so had to be placed in the watch band. Break your band and you break your antenna.
2. The touchscreen and esp32 caused the device to die quickly.
3. The 900 mAh battery did not help the point above.
I remember having a really tiny Fitbit tracker back in like 2017 that paired with my phone over Bluetooth and it was super tiny and had great battery life.
At 900 megahertz a quarter wavelength antenna is still 8.25 centimeters long whereas at 2.4 gigahertz the same quarter wave antenna is only 3.25 centimeters long and a 3.25 centimeter antenna should be able to fit inside the body of the watch itself and not have to be placed in the watch band.
Remove the display and use Bluetooth to pair it with your phone and use the NRF52 chip instead of the ESP32 and you would actually have a really good device.
I seriously hope somebody tries a watch again once 2.4 GHz is more commonly used for the mesh.
