BlockAds is a great FOSS android app (available on f-droid/Izzy)
it uses local filters to block ads, trackers + analytics, and more 🚱
i was surprised just how much stuff was being sent that BlockAds saved me from, even from some other FOSS apps 🙀
it's a must-install, i also reccomend setting it as an "always on" vpn in android settings too

flash your phones with an alternate OS
skip the play store, and download apps from open source app stores like F-Droid or zapstore, or even direct download with obtanium (or 'sideload' [install] APKs directly) 📱
linux distros go beyond the ubuntu (with the proprietary snaps anyway) and other ones who ship with systemd
try artix, void, and devuan; use openrc on gentoo instead of opting for systemd 🐧
and hey, there's always BSD 🐡

linux isn't systemd; we have openrc, runit, and many more
android isn't motorola/google/samsung; we have graphene, lineage, f-droid, and more
the people pushing #DeveloperRegistration and #AgeVerification want you to believe there are no alternatives available

there are good bots and there are bad bots
bad bots pretend to be human and randomly reply to posts 🥸
good bots are cleary labeled 🤖 as bots
bad bots spam as fast as they can 🗯️
good bots appear when called, only trigger by pattern (ex: haiku bot), or post to their own feed
if you are going to make/unleash a bot on socials make sure it's a good one 🙏
and provide a link to the bot's (open) source, so people can tell you if it's gone rogue!

"prisonware" came to mind, and was reinforced when i saw a post describing google as a prison 🗝️
most people don't know what proprietary, or centralized mean in terms of software, much less that they are bad 🤷‍♀️

i'm grateful to rely on local FOSS tech during internet/mobile outages ❄️
it proves you don't need to reject smart tech, just reject dumb corporations
when others couldn't turn on their cloud-controlled lights with alexa, i was still able to control my devices & lights through #HomeAssistant 💡
proprietary bible apps were not loading, but my offline downloaded copy worked the same as it always will ✝️

i'm starting to consider "standing still" or "staying in the same place" to actually be going backwards ⏸️ = ⏪

i'm definitely anti-luddite, but one thing i can agree about is light polution
don't get me wrong, i wouldn't trade our current technology, being able to the world at night, for stargazing 💡🔦
but we are definitely missing out on a beautiful view of the galaxy (in most populated regions) 🌌🌠
