A lot of trial and error and the fact that it's so fast and easy to (re)install from a USB drive.
Early on, I messed with a lot of settings and broke things. Eventually, I learned how to change things and update properly.
I learned a lot from forum posts, Reddit, and various How-to articles online. I still don't feel fluent and I don't understand the file structure compared to Windows, but I'm comfortable with the terminal and I've learned a lot about different software options.
As I moved to Solus, I've even started using Flatpaks, since I never had to do that on Manjaro.

I use LibreOffice at home and at work, instead of Microsoft Office. I find it quite serviceable and I like that it looks like older versions of MS Office.

Happy to help! It also has the benefit of being programmed in Japan, so no US influence, other than using Gecko. I've been trying it out, though I'm back on Zen today.

Floorp is pretty good. It's similar to Zen but it's not in beta so it's a bit more polished and it supports PWAs, though that might be in beta.

The Colour of Magic is not necessarily the best place to start. Pratchett's work evolved and there are better books to give you more of a flavor of his writing style.

I've had perpetually forgetful players who have benefited from digital character sheets and some of my players go to great lengths to code digital sheets to account for various spell effects and bonuses. It really speeds up combat in Pathfinder 1e.

I can certainly understand that point of view, though I've seen people completely engrossed in their phones and others use a laptop to look up spells on SRD sites to move things along. But I respect that each GM runs their own tables as they see fit and so long as it works for them, it's all cool!

Players, do you use traditional paper character sheets or do you use digital sheets? Do you use any other digital tools while playing?
GMs, do you allow players to use computers or other devices at the table or do you insist on only analog tools?
Online players, how do you handle dice rolls? Does your VTT handle that for you or do use some kind of dice rolling bot or does your GM allow you to make rolls and trust you to be honest?
