Not quite right.
Let’s say you start with a 256 GB SSD drive.
Bitcoin Core and Knots will start with block 1 and download them all, but will begin pruning (discarding old blocks) when it begins running out of space.
You will download everything (to verify the chain of one block to another) but you will be a pruned node by the time it finishes.

You are asking a Full Node vs Pruned Node question.
Full Nodes contain a full copy of all transactions and validated the chain of hashes from the genesis block to today.
Pruned Nodes contain a rolling subset of transactions, dropping the oldest blocks to free up disk space.
Both, however, go through the process of downloading all blocks and independently verifying the chain of hashes from the first block to the most current. Pruned nodes simply start discarding the oldest blocks to free up disk space or meet configured requirements.

Clone the drive:
Use dd to clone the 1 TB drive to the 2 TB drive. The basic command is:
dd if=/dev/sda of=/dev/sdb bs=1M
Resize the filesystem:
After cloning, you'll need to resize the filesystem to take advantage of the extra space on the 2 TB drive. You can use a tool like resize2fs (for ext2/3/4 filesystems) or xfs_growfs (for XFS filesystems) to do this.

I would have tried to move “my” fiat, but my attempts would have likely been blocked by the bank.
If it were bitcoin, I would have been able to easily move it in about 10 minutes. No one could stop me.
Even better, I wouldn’t even have to move an erroneous deposit because no one could reverse it back from me.

No apathy here. Next month — “Nodevember” — I will help my 50th pleb run their own node.
For two years I’ve been refurbishing old PCs by turning them into Start9 nodes. I’ve sold (at cost) 48 at my meetup and neighboring meetups.
I sold three this week. Two individuals drove 1.5 hours to attend a meetup and claim their new refurbished node.
So far, it appears that if I build self-sovereign nodes, bitcoiners will come.

Thank you for responding. I’m still skeptical this would be a better security posture.
Attack Surface:
By installing a browser extension (or any software) you increase the attack surface on that device. The less you install, the fewer bugs you might have for attackers to exploit.
Third Party:
Why share your key with a third party extension instead of sharing it directly and only with the site you want to use. Like a bitcoin private key, I would not share it with a third party and instead only input it directly into the wallet I intend to have it.
I understand that an extension may offer features or convenience, but am skeptical that it is a more secure solution.

Frankly, both credit cards and fiat apps like PayPal also process fees. And store apps like Amazon send a part of the transaction to taxes. Meaning there are many other examples of transactions not going 100% to the recipient (particularly due to fiat taxes).

If you have adopted a physical MFA solution (Yubikey) and they are still compromising your account, the most logical security risk are the devices that you have used to authenticate. My suggestions from simple to more complex:
Log out of Twitter on all devices. When using Twitter, log in on only one device, use Twitter, and then log out of Twitter when done.
Install all available OS and Application updates on all of your devices (computers, mobiles, router, etc) and reboot them all (some threats only reside in memory). An easy way to reboot nearly all electronic devices in your home is to shut off power for a few minutes at your breaker box.
Only use Twitter via a “live” OS. Tails is a great option. Ubuntu is also good. Create a bootable USB and boot to that live OS, use Twitter, then power off device.
Factory wipe every device and reinstall a fresh OS.
