Fixed and imported. This feed challenged my feedparser. Lot's of great stuff in there, but it broke on several things, like timestamps etc.. Also not all episode art made it over, as some of the gifs are too large ( > 30 MB).

@npub1ma9…vt3t Hey, I saw you imported Thunder Road Media and that took a while. The reason is that it was stuck on m3u8 files, which we cannot import. We're flexible, just not that flexible. The mp3 episodes are imported.

aha, I see. What you can do when you import is check “Import as Private show”. When you do that, we never podping or submit to Podcast Index. It is still a public feed, but not submitted anywhere. That should work right?
You manage the show on Podhome, which generates and RSS feed, and then you take the info from the feed into your selfhosted feed.

3.2 When you create new live episodes, all values that you previously entered will be repopulated, so you don't have to enter those again
3.3 The same goes for value blocks. Once configured for the show level, these are easily changed, or copied on episode level

1. We removed the 1400px limit also for episode artwork (it wasn't in place for chapter artwork or gifs). We still expect square images as that doesn't break podcast apps
2. I noticed that you had your live episode, ended that, and created a new one as a duplicate. It's better for podcast apps to publish the live ended episode, as that is the same episode as the live and have the same GUID (maybe you just did this because the audio processing didn't work)....

The audio processing failed for some reason, which is why it didn't work. The original audio did get uploaded, so I just reuploaded it and now was able to publish the episode. We'll look into why this happened. Sorry about that.

Yes, we do have that (live value link).
Also, you can copy (duplicate) any episode to your own podcast, or any other podcast you own. So you could copy the live episodes if needed.
How about this: We build in the chat tag support for live and then you can try it out.

Hey! We don't allow direct edits of the feed, but we do have a lot of features. 1. We don't have chat in live items yet, but we can add that for sure. 2. We have a whole interface for Value Time Splits: https://podhome.fm/docs/use-value-4-value. 3. Maybe? I'm not sure where you want to stick that 😃 4. You can upload video for your normal episode enclosure. we auto-convert that to audio. You can also use the video now for alternate enclosure and have both audio and video

Next is more for discovery, before I start with the client app. I want to create an API that I can use to search for podcasts, episodes, people and topics. Ideally this works with my own data, and the Podcast Index API as augmentation (if I don’t have the results myself, so that users can always find a podcast)

because a GET downloads the whole thing, and a HEAD just gets the headers. So to be nice on the feed hosters,I try not to download the whole feed if I don’t need to, even if that means that I ping them with another request.

Next for me is to update RSS feeds that are Podpinged. I’m again going to use Azure Durable Functions for that. Each time a Podping happens, I’ll extract the URLs (feeds) to update, and send those to a worker Function that handles them asynchronously.
One thing that I’ve already noticed is that the feeds being Podpinged mostly don’t have the <podcast:podping> tag in them, so they are in my database as feeds that need to be pulled. I’ll update them as they are Podpinged.

You can listen to updates, which all have a block id, and pick up where you left off when your service restarts or goes down.
To get the updates, I can watch the Hive blockchain for Podping messages. I first wanted to listen to a websocket thing that
@npub1g2v…achf built, and backtrack with an API when the connection dropped or something. That is inherently unreliable, as I can still miss things m, and it is difficult to get the timings right. Also, I don’t want to rely on another abstraction layer.

Podping, WebSub and pull for podcast updates.
For my podcast app, I’m keeping my own database. Just for the purpose of showing users podcasts for discovery, and to be able to send users notifications when something happens like new or live episodes for shows that they are subscribed to.
I have my updater running that pulls feeds a couple times a day, and pulls and parses priority feeds (that users are subscribed to) every 30 minutes or less.

I personally like Radio Broadcaster (on Windows) and BUTT (all platforms).

yes. As there are sooooo many legacy apps out there, we make sure to:
- create a Chapters json file
- bake chapters into the MP3
- provide an easy way to include chapters in your description (Spotify can use those for instance)
