maybe it’s just “sign in with SSO” since it’s configured on our server. But there’s a big button under the other sign in method. The reviews for Element X appear to be full of people complaining about this so I guess they still don’t. I do see a scan QR code sign in so that might be a way in… we’ll see in a bit

Synapse supports it and the regular Element app lets me sign in with it but that flow hasn’t been available and because my account was created through Mastodon I cannot set a password to get around it 🥲

now if Mastodon could change how “following” and lists work under the hood so i can add people to lists without publicly following them (assuming my following list is public)
Basically hide my full feed from public, make “Following” into a list and let me optionally make any lists public or private

the scope of “what is a document” has just grown so much. Being a window into whatever content other people want to share is cool and imo better than requiring people to download app after app to view things. The fact I can embed 3D models into a web page and they just work is amazing.

the fact they aren’t in the web ad space helps, they do want $99/yr + 15%–30% of sales for extensions which sucks for small projects
i’ve been following the interop project between chrome, firefox, and safari and they’ve really made strides on having things just work despite how the overall graph looks

it was a work laptop but i didn’t see anyway around it at the time. i don’t think i was able to sign it myself. i’m just sticking to safari for now aside from the gaming pc which is firefox-only but maybe i’ll switch there

Ivory continues to be great, Croissant for posting to Mastodon and Bluesky is very nice, and Ice Cubes is still a good alternative though scrolling isn’t as smooth and their visionOS app has contrast issues.
