Well, that product is a whole bucket of shitty contempt marketed as virtue.
Blocked traffic is "dark", ads are "restored" (shoved back on the faces of people who explicitly blocked them), they're "restoring ad relationships".
These people are heroes.
I especially like "Revenue lost from an audience of which 85% expects or accepts ads". You mean, the ones who went to the trouble of blocking them?

Yeah, I just backed it too.
I've probably read a lot of what's said in his books on his blog before I buy them but there's always some interesting new content.
I'm just glad he's out there pushing back at some of the current insanity and want him to keep at it 😎

I was just playing with that literally minutes ago.
I’m setting up som Zigbee water leak sensors and I’m broadcasting “Sh*t! There’s a water leak! Check the [entity_id] sensor” on all my speakers (plus a phone notification).
It was certainly more urgent in the “scared” voice but:
1) it was only available in the US male voice and
2) it was only in the Google TTS. I prefer to use the local Piper TTS especially for important messages. It’s actually surprisingly good quality.

It feels like an LLM might be the way around this, rather than trying to second guess every possible question, which is an almost impossible quest. Having Speech-to-Phrase hand off to an LLM should give the best of both worlds.
…and yeah, I know, there are a multitude of ways LLMs suck, but they do a pretty decent job in this use case, so once they can be run locally without requiring massive resources we should have a good solution.

I read a post a couple of days ago and was impressed with their mission.
Then, at the end of the post I was dismayed to find it could all disintegrate for want of funding.
I couldn't find where to donate but sent the suggested email offering support.
Is there a proper fundraiser in play yet?

Isn't that like asking if you need both a Twitter and Instagram account (perish the thought)? They are different types of sites.
Unlike the siloed sites, ActivityPub provides the underlying ability to, for example, follow someone's photo stream from Mastodon.
