I think we haven’t bottomed out yet. Euphoria was way too pronounced before consolidation. Also there is a lot of macro uncertainty. I would join the 70k team, perspectively. It reminds me a bit of the last bull run when everybody was convinced that we will absolutely go above 100K. Obviously, the question here is: are we still in a bull run? Well, looking at the median American citizen’s household debt of approximately 65K USD, 40 hours per week doesn’t seem to be nearly enough. You can’t keep spending consistently more than what you earn over DECADES and then demand less working hours. I know there is a lot of nuance around the subject, including student loans, home affordability, etc. BUT: If you can’t afford to study and if you can’t afford a house, DON’T DO IT! Look at emerging markets. People don’t buy stuff they can’t afford. It’s basic common sense.

We’re on the same page here. It then boils down to personal preference and a lucky hand in getting the mix right. Historically, the best „mix“ would have been 100% in bitcoin plus leverage on bitcoin. But then, I am not the greedy type and I value hedging my risks. Also, life tells me that many a times you have it all laid out when you suddenly are faced with an unforeseen event. So I would treat these events as something that is going to happen sooner or later. Which leads me to the conclusion that diversification is prudent. It’s not the path leading to degenerate returns, but I wouldn’t like to consider myself degenerate anyways. We are entering a volatile and increasingly difficult world. The winners my well be those who manage to lose least, rather than those who manage to win most. The one-eyed amongst the blind, if your will.

I think you are right about the price argument. Berkshire stock is 0.5 mio. a pop, but this built up over decades. It may therefore take longer for bitcoin to appreciate further. Also, It’s first and foremost liquidity driven. And it is ultra liquid in itself. During Covid this became clear.

Conviction is good. Your analysis is overly simplistic though in my view. There are stock markets in the world that aren’t as overvalued as the US stock market. While bitcoin is amazing without doubt I always remind myself that it’s the companies that create the actual things we use and consume every day. Gold ha some properties that Bitcoin doesn’t have. Yes, sounds stupid but you can touch it and actually physically give it to someone. You can physically hide it. This is different from seed phrase management and has its own upsides and downsides. Real estate has a utility value und provides something fundamental: shelter from the elements. In summary, I won’t get blinded by digital promises and forget that we live in a physical world by the end of the day. Bitcoin is probably the greatest invention in centuries, but it is NOT the answer to all our problems. To many, but not to all.

I enjoyed reading Harari’s previous books because I like to explore abstract concepts and history. I don’t like his positions though. Yuval Noah Harari is much like Peter Zeihan: singing the high praises on institutions and their superior abilities to manage society and solve conflicts.
According to him, bitcoin is bad because it is based on distrust. For obvious reasons, however, he doesn’t take the next logical step to explore why institutional trust has eroded that much as of late.

The German regulator BaFin seized 13 bitcoin ATMs for alleged lack of banking licenses. They seized 28 mEUR in „illegal“ funds.
Whatever the facts around this case may be, let’s remember that the German financial „watchdog“ was fast asleep while Germany‘s worst accounting fraud in postwar history, WireCard, was playing out right under their otherwise so snoopy nose.
Considering that appr. 5,000,000,000 EUR were pulled out of investors’ pockets back then they just need to bust another 2,500 „illegal“ bitcoin ATMs à 2,000,000 EUR each to compensate for their failure to perform their duties.
These are the institutions that keep on wondering why „trust is eroding“.

The arrogance of EU beaurocrats has reached a level that is now bordering delusion. The role of the commissioner for the internal market once upon a time was to ensure good competition within the EU.
Today the woke thought police has widened their field of competence and is now telling nationals of other countries (!) what to say or not to say publicly. The dude gets 19,000 EUR monthly salary (tax free, excluding allowances) from tax payers to boss them around internally and embarrass them externally. The perversion of it is truly astounding.
Good to know that Thierry now wants Ursula‘s job. The two deserve each other.

Hi, I’ve written a thesis on this topic. I agree with your concern. The one thing many people in the tokenization business don’t understand is this: in bitcoin’s case the valuable asset IS the information on the blockchain itself. That’s why enforcement can happen on-chain. In the case of blockchain based title registers enforcement can’t happen online because it actually is important who in the end will physically possess the property. This can only be enforced by the state (or regime) with guns and jails.

I’m sure it’s an honest mistake. Spanning multiple month. That happened repeatedly already in the past. In line with desired political outcomes. Coincidentally propping up the stock market and strengthening lost trust in the Fed’s actions.

Thanks Matthew. I constantly read about people who are surprised that price limits are still the tool of choice for many politicians although there is plenty of evidence that this leads to scarcity, black market activity and ultimately higher prices. These people are right economically but they seem to be blind to the fact that for people like Kamala this tool works perfectly well: everybody believes the lie over and over and over. It’s proven and tested - not from an economic but from a political angle. It reminds me of infants: mommy tells the same joke over and over again and they laugh every single time.
