#WritersCoffeeClub 4/25. Share your current biggest creative frustration.
Not having enough hours in the day to do everything I want.
Since I abandoned Windows permanently I've been living my computer life on a 16GB Linux laptop.
It does struggle sometimes. I can't do big 3D renders on DazStudio, and Scrivener insists on opening writing-focused mode on the laptop screen. (These Windows-only apps both run under WINE.)
But I have been saving and just got a big tax rebate, so this morning ordered a new Linux machine with all the power and memory I'm going to need. (And full-screen Scrivener should open in the right window.)
So I'll be back to just not enough time in the day.

There's nothing shameful about self-promotion - how is anyone going to buy my books if they don't know they exist? (The idiom about better mousetraps is only true if promotion is involved too.)
If you follow me you see a lot of promotion (hopefully not too much). Not always about me directly. So there's no reason to do more here.
I'll just mention my website which is now updated and I am in the process of putting in links for direct sales for both ebooks and print. (There's rather a lot and I have to wait for many of them to come out of KU.)

Probably yesterday when I put the parts of a 3D model of a reflector telescope I've been building in Blender together and it, you know, looked like a reflector telescope. It's loosely based on some reference images of a Victorian one.

I've been working through a very extensive and thorough Blender course on Udemy since I determined that watching random Youtube tutorials wasn't going to work because Blender is f-ing complicated and they take too much for granted.

For me personally it's easier to define what is art:
Something intentionally created to have an emotional effect. (Which can also include how you dress, maybe even how you drive.)
(The use of "intentional" precludes AI by default.)

Steampunk crime fiction which is historically accurate except where it isn't, so let's say it's "culturally" accurate.

I wasn't going to bother entering but the majority of the other entries are just "naked human females with cyber attachments" and I found the lack of imagination insulting.

Note the symbol top-left. ASF went through a period of putting these cryptic symbols on the cover, but explained them on the contents page.

There's some incorrect chat going about (elsewhere) that Scrivener supports AI (and they are tainted by association as a small sponsor of NaNoWriMo.)
I contacted them about it and this was their reply.
It's an unequivocal NO to AI in their products.
(Their point being: they won't, if an "author" wants to they can but no integration.)
Please refer people to this if appropriate.
These guys are decent people and a pretty small company.
