It may all come to nothing once people have seen the limits of it, as you say. In the meantime:
1.Ayres thinks AI is inevitable (thereby failing to define the precise areas where AI is already breaching the law or the production of it can be regulated substantively without assuming feasibility)
2. So-called opportunities from AI should be read in light of point 1.
3. They think they've learned from the process of talking to so-called experts but how many experts in AI do not have a vested interest? How many are white hat researchers, for example? We still don't know.

"By 2028, the researchers estimate, the power going to AI-specific purposes will rise to between 165 and 326 terawatt-hours per year. That’s more than all electricity currently used by US data centers for all purposes; it’s enough to power 22% of US households each year. Yes. Even now, ignoring this Article day after day is bestowing an undeserved and invalid office (or invalid application for office) on any person falling within its terms (an insurrectionist).
It’s a straight out disqualification. There is no limitation period.
It is not cured by popular vote. Being put up for election doesn’t help overcome it.
It’s not affected by any question about immunity of exercise of powers. It disqualifies the person from holding office: they are not entitled to office or powers thereunder.
If only someone had the courage of Ruth Bader Ginsberg to press on and on, no matter how much time has passed since Jan 6, to require a halt to the bald but baseless assertion that Article 14 means nothing.
