Vorankommen, auf Schleichwegen. Immer wieder die großen Trassen meidend, den dichten frühen Verkehr, den Lärm und den ganzen Frust, der scheinbar als beständiger Frühaufsteher lebt. Beton, Bahngleise, Dämmerung und Wolken. Und einige Tropfen auf den wenigen Blättern, dort, wo die Garagen enden und eine Schneise von Innenstadtwildnis beginnt.

10pm and on. Slightly lost track of time just to notice it's that usual hour again. Summing up all the bits that went by since sunrise and somehow it felt much longer than it actually was. Realizing, once more, that while the longer parts of the road are still in memory very well, it's difficult to remember all the small turns, curves, crossroads passed on that way. How often did that wheel turn in between, how often did things change direction just to return to whatever course they took before? How many circles taken on that journey, every other day? No cuts in the log taken for these. And these clouds even left the late hours without stars. An idea of haze in already sleepy streets. Have an easy night wherever you are.

Feuchtes Pflaster, Regen in den Haaren, Regen dort, wo die Scheinwerfer des Berufsverkehrs auf dem Asphalt glänzen. In vorsichtigen Bewegungen durch einen unzeitig, falschen November, der gerade mehr zu umklammern scheint als nur das Wetter. Später, Pause und Bürobetongrau. Ruhende Luft, keine Sonne, dafür Stadt unter glattweißen Wolken. Kälte, die sich so viel durchdringender und allumfassender anfühlt, als Messungen nahelegen. Inmitten der heruntergekommenen Altbauten am anderen Ende der Straße treten zwei Damen schwer bestimmbaren Alters aus der Tür des Schönheitssalons, schweigend nebeneinander und vorsichtig Tritt suchend auf dem steinigen Gehweg. Blick aus ebenso versteinerten Gesichtern in irgendeine beliebige Ferne. Vorübergehende Begegnungen, im Sinne des Wortes. Vor dem falschen Supermarkt verbringt eine Gruppe junger Männer die Mittagszeit, mit Würsten aus dem Glas und bleichen Schrippen in einer Plastiktüte. Man diskutiert Politik, Gesprächsfetzen lassen die Liste der Situationen länger werden, in denen man Abstand hält, um die eigene mentale Haut zu schützen. Kirschkuchen. Ein weiterer ungezählter Kaffee. Protokollierung von Fragmenten, bevor die zweite Tageshälfte anbricht.

Immer noch sehr früh und doch schon etwas weiter im Tag. Letzte Träume hinter überfrorenen Scheiben. Akkorde wie ein kühler Hauch, der indifferent durch Zimmer und Flur weht. Fern der Sonne ist die Müdigkeit unwidersprochen, wiegt jedes Versäumnis zehnmal so schwer. 10pm and on again. A deep breath a deep sigh and quietly noticing moon's still above the roofs, on her solitary path, slow and distanced. Opening windows out of an impulse. Immediately feeling a push of cold air, the scent of winter, of frost and snow and coal fires like in these years that still bear childhood memories. Trying to stay clear of sinking into past depths, flirting with the stars instead. No answers, either. But at least a random twinkle, then and now, and maybe that's about as good as it gets. Im Supermarkt des geringsten Misstrauens bricht ein Techniker die Verhandlungen mit den Selbstzahlerterminals ab, schleppt seine Taschen auf den Parkplatz und murmelt im Vorübergehen von Software und alles kaputt. Der Streik geht weiter. An der Kasse werden die Dosen mit Wodka-Cola knapp, das Zigarettenregal ist ebenfalls fast leer. Eine Nachrichtensprecherin hat gute Laune, spricht über Zölle und Erdbeben und man sehnt sich nach der CD zurück, auf der hier seit Anfang des Jahrtausends Natalie Imbruglia ihre einzige Weise singt. Too late. Already torn.

