Fair point, but doesn't change the point. Any Linux distro is working against those that designed it. Unlike Windows, your use and contribution can actually make the OS better, as opposed to someone making it worse to get more money out of you. It's a harder path, but hopefully one that can work for you.

(Take my words with a grain of salt, I'm having a very tough time of things lately) Something to keep in mind. Your laptop (I assume it's a laptop, since you mentioned suspend) unless it's one of a selected Chromebooks, or a Mac, was designed for one operating system. Windows. It might have gotten some testing for Linux later, but as an afterthought. So the experience will almost never be quite as smooth. Some vendors will cooperate, and provide drivers, but most don't bother.
