The BIP is not designed to increase the cost of spam. It's designed to close OP_RETURN.
Those opposed keep saying it doesn't increase the cost of spam or solve spam to try and keep people from supporting the BIP. The BIP specifically addresses this and states clearly that the BIP is not designed to remove all spam. It's to close specific attack vectors.

Its interesting to see so many people get upset over this soft fork, especially since their rhetoric is that it is dead on arrival. If they hate those of us running BIP-110 so much they should write a URSF with their daylight hours instead of spending 24/7 bashing people who support BIP-110. They keep saying it will cause a chain split. Shouldn't they be applauding us if that is the case? It will mean they have shitcore all to themselves and we would be on another chain. Or, it could be they are corrupt and beholden to others who wish bitcoin to fail.

If we return to the values of sound money, there is no reason to have public markets for investing. Individuals will have contracts between one another not relying on centralized markets. Companies need not trade on something like BlackRock/Vanguard/State Street owned Intercontinental Exchange (NYSE). Thinking in current terms of company ownership is antithetical to bitcoin.

BIP-110 is to keep defi projects with unlimited tail emissions or perpetual token issuance. Keynesian economics ultimately relies on debt and inflation, both of which will be able to be facilitated on Bitcoin's network if BIP-110 is not activated. Without it, it will be just a matter of time before something like Aave is present on the network.
BIP-110 ultimately enforces bitcoin as sound money.
Opposing BIP-110 will allow debt instruments, tokens with unlimited supply and inflation, etc. That is how it is Keynesian.

The chain is almost 1TB now. Adding arbitrary data will make it so that in 100 years (probably a lot less) only Nvidia will be able to afford to run a node. So, I guess it'll be around, it'll just be nation states and major corporations who can afford to run a node, not your every day individual. Since 2023 it has already become near impossible to run a node on a raspberry pi.
Tell the individuals in Haiti who can't afford $1000+ to run their own node that the network won't die because of arbitrary data. Very Keynesian.

That's a very Keynesian way of thinking. Your mindset is the very reason we need bitcoin. You absolutely don't need stocks that trade on markets. That's just what the powers at be tell you that we need. What you need is free trade and contracts between individuals. Joint ownership of businesses need not be on a marketplace controlled by legislators, wall-street suits, and the tradfi class of people.

Bitcoin is going to take at least several generations to become adopted. The return to sound money will be a long, strenuous, and slow process. Bitref says there are just under 75,000 nodes. Assuming each of those is a single individual running a node, that's 9.036144578313253e-6% of the world who has adopted bitcoin. I'd wager it'll take 500 years for bitcoin to succeed. We are in it for the long haul.

I listen to what btc mechanic has to say. I will listen to some of what Kratter has to say. Hesitant on him with some of his past connections, but he seems pretty open/honest about them. Trust no one these days lol Honestly, even most of the "guides" for things like running a lightning node on yt are trash and/or outdated. Have to figure it all out on your own mostly.

Not BTC sessions, b/c they had Mechanic and Kratter on a few months ago, but it is incredible how few podcasters that are "bitcoin maxis" won't even mention BIP-110. I am starting to think that many of the "influencers" many in the bitcoin community look up to are bad faith actors or became enslaved to the clout and fiat from the podcast scene.

Why would you not want the soft fork to not work out? It reduces the amount of non peer-2-peer digital cash transactions on bitcoin. Personally, I don't want to have to pay $20k for enough SSDs to run a node in 20 years.

I'm not the best with computers, but it wasn't all that difficult to setup StartOS on an extra PC I have. Took about 8 hours to sync knots and then an hour or two to figure out how to connect LND and ride the lightning. I think its worth doing.
