Good points.
Now imagine if the main Mastodon app and website offered users a better experience.
That alone would change the narrative + increase overall growth and retention by making a good first impression.

PR = public relations, the makeover is basically a reshaping of the public’s perception of the entity (this can take many forms), and right now Mastodon could use one _if_ the goal is getting more people to use it.
Example: I get laughed at whenever I bring up or encourage people to join Mastodon, because they have a bad perception of the platform (and often its users) based on their experience or something they’ve read. (1/2)

I know a lot of social media managers who simply don’t view Mastodon as a serious platform for communications.
Reasons are many and have all been discussed ad nauseam, which is also part of the problem.
Mastodon needs a PR makeover.

Same people: I'm going to install a VPN, uninstall TikTok, jump on the VPN, create a new Gmail account in another country, switch to the new Google Play account, reinstall TikTok, and then signup for a new account so I can start all over again.

The one thing that I like about Nostr (the protocol) is that you don’t need to create an account for every platform.
Instead, you create a pair of keys (public/private) that can be used across all #Nostr platforms/apps and everything (content to social graph) is just there, wherever you are.
And you can change your handle (to a domain) as often as you want without losing anything, because you’re not locked into platform-specific accounts.
I wish ActivityPub had this.

Tag Groups in @npub1cnh…wtw0 is an absolute game-changer, and I can’t believe it took me this long to use them.
Instead of following hashtags (and killing your home feed), you simply group them by topic, name it, and pin it.
Ice Cubes is now my main Mastodon app because of this and several other kick-ass features.