Späte Mittagspause. Am Grundstück entlang der Nebenstraße lügt ein neuer Aufkleber über Kameras und mehr Sicherheit durch künstliche Intelligenz. Nur ein paar Schritte weiter im Innenhof versucht sich ein Fotograf, das gesamte Team der zweiten Etage auf ein gemeinsames Bild zu bannen, was augenscheinlich seine gesamte emotionale Intelligenz fordert im Umgang mit den Subjekten fordert. Ein kurzer, unterhaltsamer Moment vergeht darin, die Gesichter der Kollegen zu lesen, die irgendwo zwischen gestresst, angespannt, abwesend, belustigt mäandern. Viel Schatten, wenig Sonne. Und Kekse für die Büroküche, weil es manchmal sein muss. Immer nur ein kleines Stück vom nächsten großen Thema entfernt, stets unstet und nervös.

10pm and on, stepwise and slow. An empty bottle a burnt-down candle, Moon came and went by again and a bit of her light left glittering and shining on thin hair. (Hardly moving as to not shake it off.) There's still a party going across the street, but fewer dancing shadows with every hour to pass. Flipping through pages, floating in words, dissolving in mental images, hiding from the week for a few more hours. Have a peaceful night wherever you are.

Nach Mittag und Wochenend-Vorkaterstimmung im Supermarkt des geringsten Misstrauens. Osterhasen mit pfirsichsamtigem Fell, dessen bloße Vorstellung schon Gänsehaut verursacht, wachen kalten Blickes über nahezu farblose Tulpen. Der Familienvater von nebenan grüßt freundlich, als er, noch neben den parkenden Einkaufswägen, eine kleine Flasche aufschraubt und in einem einzigen langen Zug leert. Plötzlich fallen all die leeren Flachmänner auf, Korn, Weinbrand, Wodka, die in den Ecken des Viertels herumlungern, und unangenehme Fragen schleichen sich ein. Geschichten, die man nicht erzählen will. Oder gerade Geschichten, die man wahrnehmen sollte? Kaum Sonne, viele dichte Wolken.

Außerhalb und mittendrin. Pendlerverkehr, volle Bahnen, vorsichtige Bewegungen durch Rückstau. Schnell an der Grenze dessen, was die Sinne im Normalbetrieb verarbeiten können. Das andere Viertel erwacht erst spät zum Leben und vieles, was hier stattfindet, bewegt sich außerhalb der Rhythmen, in denen man Sicherheit und Gewohnheit findet.

(Aftermath: I ultimately decided to delete my account at micro.blog completely. Kurzer Schlaf, unterbrochen durch vertraute Unwägbarkeiten. Switching networks and devices, finally. Realizing that impression of individual speed varies with the hours and seems to be off all too often. Moving in moving out, across the street, just below the roof. A dude in workers suit is getting rid of wallpapers and old paint, until his shift seems over and these rooms are dark all of a sudden. Lacking this light, darkness amidst the houses becomes much more tangible. Taking some notes, striking out others, feeling like ending where one started moments ago, random activities to stay in motion much more than anything to get anywhere. And still no real mood for dreams, doubting all of them. Have a soothing night wherever you are.

