I can still hear your voice in my head at the DMV. You were 4 years old. I had left my driver's license in the bank's pneumatic tube, but the bank was closed until Monday, and I had a load of bamboo for Grandma McGuire in the back of the van: "My mom got pulled over by a police man! She lost her driver's license! He thought she was carrying marijuana!" All true, but I wanted to shrink!

It looks so healthy! I knew before you could walk that you had a green thumb. You used the head of a sunflower to pound garden stakes. We now refer to that year as "the summer of the gargantuan sunflowers patch!"
