It’s gonna be so funny when it turns out that Alzheimer’s is a post-viral syndrome of Varicella (brain Shingles!) and we turn out to have cured it inadvertently in recent decades by developing the Chickenpox and Shingles vaccines.
Herpesviruses are turning out to be a particularly nasty bunch. I just did a quickie review of their Wikipedia pages and we’re learning all sorts of ugliness. Looks like they *all* go latent in nerves and come back bad.

It is really weird to listen to the classic This American Life episode being played this week. It is one of their early episodes, from 1997, telling of the tale of Harold Washington, the 1st Black mayor of Chicago.
I've listened to TAL forever so I've heard this one at least thrice before. It is very good.
What's odd is that it is so stylistically identifiable as being *EARLY* TAL. It uses all the old bump & background music that they used heavily back then. I am being earwormed.

Truly local ISPs barely exist any more in the USA, nearly everyone gets access through one of the major cable TV, legacy POTS, or national mobile phone providers. Those access providers don't block anything which they might get sued for. Also, a lot of domain name resolution these days bypasses access providers so domain-wise blocking would not work.
So this is Bluesky using one of the (imperfect) "Geo-IP" mapping databases to refuse service.

That's dependent on your installation details. However, I suspect that in your setup you need to run as root to read files in /srv/vmail/ but need to train as amavis, so the "--username=amavis" is required. If your setup isn't Amavis+virtual mailboxes+SQL you may need something else.

For many users, the Bayes plugin works well. Inherently it makes some errors but they should be manageable.
One of the most common problem people have with the SA Bayes subsystem is training the wrong database. Make sure you run sa-learn as the same user that is doing the checking at delivery time.
It is possible to "overtrain" the Bayes DB, especially if it isn't getting expired regularly.

If you use #GMail (or Google Workspace) you are actively supporting the enclosure of #email. Google does not want independent standards-compliant MUAs to touch their mail system. Google wants all of its users using their shit web interface or their shoddy apps. They want to own your email.

I took cross-lake rides on the Badger and its retired peers 3 times as a teen, on family road tripsin the 70s and 80s. Given an excuse for doing so again, I'd jump at it. The trip really drives home the fact that L. Michigan is a real inland sea so big that shapes its own weather.

If I could find the people who created the disk prep portion of the Alma Linux installer I would spend the rest of my life in prison. It would be worth it. It bears a resemblance to something I've used before so I guess the RH/CentOS folks are likely the perpetrators.
All I want is a 3-way mirror with minimal complexity on 3 SSDs. It can be done, but only by ignoring bad clues in the GUI. You can get to that setup, but it is not surfaced at all.

The stats we collect for the #SpamAssassin project (mass-scan results from participating sites) have long shown that spammers are more consistent at making SPF, DKIM, and DMARC correct than are legitimate senders. DMARC in particular has no discernible benefit for most senders, so it is a useless signal.
Rejecting mail based solely on authentication failures of those deeply flawed authentication methods does more harm than good.

That's extremely strange. If my phone was doing that I'd be investing time in Apple interaction (i.e. Genius Bar) to get a fix or at least make sure that they recognize the problem as demanding a fix.
It's possible malware. I would not bet on that if you're not an individually high-value target but some untargeted iOS malware exists.

I can't say that it *works* because I've never tried using it, but VMWare Fusion always asks about where to connect my Yubikey (VM or host) when I plug it in. So it *thinks* it can make it work.

If it’s any help, I really like my Unicomp New Model M. It doesn’t strike me as a gamer kbd at all… No fancy backlights, no weird layouts or compressed form factor, just a big 100+ key traditional keyboard with the most traditional and wonderfully loud switch mechanisms in existence.

Amen. I’ve read a few critiques of #Passkeys; they all seem to miss the mark. It is early days still & the real problems so far are quirks of specific implementations. It also seems that some people also don’t get that the point of tying a private key & cert to a specific *trustworthy* device is to make it non-portable, unlike a user+pass or user+pass+TOTP combo, e.g. in a password manager blob being tossed around like a bong with a half-ounce bowl.