(Zurückgekehrt. Schmutz und Staub des Nachmittags von den Händen waschen. In die zweite Routine hineinfinden, wieder, so lang sich noch Konzentration und Motivation heutigen Gepäck finden lassen. A few hours ago, I unsubscribed from micro.blog and put my account into a quasi-disabled state, kept it from deleting so far only because I have no idea how to prevent dangling links ending into nowhere. Have been thinking about that heavily, the last days. Wondered whether I'm too harsh on that, on the micro.blog crew, specifically on Manton here. And then [url=https://coyotetracks.org/blog/pressure-to-stay-genteel/]re-read this[/url], several times. Read through [url=https://www.manton.org/2025/01/23/enough.html]some[/url] of the [url=https://www.manton.org/2025/01/24/i-hope-one-day-if.html]follow-ups[/url] by Manton Reece. And decided to trust my feeling and my guts. Arguably, Manton has done a lot to push forth the current IndieWeb movement. He has, technically, grown micro.blog in an interesting and great platform. He has, whenever I had to interact with him up there, always shown to be kind and helpful. And micro.blog isn't X, he isn't Musk. He has more sides to himself than this one. But, too, he's (just like me, at this point) close-to-maximum privileged, being a middle-aged white tech dude devoid of being directly affected by certain problems. micro.blog claims in his community guidelines to be a safe space for everyone. But at the moment, in the threads and conversations surrounding last weeks controversy, in the statements by Manton on that very issue, it feels awfully close to how one of my oldest and most inspiring micro.blog contacts did put it (in a personal message, hence no attribution): If it's not Mantons problem, it's not a relevant priority. [url=https://omglol.news/2025/01/22/youre-important-you-matter-and-you-belong-here]This is how omg.lol handled[/url] communication on that topic. micro.blog is not X. There are certain community rules, there are some expectations tied to it, and these expectations haven't recently been met at least to me. At all. Maybe at some point this changes, again. Maybe at some point there's clarification on that, maybe there's a more elaborate reflection of the whole topic in the future, maybe the idea of pushing this controversy in public without seeking a personal exchange early on was outright stupid. But maybe, too, at my very heart I'm disappointed by Manton essentially putting himself at the center of this, as someone to communicate, as someone to be hurt, as someone trying to defend himself - rather than even just once asking questions, asking what others, in the current situation, might need around to feel safe out there and on his platform. It feels sad to leave there, it feels sad to do so without trying to resolve that issue, and maybe I'm way too irrelevant, taking myself way too seriously by even thinking about it for that long. Maybe I'm about to delete this very post at some point, but for the moment it feels ... right. Sorry for flooding your timeline with it.

Much later. Night as a fluid state. Blurry houses villages factories infrastructure out there seemingly levitating in empty air. A plane heading north, arrivals late that day. Long-winding exit road, slowly returning into more densely populated neighbourhoods. And city, all of a sudden. A tram crossing, cars in rear view mirrors, red lights. Vague reflections. Wieder hinter der Mittagsstunde. Welke Tulpen im Supermarkt des geringsten Misstrauens, und zu viel von jenen Besuchern, die schreiende Zeitungen mit schreienden Schlagzeilen auf das Band und in den Wagen legen. Gefangen irgendwo zwischen angewidert und resigniert. Aber zumindest der Marktschreier, der in den Lautsprechern wohnt und die Montagsangebote vorliest, hat Spaß an den Dingen. Ferner: Geschichten von Nadeln im riesigen Heuhaufen. Aber der ist verstreut quer durch die metaphorische Scheune. Vorhersagbar nicht erwartungskonformes Verhalten, der Rest liegt noch außerhalb der Erklärung. Dazu Baustellenlärm. Und bislang noch kein Kuchen.

Aufschrecken: Jäh endet der Film, der zwei Minuten nach dem Wecker begann und einige Stunden anzudauern schien. Es schließt sich nervöses Irren durch eine Welt an, die örtlich richtig, aber zeitlich komplett falsch zu sein scheint. Vereinzelte Regentropfen immer noch auf den Dächern. Der Verkehr auf nassen Fahrbahnen erwacht lauter als sonst, das Tor einer Einfahrt fällt dröhnend ins Schloss, gegenüber hält eine einzelne Wohnung dem Weihnachtslicht noch immer die Treue und im Heimbüro kreist eine Motte um die Lampe, lässt Staub und bizarre Schatten in die Tiefe fallen. Dazu erster Kaffee und Post, neben vorsichtig rauschender Heizung. Man muss sich immer wieder für das Jetzt erwärmen, damit der Morgen Form finden kann. Habt es mild heute!

Much later again. Resuming the hours and wondering whether things of relevance went unaddressed. Probably so, very much. But at the same time pondering boundaries, capabilities and honouring the relation of both. In between heat and cold, unsatisfied with both yet unable to keep a stable state in between. Windows closed again. All kinds of. Trying to grant attention to the many random stories unfolding on sidewalk and crossroad below, in the pale neon blue of the pub and the headlights of a parked car. Yet slowly turning incoherent, trains of thought taking odd turns, world slowly slipping into its hiding again. Yawning. Covering eyes with hands, for a second, to feel beyond the visible. Entering a halting state. Have a soothing night wherever you are.
