I see that there is a growing need for a GitHub alternative specifically for SMBs and single devs where setting up a self hosted alternative would be a too large investment.
For me this sounds like an ideal application of the Coop (Genossenschaft), where the SMBs are the shareholders. Germany specifically has a couple of good working examples of this (a co-op owned by SMBs)
I'll need a handful of initial co-conspirators to start a discussion. Let me know if you're interested.

@nprofile…egn4 Or, hear me out, you could buy a relatively cheap but consistent hand grinder instead of hacking your beans to pieces.
You can get a 1zpresso Q air or a Kingrinder P0 for maybe 1.5-2x the price of one of those cheap blade grinders and you will get ridiculously better results.
And if you spend around 100 bucks, you can get a Kingrinder K6 (that's what I'm using daily) and get a really good entry level hand grinder.

I have this very persistent "company" of sorts claiming they have a "family office" that wants to invest in Depfu. They contacted me with, I think, two different persons (personas?) with wildly different email addresses, which look scammy and don't have any websites attached. I don't even have a company name to research their credibility.
So I'm assuming it's a scam, but what kind? Is the family office a "Nigerian Price's" family?
(Sorry to Nigerians. I'm afraid it's a bit of a generic term)

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. I *really* don't want European Hyperscalers to be a thing. Hyperscalers are at best a market/regulation failure and at worst a huge risk to create another one of these "too big to fail" scenarios.
I want a sane and healthy landscape of small- to midsize competitors in the hosting landscape.
It makes everything more robust and reliable.
Not sure why this is not a shared understanding anymore.

@nprofile…p9dw Sounds almost identical to me. Been negative since monday on rapid tests but still quite clogged. I was able to work but not at 100% and with long breaks, naps and all that. Hopeful to be somewhat back to normal after the weekend as the stuffiness subsides slowly.

@nprofile…7v9l Gute Besserung! I wanted to get a booster today at the #LangeNachtdesImpfens but tested positive on Monday after feeling mildly shitty over the weekend. I think the last time I got it was also a month or so after getting a booster.
I guess you can throw statistics at it and say people are more likely to get vaxxed during high levels of spread or so, but that doesn't make it less shitty personally.

So far it has been more or less "Yeah, but not THAT discourse" (Insert Environmental issues, Copyright, Socio-Economical impact etc.) every time.
They all learned the handwaving during the crypto boom and seem to have perfected it.

People who moan about Europe not having a Google or Meta. Because of regulation and shit and because (of course) we in Europe don't like success.
It's always funny, because to me, the system is working. I don't want an unregulatable, too-big-to-fail hot mess of a company in Europe.
This may not be 100% intentional and I am not saying that EU regulations are without fault.
I just become increasingly suspicious of people who advocate for slashing them.

@nprofile…dt3s Ich schwanke immer zwischen Enttäuschung wie schwer sich die Medien mit dem Fediverse tun (Es ist halt auch schwer greifbar, wenn man gewohnt ist, über große Firmen zu berichten) und einer gewissen Genugtuung dass wir hier einfach mehr oder weniger komplett unter dem Radar fliegen. Das erleichtert ja auch einiges.

#TIL about the Telefunken Rollkugel, which, according to the linked article sorta kinda was developed in parallel with Engelbarts Mouse (and in contrast already works with a mouse ball) and was commercially available in 1968. The innards look surprisingly similar to a "modern" ball mouse.
Early computing history is so fascinating. So much stuff is much older than one would think and so much stuff was invented or developed in the weirdest niches.
