I'm a composer and recording artist and... mostly an alright kinda geeza 😊 Primary 'playing' instrument is guitar (since a previous century) but I play enough keys, drums and bass to write for them.

Thinking of going through my set list for 'The Singular Duo' live performances I was doing up till Covid hit and noting the originally published dates. Many of them were old standards like Night And Day, Autumn Leaves etc but I guess I am OK to record an album of any of them that were published before or by 1950, without needing permissions?

am really looking forward to it I must say. Back in roadie days I visited many of the Northern towns and cities but of course it was usually 'check in to hotel in the small hours after late night travel from previous gig, up early for breakfast and load in to gig, setup, do soundcheck, more grub, do the show, do load out, hit the road'. So didn't often see much of the place!

So, I decided that although my self hosted server and email setup are pretty damn solid I should have a cloud based (but not evil) email too. Especially for critical stuff where a home server outage could be a big pain.
I chose Disroot and after a months can say I am really pleased with it. Absolutely no issues.
One thing I particularly love is that it's resolutely human. Occasionally its admin has a day off. You get a page with a lovely sleeping ginger cat instead 😺

the Indian ladies where I last worked before retiring used to regularly bring in huge trays of samosas... oh my they were the bee's knees. The cases almost transparent they were so lightweight and thin. 'Pastry' is just too heavy a word for them!
They told me how to do it and I really tried my best. Results were not terrible but nowhere near their league. One lady (Siri) said, "Well Nigel, I have been making them since I was 4 years old." Ahhh! 😊

Both interesting and somehow affirming that my #bandcamp report shows the most played tune across my stuff is also (probably) my own favourite too!?
I do like the composition and overall vibe, and also that for once I captured something of my genuine 'away with the fairies' soloing. If I was jamming a solo with a band out gigging (back in the day) those moments would happen a lot, not so often working alone in the studio though. So... happy Nige! 😁

ah, now that is sad. When I was a very young boy in the early/mid '60s I remember really loving a few songs.... This Little Bird really entranced me, I must have only been about 7 at the time... quite a sensitive little chap I was!
I always wonder what her life would have been like without the 'exciting' rock'n'roll-bad-boyfriends and the profiteering manager/drug-dealer spivs...

Probably a very dumbass question... if I share a tune from Power Ampache 2 with a friend, do they need to have PA2 installed too?
Meaning share a tune I am self hosting/streaming on my Nextcloud install.

They flip between Tagalog and English/American even within one sentence. My sister says it's part of the culture to 'be practical' so if it's easier to express in English than Tagalog they do and visa versa

glad to hear this. I have similar worries when they hit the Philippines where my sister lives. Luckily she's off the usual main path by a way, but even the peripheral areas get a severe drenching and high winds. Then there's the Twin Lakes volcano not so far away from her Barangay... !
