Digital Ocean had a program for giving open source free service.
"Had". They sent out a message saying they're discontinuing the whole thing and closing the email box.

Condolences and sympathies to all of open source impacted by Digital Ocean.
#TeahouseHosting will happily help you with website things, and we might be able to cut you a deal.

ok, so, VJOURNAL and VTODO in CalDAV:
https://www.cyrusimap.org/imap/concepts/features/dav-components.html and https://jtx.techbee.at/compatibility both indicate that Journal/Note/Todo over CalDAV should work, even if the web UI doesn't know what to do with them.
But @npub1n5s…rrhp doesn't seem to recognize the VJOURNAL/VTODO support?
I assume that there's some feature declaration that's missing?

awww, i can't seem to get it working with fastmail.
(@npub1n5s…rrhp @npub1h6m…mx5v do you have pointers? None of the calendars/contacts I'm seeing in davx have tasks/journals enabled)

2026-09-24 16:50:07 UTC

I just discovered that part of CalDAV is Journals, Notes, and Tasks. All of which support parent/child relationships, categories, inner check lists, and a bunch of other stuff.
I don't think this is enough for full work planning, but by golly is it shockingly close.

orchestration is the process of looking at the actual state of the world, looking at the desired state of the world, and performing operations to align the two.
The reason that many orchestrators have state is that they need to keep a mapping of code concepts to realized resources.
But some providers/resources have user-controllable identifiers, so you don't need state to keep the mapping if the code can consistently and correctly generate that identifier.

What if: stateless orchestration

wait, how does that work, technically?

i'll speak on this specifically:
indiscriminate use is a relic of a time when technologists held an idealistic view of social and power dynamcis, when we thought that everyone could get along and we just needed more acceptance.
It turns out, though, that antisocial people exist.

Ok, what does it mean for AI to "consume" water? Where exactly does it go?
Presumably for cooling, but shouldn't those be closed systems with minimal inputs?
If it's been run through a bunch of computers, is it no longer fit for human consumption?

My only critique of the use of "genocide" is that we're not a "a national, ethnical, racial or religious group".
Otherwise, it ticks all the boxes (if you take "preventing births" metaphorically)

To put it plainly, web hosting. Static hosting for normies. All the benefits of modern web development to those that don't have a clue.
Or, a love letter to our fellow web weirdos (affectionate).

Today in Python, I'm going to do dynamic class and metaclass stuff. It's going to be hilarious shenanigans.
But I'm having to be really clever, because:
* I want to avoid redundant-feeling declarations (registration decorator and required fields parent class)
* attrs might replace the class with a changeling
* I want static analysis to keep working
So far, I think I need a custom property descriptor, a metaclass, and some dynamic subclassing to make it work.

How about if the company has a Southern California PO Box?

Time for a fresh #GetFediHired
I'm a hybrid software dev and DevOps/SRE/idk what they're called.
My last gig was standing up a startup's entire infrastructure--production, pipelines, and all.
Before that, I was a tech lead for an internal service--frontend, backend, and pager holding.
Primarily Python, some JavaScript, and a bunch of other stuff in between.
