It's amazing to me how much hate I've received for supporting Bitcoin #Blake2b. Let's take a look at the pathetic state of Bitcoin #SHA256 today:
-same number of nodes as in 2017
-mining is dominated by 5 big companies
-core devs are completely captured and appointing inexperienced stooges as maintainers
Is this what you're afraid of breaking up? We have nothing to lose. Bitcoin SHA256 is accomplishing none of the goals envisioned by Satoshi. Nobody is using it as uncensorable peer to peer electronic cash. The people controlling SHA256 are happy to see it as a decoration on a balance sheet. They're happy with their conferences and badges and social status. They see most people as stupid and unsophisticated. They've assumed power over one of the most powerful tools humanity has ever known, and only used it to stroke their egos.
What happened on August 8th was maybe the greatest purifying event in the history of Bitcoin. It separated the people happy with Bitcoin in its failed state from those who are willing to work to fulfill its vision. It's people like me who have put in the time and effort to learn how to run a node and miner who will write history, while those who are comfortable sitting back and criticizing while not actually doing anything will end up in its ash heap.
Go ahead and attack me. Show the world how out of touch and complacent you are. Those who believe will be ready September 1.

Decentralized technology doesn't do much good without underlying social cohesion in the communities using it. Otherwise you're just connecting to servers run by people you'll never meet, which isn't that different from what we already have. #nostr is optimized for community use. If everyone connects to one locally run relay, apps only have to worry about one data source, which means faster load times and fewer missed messages. Maybe there are regional or global relays too, but most communication happens among people who see each other in person regularly. This is the reality with decentralized technologies, and how I see society organized in the future.

It's fitting that math, something that exists only in our minds, will be one of our main tools for liberation. We aren't as much physically oppressed as we are mentally. Our physical circumstances don't need to change as much as how we interact with each other - direct communications and transactions without intermediaries taking an arbitrary cut. Cryptography makes this possible, and it's really up to us when to start using this tool.

It can't undo the spam that is already saved on the blockchain, but it is trying to limit that going forward so that regular people can continue to run nodes. The bigger the blockchain gets, the more expensive it gets to run a node. I think things are too far gone. The maintainers rejected PR's from Luke limiting spam because they were 'controversial' yet merged the OP Return increase in the face of overwhelming popular opposition. And it seems the miners are colluding with whatever powerful interests are controlling core devs at this point. If you don't see the rot and corruption in Bitcoin Core, you are just not paying attention. This is not about vilifying individual people, but it is shocking that someone went from an alt coiner ready to give up on 'blockchain', to a bitcoin core maintainer in just a couple years. And it seems obvious to me this person was not promoted because of their dedication and history with Bitcoin.
I participated in the Chaincode Labs BOSS challenge earlier this year, which is run by Adam Jonas, who is featured prominently in this video. While the program was free and I learned a lot, it left a bad taste in my mouth. They refused to explain the criteria to advance to the second round, then simply cut off access at an unannounced time for those who didn't make it.
I left feeling they are looking for devs who will jump the highest when they tell them to, and dangling grants in front of them to keep them in the game. They are turning bitcoin into a career path instead of a tool that can free humanity. I'm way more attracted by the 'bitcoin is money' philosophy and active energy of the bip 110 supporters so am following that path for now. Core seems on a path of passive acquiescence to many features not central to bitcoin's mission as money, and I don't see how that will change

Freshly roasted mesquite beans 😋 Benefits of mesquite:
-grows like a weed even in this arid environment
-doesn’t need additional irrigation, but benefits from rainwater-harvesting earthworks
-naturally very tasty and slightly sweet
-grown on my property, I didn’t need a car or delivery to get it here
-great substitute or addition to coffee
The raw beans can also be ground into a flour which requires a more serious grinder, but I hope to do this on a big scale one day. My long term dream was to grow my own food and become self sufficient, so this has been my first taste of that and felt very fulfilling and healing 😌

Had a great talk with @npub1mgv…r9yd yesterday. He helped me realize true security in bitcoin is derived from using it as a medium of exchange instead of hoarding it in the hopes the value goes to some dollar amount one day. If you have frequent economic interactions with your friends and neighbors, your physical needs will be met, and your community will be very self-sufficient as a whole. So you don’t need millions of dollars to retire one day, since your interactions with your family and community will take care of you. This is the economy we will try to build in Cochise County, AZ!

It’s insane that I suffered with this for 2 decades, I finally found the cure and the psoriasis subreddit doesn’t want to hear it. All of the autoimmune diseases causing so much suffering every day, and at least for me chronic stress and tension was the cause. But yeah more money in expensive drugs than meditation courses

In June I took some time to sit for a while at my first 10 day vipassana meditation course, where I took a journey into the depths of my mind. Then I walked for a while into the depths of the Grand Canyon. Each experience was truly revealing. You can really only understand the future and present if you totally understand the past. Just as the bedrock of the Earth is revealed as you approach the Colorado River (the lowest layer in the Grand Canyon is the Vishnu schist which is nearly 2 billion years old, or 40% of the age of the Earth), memories from my childhood surfaced during vipassana which reminded me what it was like to feel as a child, with no ego interfering with a pure enjoyment and experience of life. I realized I have to let go of the past to be able to enjoy the present moment. And all of the feelings I dream of having in the future are accessible in the present too if I let them in.
The North Kaibab trail took me into a geological time capsule, and back out to the North Rim and the present moment. Similarly, vipassana led to me to the origins of myself and delivered me back to the present, but now with a set of tools and experiences to help me really live again. It would be a shame to be somewhere as beautiful and magnificent as the Grand Canyon, only to be distracted by your phone or trivial matters. Life is the same way; it’s a beautiful place deserving of our full attention and focus. I’m so grateful for my vipassana experience, which helped me get back on the path to this state of mind. I’ve always felt present in the Grand Canyon, but now I have the tools to take that with me everywhere.
