Practical magic is brilliant. Was one of the first films I watched with offspring when she started feeling ready for slightly scary stuff.
I'd add The Adams Family, Witches of Eastwick and Hereditary to the list.
Also Cabin on the Woods, but that might be too close to slasher for your taste.

I really like Peter Capaldi, but I found him a little distracting in Dr who as I kept expecting some malcolm tucker style swearing!
I was never a big fan of Doctor who, but one of my kids was so I've seen quite a lot of them. Had stopped buying a license by the time whittaker took over, but haven't heard anything good about the newest stuff..

Ooh! Did she say what sort of yarn she used, and how much? I have mostly 4ply right now, but probably some dk knocking around somewhere. Also some grey and purple handspun of dubious weight, but likely somewhere between dk and aran. I like the idea of doing this with handspun as it feels a bit more witchy.

Tempting. I wonder how you get it to hold its shape though. Looks like some sort of wire frame might be required, which has not worked well for me in the past. If its done just by using a smaller than usual hook, I'd be up for making this.

The BBC used to go to ridiculous lengths with this. There used to be a kids show called Blue Peter where they would show you how to make things out of empty bottles and toilet roll tubes. They were not allowed to say 'sellotape' as that would have been advertising a specific brand, so they always called it 'sticky backed plastic'. Even as a 5-year-old I thought that sounded odd.

I do get how you're feeling though, I sometimes get into a rut where I listen to nothing but NIN and after a few weeks I know I have to broaden my musical horizons again or I'll end up despairing, which just goes to show that Trent is very good at what he does.

Could be a co-ordinated campaign against orgs that support Afghan women.
A few weeks ago, @nprofile…8sf0 posted something about an organisation that provides support for women and girls in Afghanistan. The article contained a link that took you straight to the org's website, but if you googled the org instead, it took you to a page saying the organisation had shut down due to shady/criminal activity.
I would not be surprised if whoever started that smear campaign has widened their scope to attack other Afghan women's charities and advocates too.

One of the worst things about this post is that I wouldn't be entirely surprised if studies HAD been conducted on this!

If my dog was fluffier, I might try this! He's getting on and won't be around forever, so it would be nice to have a little part of him when he's gone.
I do think people who try to sell things made from their pets' hair are rather odd. You used to see those on Regretsy sometimes. I think the worst offender had even included some nail clippings in her cat hair doily monstrosity. It looked like something you might fish out of a drain!

It was £2 a ball, and it's pure wool! If I had enough to double up and still get a jumper or a cardigan, I'd probably try it. But I am not small so don't think there would be quite enough. I agree about making one item that uses most/all of it.
Might watch a few videos for I aspiration while I finish the cake blanket.

I'm thinking maybe a crocheted card, except all the patterns I have are for dk and this is 4ply. Could also make a bloody massive shawl. Think I saw a pattern for one with a hood, which looked quite interesting.
I've made so many mittens this year that more mittens are not an option.

Even more sadly, being adopted does not necessarily mean that the child has their 'forever home'. Adoptions fail (the kid ends up back in the foster system) more often than most people realise.

That's so sad.
I used to be a carer for a disabled child, and my duties involved taking said child swimming. She was quite young at the time, so wanted to be either touching me, or within touching distance of me at all times. She was also small and light enough for me to pick her up if necessary. There's no way I'd be willing to do it now that she's bigger, heavier and more confident in the water. Wouldn't be safe for either of us.
Inclusivity is wonderful, but only if it can be done safely. I can't even imagine how terrible the workers who were responsible for that child must be feeling.

Sadly, I don't think it is reasonable to expect them to be able to participate in everything in the same way as other kids. At my local pool, swimming lessons for NT kids have one adult to about 8 children for the older kids and 4 or 5 for the younger ones. The instructor can't teach the other 7 if one of those kids requires 1:1 (or even higher in some cases) supervision just to keep them safe.

I saw Nile Rodgers at a smaller festival a few years ago. I wouldn't normally choose to listen to his music at home, but he did put on a really good show. It was a very mixed crowd and everyone seemed to enjoy it.

I used to have these too. They mostly went away after my therapist encouraged me to write down everything that had happened to me and keep a journal of my feelings about it. I've never been into diaries and journals, so I felt a bit stupid and self conscious doing it, but it did help. (Disclaimer: might work better if you are in therapy and have someone to talk to about any knew feelings thrown up by the process)
