My son is an online gamer, but he is on teams that work together to defeat whom or whatever.....he's 43, smart when he was in high school; has a dying 12 yr old Akita, his 2nd one. He does have a girlfriend who has a good job, I'm told; he has the same job he's had since he was about 21 working for a company owned by an old friend whose father was my family's doctor when we first moved to College Station in 1962. Good people, funny guys. I only worry that the job will phase out one day & then what? All we can do is be there for them, IF we are still above ground.

ah, so. I doubt I could keep my eyes open listening to a book being read; and then, I'd wake up at some point perhaps a few chapters further than when I slept and have to go back....naw, I like holding a book in my paws.
Did you ever watch the Longmire tv series? Craig Johnson is the author of the books & the tv shows are not from the books, though the characters are. I've read about 25 of his books & can recommend them all. The characters in the tv series are in the books, but completely different situations.
Currently, I am reading Walter Mosley's books with recurring character Easy Rawlins played by Denzel Washington in the movie & book, Devil in a Blue Dress. I'm enjoying the stories immensely.
About to get to reading for an hour before bed. Have a great Sunday.

it's on Netflix; we watched all seasons over a period of time; then I took a minute to check out the 2016 4-episode 10 yr later series to see if it was worth our while, and found it was interesting to see where everyone in the cast that were regulars had aged, etc. Where they were in life now. We liked it, and just yesterday I saw that they are working on another mini-series for 2026. So, another ten yrs on.
Now, I found myself cheering for certain relationships to work out, etc. and was disappointed, but....in 2016, things are much more to my liking.
Another thing that was interesting to me was how many actors from other series, later on other channels, showed in Gilmore Girls. It was almost like a rite of passage.

well, beggars can't be too choosy, but I liked mine, though the innards were wrapped inside a soft tortilla not a crispy taco shell. Thankfully, that is how I like them, but I asked for Avocado which wasn't on the menu for that particular taco, and that made it even more difficult to grasp & to hold together as the tortilla was very thin. We were sitting high stools at a small table top and my jacket was in my lap. I was leaning forward in case of droppings that might land on it. I did put a couple of thin napkins over the jacket, but my concern was whether or not my leaning forward over my plate would cause my stool to slide backwards. It didn't but I was envisioning me falling and first hitting my face into the taco, then hitting the floor in a heap. Shakespeare came to my rescue: All's well that ends well! Myrna had less difficulty eating hers. Our waitress looked to be about 14 yrs old, maybe, so I tipped well. When you've been a waiter at some point, you tend to reward a bit more. Bottom line, the "taco" at Proud Monkdy was enough to ward off hunger until dinner a few hours later. Did you ever watch Gilmore Girls tv series?

we were walking in downtown Bryan earlier this afternoon looking to eat somewhere that had tacos. I noticed that the smallish outdoor arena was advertising showing Led Zeppelin Experience tonight at 7pm. Well, the temp at that hour was to be about 45 with a wind chill even lower, do nope. I do want to see it, but will wait until one of the streaming channels shows it.

I'll share what has happened in the last week here in Bryan/College Station, TX. A week ago Thursday, the College Station City Council held a closed door executive meeting w/council members only. After that, they held an open meeting that had about 400 CS citizens in attendance. The council had just voted unanimously not to sell approximately 300 acres to be used as a Data Center in South College Station behind Costco & directly across the road from Pecan Lakes subdivision (read fairly well off folks in big houses and a golf course). I was greatly relieved, having grown up in CS.
Jump forward a week, and the Bryan City Council unanimously voted to approve a Data Center to be built out on the Rellis Campus of Texas A&M west of town a tiny bit. I was utterly shocked. I had not seen or heard of a Data Center being discussed for Bryan.
To me it spells lunacy. Since I watched the entire 60 Minutes story on the Elon Musk Data Center that he placed just outside Memphis, TN & very close to an all black populated area of about 34,000. I watched in horror as they spoke to people getting sick in that neighborhood from the noxious fumes emitted by the gas burning turbines. Musk was granted permits for 15 gas turbines, but is operating with 33. 60 minutes was told Musk bought off the Mayor and some others to get the deal.

Now, I see where huge Data Centers are planned all over the USA. Folks, those things use up local water & put off terrible smelling fumes, and one report I read today said they use up a tremendous amount of electricity, but guess who is paying for it? Everyone in the area has utility bills that are double or triple what they used to pay. NOW that sucks!!
All to support AI and crypto currency 99% of us could care less about. There is no Planet B, folks. Don't drink the tap water, if you have a Data Center near you. Have it tested or buy filtered water to drink.

I've made up annual Christmas letters for about 25 yrs. I trimmed it from 70 down to 40 this yr. Tough letter to write cuz usually it is just a fun letter for me to write using very little "facts", which means 90% was fabricated & 10% fact, but this one is about 50/50. The smartest thing I did was to check with some of my FB friends to make sure their address was correct. Some weren't. Whew!

It was 7 miles from where LOVE was to play, and original lead guitarist Johnny Echols & Georgiana Steele-Waller his gal pal were meeting me there for dinner. While I was waiting for them to arrive, I discovered that Bill Clinton had dropped by the day b4 with his SS guys. Bill was sick, so he didn't eat, but all the SS guys ate. The manager already had a picture with Bill Clinton hung on the wall in the back room where we ate. Don't know that I ever told you, but I met Hillary when she was in College Station stumping for Bill in 1990, when I was Dem County Chairman. She spoke, then was shaking hands around, and when I shook her hand, I said, "maybe you should be running for president." She smiled saying "we already have a good candidate." How about that?

I did that laundry thing yesterday. Know what you mean. Woke up this morning, turned on the laptop only to find a Virus had invaded. Took it to a repair guy (not Best Buy) and had it fixed under an hour. They like me, so they said I owned them $1 plus tax. I gave them $23. Good thing I hadn't planned to play Pickelball. Have to decide on a Virus Protection app. Avast is what he recommended because it's free, but I got lost in trying to figure it out, so it's on the front burner for Friday.
