Some of my friends have started taking their social security earlier than 67.
When I told them the decision is probably smart because there's no guarantee it's still going to be there in two years, they all said the same thing - Trump and the Republicans won't touch social security, it would be too unpopular with his base.
He just started a war without bothering to get permission from congress. I don't think he cares how unpopular SS cuts would be. It's not like anyone's going to stop him.

Sequential skepticism.
I really, really hate the time-travel sub-genre in science fiction.
I realize it can be a useful way for the author to tell their story but how can I believe in humanity traveling back and forth in time, repairing timelines and saving the world whilst following a guy in traffic who can't quite manage his turn-signal obligations?

Okay, clearly I have an imperfect understanding of how Mastodon posts get in my timeline.
I _thought_ that I should see the posts of people I follow or the posts that they boosted in my notification stream. This morning I noticed a couple of posts in that stream that were neither.
Thoughts, insight or tutoring appreciated on this matter.

Half a year after 9-11, security for the company I was working for at the time were made aware that a disgruntled employee who was also a licensed single-engine pilot, was making threats about flying his plane into the corporate headquarters building downtown.

We always thought if we had enough money (something that the ultra rich never seem to have) we'd spend our time sneaking around and helping people anonymously. Buying everybody's gas for a day at the local gas station, paying people's daycare bills etc. I think if you have obscene money, it's time to start paying off people's medical, mortgage and student loan debts.

A Job as a lifestyle.
My friend's employer likes to preach to the peons during mandatory all-hands. Today's topics were:
- You shouldn't be fat (so fat-shaming), because skinny people are healthier and have better self-discipline. People respect them more.
- Dump your outside friends, your friends should be your co-workers.
- You should make your bed every morning.
I know it's tough to find a new job when you're over 60 but this would motivate me to try.

I had an IPA from Bozeman, Montana that I would swear had the principal ingredients of sage, grapefruit and regret.

My oldest sister doesn't understand why I don't visit my father.
It's true what they say, the opposite of love isn't hate, it's indifference.
Seems obvious but it you don't forge a relationship with your kid when they're young, they won't feel any reason to make you a part of their life when they're an adult.
